Tig and Cheryl Meets Karen and Bonnie
I love these two like I love Tig and Cheryl True Story. Their stories are hysterical and sometimes they go off point into episodes of laughter, and all of it is so relatable. They make me feel like I’m not alone In my insane childhood stories about witnessing for Jesus while wearing culottes or singing special music in a prairie dress at church on Sunday night instead of being at home watching the Wonderful World of Disney like the rest of my friends. Thank you both for this gift!!!

    Love this podcast
This podcast is great. I love listening to Bonnie and Karen’s memories and insight on all their topics. They help us find the humor in our recovery from religious trauma. I am constantly laughing along.

    Such a blessing
I am certain Karen and Bonnie were called to this mission and it should be spread to the four corners of the flat earth. It has blessed me so much

    Great Show
Bonnie and Karen are funny and informative about growing up in evangelical church life. They have good topics and great chemistry. Go ladies, go!

    Great show!
Love the humor. Love the friendship. Love the topics and conversations. Basically, I love it all!

    Hilarious, educational and relatable!
This has been my absolute favorite podcast for months now. Karen’s quick wit and weird quips are endlessly entertaining (BTW, ā€œweirdā€ is the ultimate compliment in my book!). She certainly has a way with words and ideas that is downright hilarious. Bonnie has the perfect blend of compassion, positivity and yet funny sarcastic cynicism to which I can certainly relate but also often inspires me to look at things from another perspective. Both ladies are so authentic and somehow make you feel part of the friend circle which helps in these lonely times. This podcast has been ā€œlife givingā€ as I deal with the fallout in my life following my deconstruction. They take great pains to let you know this isn’t real therapy, but laughter and relatability are incredibly healing to people like me. Keep up the amazing work!

    Former Evangelical
I am a former evangelical pastor and deconstructed over the past 5-10 years. Thank god these ladies are doing this! Toxic evangelicalism is dangerous and has nothing to do with the way of Jesus.

    Hilarious because it’s true
Bonnie! Dropping the Mike Hunt in the last episode made me cackle. Keep it up y’all. Thanks for being here for all us heathens.

Neighboring nonbeliever notices new narrators navigating nuns, Numbers, and nepotism
Im a rural Georgia atheist, and I follow a bunch of nonbeliever podcasts. I’m new to this one after finding it on Threads, however, the more southern perspective of this pod provides a more accurate reflection of the churches and sentiments I grew up in. Plus, the hosts are just the best. Amazing podcast that just makes me feel better despite the often serious topics.

    Love these gals!
My daughter recommended this podcast to me(fallen Catholic) who had started deconstruction years ago. My limited experience with the Baptist church had already turned me off, but you’ve opened my eyes so much more to the craziness of this country. I’m searching my brain for a story to send in! Being of a certain age I feel I could have been great friends with these two except for that heathen Catholic thing! And the fact that I live in upstate New York.
  • ShelP75
    Here for it!
My favorite part of this podcast is how Karen overuses the phrase ā€œsort ofā€ pronounced as ā€œsodaā€ and I am so here for it! You ladies are the BEST!

I thought this was a meme page
I stumbled upon this wonderous podcast a while ago, and my heathen heart is happy. ā€œDeconversion Therapyā€ came up on Instagram and there were some real bangers they posted. I thought they were just a meme page. Turns out, they have a podcast! And it rocks! You will be delighted by the banter and intriguing content, highly recommend! Keep sharing the ā€œgospelā€ Karen and Bonnie!
  • Mansplain Nation
    Fun and funny
A deconstruction podcast for the exvangelical who appreciates the hilarity inherent in falling away. These hosts get it.
  • Uttzey
    Good for a laugh
For a recovering pentecostal this podcast is a hoot. I love listening to episodes knowing someone else has lived my life too. It helps.
  • PepperPenny
    Just the ticket
This is the perfect dose of snark and laughter mixed with the very serious topic of religious deconstruction. Bonnie’s chortle never fails to make me happy, and Karen’s sarcasm is šŸ‘©ā€šŸ³šŸ˜˜

    Great Podcast!!!!
I just love these ladies so much! I look forward to listening to every podcast. It doesn’t matter how bad my day is going, these women always make it better. Thank you for making my day brighter!
  • Beware beware
    This may sound crazy
I’m a trauma therapist and have several clients with religious trauma, which I was pretty unfamiliar with. I’ve been listening to several deconstruction type podcasts because I’m trying to understand a different worldview. This one is especially helpful because it’s humorous, so easy to listen to, but I still learn all kinds of stuff about what is an alien culture for me. It’s my favorite podcast and I listen to a lot of podcasts.

    Sinead O’Connor episode
Loved this trip down memory lane! I remember all of it - the ridiculous backlash- the protest - I remember thinking ā€œfinally!ā€ Growing up in that environment we all knew which were the creepy priests and for so many of us stuck in that crazy Catholic loop - it was never discussed. It’s taken 20+ years to unpack.

    Disappointing…
Liked the podcast until the giggling and flippant attitude surrounding child sexual abuse (Hillsong episodes). Please exercise some sensitivity and maturity when discussing such a horrific topic.

    Great voices!
This show is a fun swing between nostalgia and now!! It's been an important part of my healing since saying "Check-please." to church. I crack-up listening to their conversations and their unique expressive voices is like a dollop of Reddi-wip on top!!

Perfect Pod if You Need Some Deconversion Friends
I’m ashamed to say that I’ve been listening for years, but keep ā€œforgettingā€ to leave a review. šŸ™ˆ Rest assured I’m repenting in sackcloth and ashes. It’s difficult to explain what this podcast has meant to me. Deconverting was hard in part because it was so lonely and isolating. This podcast made me feel less alone during some of the hardest moments of my deconstruction. I never would have thought that there was so much room for humor in religion, but I’m so thankful there is. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine, and knowing there was at least one resource out there that focused on the ā€œfunā€ instead of the ā€œhardā€, helped on those days when I couldn’t go thru more of the hard stuff. Thank you times a million and in a few more years maybe I’ll even get around to writing in for a lettersode. Fun fact: at first I thought I wouldn’t have anything to share, but I keep sharing these ā€œnormal storiesā€ with my partner and he’ll chime in with ā€œare you ok?ā€. I’m not (šŸ˜‚) but this podcast has made me better and for that I am so grateful.
  • drbuttons
    Hilarious and relatable
So glad I found this podcast! It’s genuinely so funny without being preachy. Love the variety of topics. Karen is awesome - Like the coolest, funniest aunt you could have, and I found her de-testimony so relatable as recent ex-Christian who grew up evangelical in the Midwest.
  • cristy.r
    Love this podcast!
These women are hilarious! They’re down to earth and very relatable. Religious trauma is a real thing and this show helps me process some of mine in a lighthearted way.
  • Andira89
Humor with a heart of gold
This show is very funny and unafraid to poke fun at Christianity, while at the same time having immense respect for its audience and the subjects it covers. I love that Karen and Bonnie can joke about God and crazy Bible stories but that they also GET. IT. That religious programming and fears real. I so appreciate their nuance and understanding.
  • Maul Rat
    Kudos
These two evangelical christian survivors are fantastic.

    Such a STUNNING podcast!
Y’all are such a dynamic duo- As a transplanted Southerner living in NYC I always love to hear a sweet hometown accent- AND down to earth sense!! I’m hooked! Thank y’all very much for rocking out the podcast world!!

    Perfection
This show is hilarious. Y’all are so intelligent and self-deprecating and funny. I love you guys and can’t wait for each episode to come out! Thank you so much for creating this podcast! It’s wonderful to know I am not alone but am part of a growing community of critical thinkers.
  • AGShortee
    These 2 are hilarious!!
From the first listen I have been in love with this podcast. Karen and I have lived parallel lives, I think!! I can relate to EVERYTHING that she says! Bonnie’s insights and laugh are perfect! If you grew up in church you will love this podcast. Unless you still go to church in which case you may be offended by this podcast. But keep listening anyway! 🤪 I am currently working my way through each and every episode and am only on episode 107, but loving every minute. Someday I will submit my own church stories for the lettersode episodes. I have some funny ones (to me anyway). šŸ˜€ Thank you, Karen and Bonnie for bringing humor and levity to our common Christian experiences. You have made me laugh so much and even brought back to memory church experiences that I had forgotten. Because of you guys, I don’t feel so alone in my deconversion journey. šŸ’•šŸ’•

    Best show
I really enjoy this show! Feel like Bonnie and Karen are my besties, and it helps me feel like I’m not alone with my life experiences in religion.
  • thevintagefolkwitch
    Fantastic!
I had heard of this show and then forgot to check it out. It popped up on my fyp so I popped over to listen and I’m hooked! My husband was never religious, but I grew up in a charismatic evangelical church-hopping family. The stories are hilarious! I feel less alone and comforted while I deconstruct (I started this journey 6 years ago, such a long process) and this helps me laugh through it. I noticed my anxiety lessens when I listen to it and I think part of it is their radio ready voices and their candid approach. Feel like I’m at lunch with like minded friends. Thanks so much! F—- the haters!
  • NarWallace89
Just started listening and I’m already a huge fan!
This is a great podcast for all of us who have left Christianity behind, or are having doubts, deconstructing etc. The process of deconversion can be so isolating and alienating and being able to hear perspectives from others who have been or are currently in similar places is just so unbelievably helpful.

    Deconstructing evangelical
Left an organization in 2020 after 17 years. Needed it to be funny, found you gals. Karen is my spirit animal! Thank you ā¤ļø

If you can’t say something nice…
Then tune in! It’s so funny to hear the letters, the hosts, the topics. It’s a good blend of chemistry amongst hosts as well super relevant topics. I love the ā€œmean, gossip-yā€ vibe because we all know those individuals on Sundays who have a lot to say but pretend that they’re very godly. It’s a space where we can feel at home with other ex-vangelicals. So glad I found this therapy!
  • Vintagefluffymom
    So glad I finally listened!
Follow you on tiktok and finally decided to give the podcast a listen. So glad I did! It is great! Makes me laugh and sometimes say wow what the f?!@! People who are my age and understand the evangelical cult!
  • jstsayno1
Always a fun time when I tune in!
Thank you Karen and Bonnie for doing this podcast! Being able to find the humor in my evangelical upbringing has been healing for sure!
  • GrowingUpEvangelical
    My favorite podcast
Hilarious and relatable hosts who make light of all the crazy stuff we dealt with growing up in the evangelical church. Thank you, Bonnie and Karen, for making me smile and laugh whenever I listen!
  • TheByroms
    Humorous and Engaging
I love the rapport between Karen and Bonnie, and that makes the pod very easy to listen to. Lots of humor, interesting (and scandalous!) facts, and an honest view of life in and out of the cult of Christianity.

    Love love love
One of my fav podcasts. Funny. Great topics. And kind of informative lol. Highly recommend.
  • Ashleyyyyy34563
I like it but want them to stay on topic
I love these two’s chemistry! They are adorable and funny, but I wish they’d reduce the chatter. I’m currently 20 min in to the Dave Ramsey pt 2 episode and they are just NOW starting to talk to him. I enjoy hearing y’all talk about random stuff but I really want to hear y’all talk about the podcast episode topic. Please get to the topic at hand faster.
