Love these guys! Perfect info for newly obsessed spear fishers like me. So good to have the privilege to listen in on some of these experts and benefit from their decades of experience in the water. Some great laughs and lots of inspiration for future adventures. Thanks so much! I don’t dive nearly as much as I would like to. I like to think I’m still improving even out of the water as I gain knowledge.

After having listened to every episode I can truly say that this podcast has something for everyone, from the most experienced Diver to someone who is just getting wet! The format of the show is comprehensive for someone in a work environment who’d like to listen, work, and have a good laugh. Now however, I don’t quite need it like I did five years ago, but now I’m chomping at the bit to hear whatever Shrek’s newest guest has to say and still find new stuff to learn!

They really have a passion for educating the new spearo and have a great chemistry together when interviewing experts and characters in the sport. I love all the funny accents over in Australia and can never understand the fish species they’re talking about cause they all have different names. Keep up the good work guys, great show.

I started spearfishing in my early teens and got back into it when i moved back to maui as in my early 30’s thought wasnt really committed to technique. With the help of my mentor and this podcast i have started to sharpen my spearfishing skills and have been able to catch some pretty good fish. I have learned a lot of technique and tricks as well. Shrek and Turbo, Excellent podcast guys, I’ve learned a lot in 100 episodes. The wealth of knowledge shared from across the globe has definitely increased my awareness of the lifestyle and made me a better spear fisherman. Listening to the experiences of so many great divers is the reason I joined a club, it’s great to have that on my commute every day. One area I’d like to hear more about is how the guys who make custom wood guns, come to decide on shape, design, wood, length, etc given their target species and ocean conditions. The entire process, from idea to food on the table. Just a thought and a request, looking forward to the next 100 episodes! -Eric

I spend half my time imitating the speech hoping I can get it down one day. I love spear fishing and have been spending the last year learning everything I can and all I can say is this is the best place to start in my opinion to make the connections to other resources. This is the first podcast I have listened to with over 80 episodes that I have listened to every episode. It’s the one thing I look forward to putting the headphones on too while working out. I know that might be odd but I can get more out of it if I am busy doing something. Thank You Shrek and Turbo for everything you do to bring this channel to us. As a noob myself, this podcast answers so many of my questions. From technique, gear, methods, secrets and lingo. I’m stoked to gain all this knowledge from other spearos experiences. I learn something new every time I listen. Shrek and Turbo ain’t too shabby either.

I can’t thank shrek and turbo enough for their commitment to all things spearfishing. I am a beginner but I feel like I have improved just by listening. I don’t know any spearo’s so it’s been really comforting to hear interviewees going through the same beginner problems and rookie mistakes that I did. I also love their overall attitude that spearfishing is a lifestyle rather than a competitive sport. Their message really resonates with me. Keep it up y’all!

I am new to spearfishing and found The Noob Spearo podcast a few months ago. I have read books and articles, watched YouTube videos and I have to say that I have gotten the most out of listening to the Noob Spearo podcast. The hosts, Shrek and Turbo, ask great questions and are really entertaining. Whether you're just beginning your spearfishing journey or are a veteran spearo, you're sure to learn something from the podcast! Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.

I would like to thank these 2 guys for creating this series. There are very few if any freediving spearos where I’m at. I started freediving and Spearfishing over a year ago but just recently found the podcast. My wife has joined me in this new world and thanks to this series, we have grown so much. Before listening to this series, I was focused on depth and getting better faster. I have since slowed down and stopped focusing on depth and started focusing on hunting. Spearing has become tons more enjoyable since that. Since I started listening to this podcast, I have been able to find a few other people in this area interested in spearing and my wife and I hope to start a club for this area if we can find a few more people. All of this is thanks to this podcast series. Thanks you guys and I hope you keep it up!

Shrek and Turbo have the market cornered on spearfishing education with high entertainment value. Since discovering this podcast I've binge listened to every episode over about a month and listened to several of them twice! I can't tell you how many times I've laughed out loud at their antics or how many valuable lessons I've learned from their conversations with experts and interesting spearos from all over the world. These two convicts Shrek and Turbo are a riot to listen to. I somewhat enjoy this podcast. Their interview styles are well thought out, interesting, and funny. I have listened to every episode, some episodes twice, while only being mildly entertained. Hell, it may be better than a feed and a root. Who knows? I may have learned a thing or two. Somehow they have only mined 99 tips from their interviews and wrote a book. I forget the name of it because they do not plug it enough. Although, I have learned a minimum of 101 tips from the podcast. Keep up the interviews you Felons and I will probably listen to each episode twice. Thanks for all of your hard work...I guess. I really love the podcast!! These guys are great, really. I listen to a lot of podcasts and have high expectations generally and low tolerance for bad storytelling, bad production, and other rubbish. Given the level of internet savvy you see on most spearfishing sites, I had low expectations. (Have you checked out the web site of any spearfishing clubs lately? They all look like they were put up in 1998 and haven’t changed since!) But, no! These guys are entertaining, funny, have good rapport and do a good interview. Even though these guys are Australian, they interview people from all over the world. Really excited to hear the interview about Northern California! Now I’m inspired now to work through past episodes.

Hey Boys, As a brand spanking new noob, I really appreciate all the amazing info in your podcasts! I’ve only gone out once so far, but I felt more prepared for the experience by having listened to your podcast episodes. Many thanks and keep up the great work! One quick question/ observation, with all the talk about diaphragm breathing, you’d think Turbo would have utilized the info to speak from the diaphragm and thereby lower his voice. Just sayin!

Guys, honestly, This podcast has been amazing fuel since my surf buddy and I started spearing just over three months ago on the southern california coast. We're pretty much just shore divers right now, but we've been hitting calico bass, yellowtail tuna, and sheepshead by just jumping off the beaches. We're starting to meet some people with boats so we're stoked. My pre-dive tradition is getting amped off a noob spearo podcast before I hop into the water after work. Keep them coming because I just finished listening to the 17th episode and I felt a little post partum depression coming on. I've learned loads from your show and need to keep soaking up the wisdom.
