lkf0702HomanIf I could leave zero stars I would! That interview was disappointing and extremely dangerous. There was not fact checking and push back. Like asking why are they detaining people in court when they are showing up for their hearings. Or his statement stating that worksite enforcement only includes arrests of human trafficking victims … if they are victims why are we arresting them? I could go on! Giving someone like Homan a platform this big without any counter balance or fact checking is exactly how propaganda works. It felt like the host was ill prepared and was not interested in accurately reporting anything DO BETTER NYT!!!! This is was so disappointing

Obstetrician13Nuanced TopicsI really appreciate the Interview series recently, having open conversations with dissenting views is important so although the JD Vance and Andrew Schulz interviews really unsettled me on a personal level I’m glad I listened and saw another perspective. I have so much respect for the interviewer talking to Schulz, he approached the precarious position Schulz put him in very professionally and still was able to ask respectful probing questions to better understand Schulz. Wonderful journalism all around, thanks!

Che BlockAndrew Schultz InterviewWhat’s the k word? Never mind.

Omariam2024Two tiers of enforcementIt’s seems that no one is thinking about exploring the all the police at the border according to him the border is solved? 1. So what is all the enforcement at the border doing? 2. Plus illegally they are taking people of the streets based on looks?! How is this due process, showing up for a court hearing and then end up deported?

CastleRockNavyLeft Leaning CondescensionFrom the very beginning, the interviewer shows her condescension. The NYT has such a great position to provide objective reporting but fails over and over again.
-
JC in NJGreat Andrew Schulz interviewJust a great back and forth with between two skilled interviewers.

BrooklynGingeI barely recognize the NYT in this showMaybe it was the softballs and weak/missing follow-up questions in the easy breezy interview with the “Border Czar.” Maybe it’s the lack of any trans voices in your episode on SCOTUS and trans kids. (Also weirdly the lack of Justice Sotomayor’s dissent or even mention that one was written?) So much of the Daily’s framing of late makes me cringe when I don’t throw up a little in my mouth. Who even are you guys anymore? Once upon a time this pod was my first listen and I came away feeling smarter about the world. Now I just feel like colder incurious people helm the show. I just can’t trust the Daily anymore. I don’t know why you’re trying to soft sell the right wing to your listeners but it stinks of appeasement (at best). I’m rethinking giving the NYT any of my money.

mabrogTom Homan InterviewThis softball interview was disappointing, and a waste of time. Homan was clearly lying, and there was little pushback or fact checking. Some of the agents at the New Jersey confrontation were wearing civilian clothes, T-shirt’s and jeans and no face masks. Other fully face-masked, and no markings on their clothes. Every instance I have seen on tv, shows unidentified goons with masks. And Homan wants us to feel sorry for them as they terrorize people.
-
SkroobyTom Homan interviewI wish the interviewer pushed Tom Homan a little harder on his answers. He states that people can apply for asylum for lawful entry into the US, so the interviewer should have asked him about those asylum seekers who are being detained when they show up for scheduled appointments with immigration officials.

JulBelJorJonHoman Interview: A Colossal Failure- A Fluff PieceIs this a conservative show? If yes, good job because the Homan interview came across like a fluff piece meant to appease the bloody red base and make the four toothed Homan monster look favorably to listeners. I had the misfortune of hearing this episode in the car. Not once did the interviewer ask why kids (18 year olds- recently graduated high schoolers and college students) are getting arrested by ice and deported, or why hard working dads and moms are being arrested at their jobs and deported. Not once did this Natalie ask about the negative economic impact these raids are inflicting on the nation. Latinos at 50% of the CA population and 20% of the U.S. population are the economic force of CA and the overall economy. if Latinos go down, so will the rest of the state and country. Is this brand new data for Natalie and the NY Times? Not once did Natalie ask why billions ✅ are being spent on these horrid raids instead of childcare, education, healthcare, veterans. This interview was a colossal embarrassment to everyone. This was not journalism. This was propaganda, a fine example of a digital wasted airspace. Change your ways or become obsolete.
-
Darryn wCarrying the water for the administrationThere's way too much capitulation to the current administration in a lot of these episodes. Real journalism pushes back on lies with the truth. Having guests like Homan on to pump their propaganda and lies is not journalism.

Citizen with concernsWhat Happened to Accurate Reporting? What happened to accurate, hard-hitting reporting? This podcast used to stand for truth and public service, but now it feels more like a soft PR platform. Why are interviewers no longer challenged when they make misleading or outright false claims? The lack of pushback is concerning. Not one example of due process violations? Abrigo Garcia is a glaring omission. Listeners deserve better.

no_thank_yewBoth sides-a-thonThe Daily has on Tom Homan but doesn’t mention all the No Kings protest? I don’t care what that demon has to say he looks like Sloth from the Goonies can yall please just pretend to not be fascists for 5 minutes?

Johnsm44HolmanHolman said they’re enforcing the laws, not picking & choosing what laws. Also that it’s illegal to hire undocumented workers. Yet there’s no reports that ICE is arresting & prosecuting employers illegally hiring these workers. 1) How many employers is ICE arresting? 2) How many businesses is ICE prosecuting when businesses hire undocumented workers & pay them illegal wages (i.e., $1-2 per hour)?

Avid listener, first timeTom Homan Interview 06/19/25I listen to The Daily regularly, almost never miss an episode. I don’t always agree with the New York Times on positions they take but I generally respect their approach to journalism. That was until today. I just finished listening to the latest Daily episode interviewing Tom Homan. The Natalie Kitroeff didn’t explain; why people are protesting, bring up the mistaken detentions of U.S. citizens, the removal of protective status for countries, the purposeful denial of legal status for people trying to come in legally, which is inflating the numbers of people who are “illegal” so Mr. Homan can reach his 3,000 people a day goals. Not to mention the practices of ICE which are particularly abhorrent. I should note she mentioned the masks, but not the harassment, impersonation of other law enforcement agencies and government departments, picking people up at immigration courthouses, and slew of other disgraceful acts. This interview was soft to the point of giving Mr. Homan the platform to spout his agenda with no pushback or examination making him appear reasonable. I concede that many people want something done about immigration and the boarder and that the boarder is currently the most secure it has ever been, but these protests are about infringement on human dignity for people who have built lives here and citizens rights to not be swept up in these raids as collateral damage. I will be canceling my subscription today!

ajspaz22Homan interviewVery disappointed in the total lack of pushback on the propaganda Homan was pushing. Letting his comment that they are only exercising judicial warrants stand is egregious. Why no questions on why they won’t produce them when asked? Why no questions on these agents wearing plain clothes and refusing to show identification? Doxxing is not a satisfactory answer. How is anyone supposed to know they aren’t being kidnapped to be trafficked? After the assassinations in Minnesota by a man dressed as a police officer that would be a valid question. Losing trust in this news organization and especially this reporter specifically.
-
MJF 46Tom Homan interviewGreat interview with the border czar, Tom Homan Congress needs this type of clear headed unemotional thinking if our immigration laws need to be changed
-
billytfstairsHoman interviewI know time can be limited but why didn’t you bring him ONE of the MANY examples there are of people being detained and taken away without the ability to contact lawyers and loved ones. He opened the door when you asked the question and you skipped right over it. We need the press to bring the THRUTH to light!
-
podtownreviewReally?Come on, no mention of No Kings? Your tag line is “this is what the news should sound like. The biggest stories of our time…” Please live up to that. Buckling under authoritarianism or being strong armed or…? Exactly what we don’t need from news outlets right now.

Anon374728282I’ve tried and I just can’t take the vocal fryI know this is terribly gendered and unfair and that men vocal fry too, but, all the same, you’ve lost a listener. I’m sure Rachel Abrams is a gifted reporter but her level of vocal fry is off the charts. I used to love listening to the Daily but as hard as I try I just can’t when Rachel is the host. Rachel can you please take some vocal fry reducing lessons, or producers, can you please find another host to share what I’m sure is Rachel’s very fine reporting? I know this comment isn’t very on trend and that most people won’t admit to being bothered by this, but, if your listenership is down, this might be at least part of the reason…

nrlupoIs it human? This show is really good when it offers brief, informative interviews about current events. When it substitutes those in-person interviews with AI-powered read-throughs of Times articles, it’s terrible. And when the show fails to disclose the fact that it’s doing so, as it did with a recent episode on ADHD, it’s downright creepy and underhanded. Going further, they’re sponsored by Meta AI and an oil conglomerate endeavoring, in the ads aired on the show, to manipulate listeners into voting against clean air policies. I’ll find my news elsewhere.
-
CommuterMBATI think we overshot with that title.I’m a huge fan, and I’m grateful for the show. I do think the title for today’s episode on ADHD was quite a reach. I would love a follow up the dives further into the ideas that just seemed to scratch the surface from today, and an inquiry into adult diagnoses as well. I’m surprised “the daily,“ as I don’t usually think of you as needing or encouraging click bait.

EdBoi444Fell offUsed to be pretty good about covering all events but there’s absolutely NOTHING about the No Kings protests on anything NYT. Sad for “journalism”
-
ConcernedctWhy?Why aren’t you writing about the No kings protest??
-
robin reeseTikTok voice? Not a word of content need be spoken by the hosts without your larger audience being made clear that this is a dog whistle to the Dem Party “base.” You lose ALL hint of wider credibility with this loopy sing-songie identifier. But, like all news media, the NYTimes knows where the money comes from. Sadly for all of us, this base is growing smaller and smaller. The voice certainly doesn't help!

Kic78Left wing political propagandaAbsolute propaganda. The most biased “news” podcast. Disappointing to say the least.

Samwise9AI Assisted, but Human Reviewed to TrueListening to Marketplace is the only time I enjoy volatility—one minute I’m laughing, the next I’m questioning my retirement plan. It’s compound interest for understanding the day.

GenieSo often missing the markHey, @Rachel Abrams, how about mentioning that Iran has been funding Hizbollah and the Houthis for years enabling them to rain rockets on Israel’s cities. Maybe balance it out with facts a bit…

alexd9229This podcast fell offReally great to see the Daily celebrating Father’s Day by pushing out an interview with a celebrity therapist about how awful and closed off men are!

Rex FlashToo much Terry RealI’ve been a loyal listener since 2017 and love the show. Adding The Interview to Saturday was a great addition to the feed. I also generally enjoy Modern Love more than the Sunday Read for the Sunday program. Do you realize though that today you gave us the third Terry Real Sunday episode since March? Is he a sponsor or something? It’s repetitive.

nit in lkndNewsom interviewWhat was up with Barbaro during the Gavin interview?
-
Da thatCapitulating to TrumpWhat in the Fox News was that interview with Gavin Newsom? Blatantly pro-ICE, anti protest copaganda. The NYT has always had this slant but it’s been horrible the past few years. News outlets like you are part of the reason we have so many Democrats running as Republican-Lite candidates (and almost always losing, by the way). Great job helping shepard us into fascism. The NYT is complicit in this.

jd5959562Love this show!Would totally be down to listen to multiple shows a day if there’s a busy news cycle. Can’t start my day without these shows. Always spot on!!! Love you guys
-
Coach Kate D.Keep it up!Love, listening to the real! The clips of what’s actually going on, the frankness, the interviews. Keep going and sharing and fighting! Thank you for this podcast!
-
projectgirlBarbaro’s shameful interview with Gavin NewsomWow. Michael Barbaro, have you always been a brown nosing apologist for authoritarianism? You practically were saying, “Just roll over and not resist”. You just wanted to keep Newsom on his heels and are doing the work to roll out more authoritarianism.
-
LoeiinShould be named DNC PropagandaEvery show that has anything related to politics is HEAVILY slanted towards the democrats. They seem to get their talking points directly from the DNC. No fair and unbiased reporting on this podcast!
-
A14obxIce Arrest Ride AlongNice job sane washing , normalising ICE street arrests. No discussion of the legality, the terror, the consequences. No alternate voices . No discussion of immigration controls potentially legislated before the Trump veto last year that could have avoided all this rationally through bipartisan legislation primarily written by the Republicans. it sure looks like you’ve bought in . And how about those two Exxon Mobil ads, greenwashing their strategies to keep us locked to their fossil fuel forever agenda. What else could be expected from the NYT that published lying ads from Mobil year after year on the opinion pages? Speechless as to why I continue to subscribe.
-
Sky Clad GuruNo More Natalie KitroeffThe Daily jumped the shark when it handed the microphone to Natalie Katreoff. It went from really thoughtful, intelligent commentary to an amateurish sounding, virtually unlistenable podcast. If you’re going to put all these resources into producing a highly polished show don’t disregard the listener experience when it comes to the quality of the voice who presents it.
-
nevertoomuchactuallyitisWill listen lessRachel Abrams is a terrible interviewer. Not only is she abrasive, she she also doesn’t ask insightful questions.
-
Melon being frankCritiqueThe NYT has gotten on my nerves sometimes forgetting accuracy is very important but it has been digging itself out of that sssssooooooo… stick with that and I’ll stick with the nyt Context, and not staying politically loyal is going to give your pieces a timeless quality.

V-SpainTrump Musk FuedJonathan Swan reports and Barbaro interrupts him: “Let me understand,” then repeats exactly what Swan just said. Yep. I got it the first time. You didn’t, Michael?? Sadly this is what passes for interviewing on The Daily. Great for middle school students (I guess) but insulting to adults. I listen to hear guest reporters not the irritating interruptions of hosts.
-
anomienousIrrelevantI’m desperate for some actual news, but it’s all pop culture puff. Musk’s personal life? Gen seX? Miley’s mental health? No depth, no reason to listen anymore. Shame on NYT.
-
JustOneTreeDisinformationSince the New York Times continues to “both sides” whether or not transgender people deserve rights (including lifesaving healthcare every major medical institution recommends), why don’t you just not “”report”” on them at all? Stop spreading disinformation that harms a vulnerable minority already under attack in the US and actually report on issues effecting significantly more Americans instead
-
GranLanFanModern Love Gen X SexGood for Mirielle that she got to have a sexual reawakening later in life but feel bad for her ex husband that per the interview they were married for 21 years, she was effectively disabled for 15 of those years, and then she’s magically cured of her disability almost immediately post divorce. That’s some bad luck.

TkotooThe ProtocolThis pod falls just under ten minutes of an hour long cast. In under two minutes it was noted that someone can be convinced that they are trapped inside the wrong body. I don’t believe that I can stomach that long of a period of a so-called “protocol” relations. Although typical America. The claim of being as singular, one, “United”. But on the inside, lack unity, totally separated by Party. Something like - OIL & WATER. If you can’t be as birth - mono - in your own body, your existence as multiple will only complicate you, and whom you are in company. Can’t you see our present presidency … massive complication. - s.jxn - ga
