Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast

468

Werewolf Ambulance is a horror movie comedy podcast. Allen and Katie watch horror movies from all eras and of all qualities and then discuss them in a not-so-academic way (just as the name "Werewolf Ambulance" might imply!) and then discuss and rate them. The episodes do contain spoilers, so please watch the films before listening if that bothers you!

    Literally a lifesaver
Katie and Allen’s friendship, banter, and actual joy in each other and the playful goofiness has literally kept me alive after the election, loss in my family, and financial hardship. It was their back catalogue of super funny takes (on horror movies I will literally never watch because I cannot stand horror movies) helped me laugh again and reminded me that there is more to life than the wet dumpster fire we find ourselves in… specifically how Katie’s love of Pittsburgh has single handedly made me want to check out the city… it’s such a nice through line that’s so genuine and fun! And Allen’s “old man” sense of humor is *chefs kiss* perfecto! I really appreciate Allen’s sentiment that joy is still resistance especially struck a nerve. I love the fun, happy, ridiculous, sometimes nonsensical, and overall joy this podcast brings to my life.

    Leave politics out

    Love Werewolf Ambulance
I started listening a few months ago. So much content, I skip around based on my whims. But I love everything about yous. Allen, your laughs/giggles are charming. Katie, your quips are endearing. Also, fun fact, I’m Johnny Depp’s biggest fan, so Katie’s nanna and I could probably run circles around each other (RIP- much condolences). Anyway, just wanted to say how much I appreciate the creative juices flowing thru you both. Much love and party on. Susan

    Love it!
Really loving the show. Found it about a month ago and now it’s one of my favorite shows. There’s never a bad episode in my opinion. Love the energy and friendship of Katie and Allen.

    Good until they get political
I would give this a 4 if they weren’t such liberal dumb dumbs, they’re way too old to have the opinions they do, they never miss a chance to call out a man or bad cops, constantly stating acab which is a pretty cringe take for a middle aged person, but, when it comes to bad women, they either glaze over it or make excuses for them.

    All the stars!
I’m jealous. Mainly because I want a Katie and Allan to be friends with! Listening to their chemistry and comedy is refreshing, entertaining and every once and a while even informative! Heard about you back when Allan was on Marveling and have been an avid listener ever since. Thank you guys for making my commute and long nights at work more fun and bearable!

    Hi guys!
I love this podcast. I’m making my way through the back catalogue, and Katie asks if Kevin Costner ever did a horror film. Well, he did and it’s a doozy. It’s 2009s The New Daughter. When it came out, the trailer presented it as a psychological thriller about a single father and his kids, with a plot about a missing girl. It is not that movie. I went with my mother and the theatre was full of middle aged moms. When the monsters showed up, chaos ensued as all the old ladies lost their minds. Not a good movie, but you two may have fun with it. Thank you for your service.

    Roll Initiative
Katie and Allen are the best! This show consistently cracks me up and brightens my day. Having grown up on a steady diet of horror movies myself, I love not only find old treasures (Piranha anyone?) but films films I failed to “Conquest” before. As there are so many episodes to choose from, I roll 6d100 and that’s the episode number I listen to next. And I HAVE to watch the movie first, even if I’ve seen it before. And every episode is a hit. Thank you both so much for bringing joy and laughter to this spooky movie fan!!!

    Great DGAF ambiance
I love how unserious this podcast is, while still also being genuine and comforting. Why not just have a ritual of dishing on movies with your BFF? As a Xennial mom, I also really relate to both hosts - my movie tastes probably skew more towards Alan, but I have way more relatable experiences with Katie. The Chucky movies have a special and weird place in my heart, I relished in Katie’s appreciation of Child’s Play 2. It’s the perfect dopamine supplement to all the mundane chores of the day, where snippets make me belly laugh but I don’t need to get invested. Thanks for the company!

Greetings from Louisiana! Like many others, I first heard y’all on GAM & when Katie mentioned their Verotika review, I had to seek it out. Hooked ever since. I now have a huge backlog of the other podcasts I listen to, because now I just listen to Werewolf Ambulance. I haven’t even seen most of the movies they review, but Katie & Allen’s banter, charming personalities, and loving friendship (of which I’m truly envious) are reason enough to make this my favorite pod. They’re also genuinely funny. It’s a welcome respite from the terrible things in the year of our lord 2024. So Katie & Allen, thanks for being awesome & sharing it with us!

    Love, love, love this show!
I’ve been a subscriber and listener since your first guest appearance on GAM. I ravenously listened to the entire Werewolf Ambulance library. Then I became a patron of your WWA Kids Club action series and devoured that library of episodes. Now that I have maximized my enjoyment by re-listening to the multiple WWA-GAM crossover episodes I must be content to listen to Katie and Allen’s content on the normal release schedule like a mere mortal. Cheers to all!

    I hate titles
But I’m loving your podcast. I was listening to the Sleepaway Camp episode last night on headphones and kept cackling and annoying my husband who wanted to know “what?” every few minutes! ETA: I also did a full spit take in bed and couldn’t stop laughing at it shortly after o wrote this. Also also: i hate deserts, love Clueless and peanut butter cups. And horses—I’m not 100% against them but the are weird and uncanny with their dangerous bobbing heads, like waves in the ocean. They’ll take you out. I’m officially in. Come to Midsummer Scream sometime and I will bring you a Reeces.

(Sorry Katie for this Allen heavy review, Go Pirates) I’m here as a Marveling at Marvel’s Marvels transplant. I love this show. As much as I miss Allen on MMM, his enthusiasm for Werewolf Ambulance shows this podcast is his one true love. His adoration for both the horror genre and the show itself brings me back to every new episode with a smile on my face. I cannot express my appreciation for your work on both shows and how it helps me get through my days. Thank you. You’re the man. Also…keep on marveling (I’m sorry, I had to).

    Werewolf Bar Mitzvah… spooky scary
I first heard of Katie and Allen on an episode of GAM and knew I had to check them out. I have been binging episodes like my life depends on it! Katie and Allen are incredibly funny! Definitely my favorite podcast 🖤

    Adore the hosts!
The hosts are both very funny and heartfelt! I’m easily scared and jumpy so horror movies are tough for me. Thanks to WA I get to get exposed to movies I wouldn’t be able to sit through. Love ya’ll! Keep up the great job!

They have the best intro, with a wolf going aw-wooo
Movies are not always “films” and “films” can be unfun. Werewolf Ambulance is not about “film”. It is about being fun and how that’s more important than being “right”. Alan’s friend Katy & Caity’s friend Alain go through all the corners of horror (usually): old & new; classic & niche; good, “good”, bad, & “bad”. This is a delightful podcast where you listen to two pals being pals and talking about things that really matter to them (ie. movie punks, Tom Savani, Steven Weber). Kady & Allan go through why some movies are great, some are overrated, and some just terrible.

*Moisture Update Part II - The Reckoning*
Howdy fellers. I figured enough time had passed that a moisture update was due. Having become a father, I now listen while suffering new and mildly terrifying forms of moisture. This podcast has been a staple in my wetness journey and I couldn’t be happier. Much love from Eastern Pennsylvania. Keep on rockin.

    Werewolf Ambulance—Matchmakers?
I met someone who turned out to be very dear to me all because I put out a call looking for a horror podcast to listen to after catching up on a couple of others, and they responded with Werewolf Ambulance. Little did we know that would be the launching of a beautiful relationship, so thanks Katie and Allen, and thanks for all the laughs you’ve given me as I’ve torn through the backlog. I fear I can no longer say Peacock correctly, I find myself straining my ears whenever anyone says Don or Dawn, and I hum the end theme constantly. Thanks guys.

    The Visitor 1979
Any podcast that has an episode on the visitor is an instant favorite. This is a movie that defies explanation but needs to be discussed and dissected daily. Thank you for doing the confusing space lord’s work.

    10 Outta 5 Stars
Hello Katie! Hello Allen! YOU. TWO. ARE. DA. BEST. Simple as that. I’m excited every Monday morning to shove those earbuds into my ear holes and listen to the first high-pitched sounds of your intro music. (Simply exquisite sounds when you have a hangover due to the fact that you had to buttchug vodka the night before just to fight off feelings of needing to stroke out during some of the less-successful cinematic flims in your cat a log. Just the things you do as a committed and loving Werewolf Ambulance fan I guess.) But in all cerealness, I love your show! Love it. I really do love the unique movies you pick! Katie has been killin it on the picks recently, bee tee dub. Regardless of the movie you review, y’all are the freakin funniest. You always make me laugh largely and fill my insides with much joy. I’ve litrally fallen down on the ground I laughed so hard at one of your alls’ jokes. (Admittedly, I was already most of the way there as I was doin a push up at the time, but still…) Your podcast has brought a lot of happiness to my life and I really want to thank you both for all that you do. Please keep up the truly amazing work. Smell you later.

Best horror pod with an ambulance motif!
Gregg & June are great friends who skewer horror movies on a weekly basis and I will continue to listen to this terrific twosome until one of us dies or decides to go do mushrooms in the woods. Long live Werewolf Ambulance with Blake & Trixie!

    Unlike candy corn.
Katie and Allen’s friendship is sweet and wholesome and has real depth, unlike the foul pretend candy in the shape of corn. Found you guys on G.A.M. and have been binging ever since. Five stars for being good humans and five more for being fun. Never stop laughing.

    Great 80’s Movie Watch Lists!
Please keep including the movie image in the episode photo! It helps so much to be able to get a better feel for the movie with the movie image or movie poster.

    You’re making me crazy!
Hello Allen and Katie! I listen to a lot of podcasts, as someone that works from home, and I obviously enjoy all of those I listen to, but you guys are the only ones that make me actually laugh out loud. My kids are now at home with me for Christmas break and I overheard them discussing me-“I think something is wrong with Mom. She laughs all day while she is working. I think she is losing it” Thank you both for giving me the gift of laughter and for reviewing the movies I adore.

    Terrorizing My Family
5 stars. My brother introduced me to this podcast years ago with the episode for Stitches and I’ve been riding this train ever since. He regrets ever telling me to listen since I will routinely come up to him and touch his face while saying THINNER. PS. Burning question, does the Corolla still smell like milkshake and did you ever get the milkshake stain out of it.

Would be great with the annoying lady
Seriously she speaks valley girl, hates They Live, and has nothing to add to the conversation. Such a shame cause the guy is pretty cool. This was too annoying to continue with. Oh, and she’s one of those “no not the children” kind of people. Give me a break already! Skip this trash

I don't think I even like horror movies
I listen to this every week. Do I like horror movies? I don't think so. Not anymore. But I grew up on them and hearing these two giggle and trash talk or love on a variety of things entertains me realllll good. It's like that scene in the "Lost Boys" where Haim finds the TV guide and asks where the TV is and the grandpa says "Don't need a TV if you've got a TV guide". I don't need me no horror movies if I gots me some Werewolf Ambulance.

Hoodoo and Voodoo are different things…
…God I don’t know that much”. For some reason they’re letting me Baa-aack for another review—don’t mind if I do: I’m officially all in on this show and popping with laughter every other minute. I’m about same age as the dude host (Alan) so I get his references (excellent straight man host, btw, and reads reviews well) … and Cathy…Kathy (?) KATY / KATIE (the woman hostess) is just ridiculously and naturally hilarious imo. She’s a force! Great stuff. Go watch any horror movie then find their episode covering it and I challenge you not to laugh and be entertained. UPDATE: Ok it’s officially my favorite non-Bald Move and non-retro pro wrestling podcast. Just brilliant and keeps me laughing. That’s all I want from a podcast…slightly above average intelligence and plenty of humor! UPDATE UPDATE: it’s Katie (Katy?) and Allen! Sorry, 15 episodes and I finally got your names down…maybe…favorite personal Pittsburgh memory is seeing the Dead and Three Rivers in ‘95 and the rain pouring down during 2nd set Rain>Box of Rain>Looks Like Rain>Samba in the Rain>Terrapin>Drums… amazing experience. We can still see Jerry’s hair blowing in the wind during Standing on the Moon…ahh IT’s November and I’m still here

    Great funny podcast
Only good thing about Mondays is this podcast. I don’t even like horror movies but love listening to these two discuss them. Easily one of the best and funniest podcasts of all time. I hope they never die so this podcast never ends.

    Horror as it should be.
Thanks for reviewing horror movies from the perspective of horror movie fans. Horror is its own genre and deserves to be reviewed that way.

    So fun
Super funny, great hosts, solid commentary. Was great to hear Katie and Allen on GAM and was happy tp follow them to their own show. Absolutely worth listening to.

    Rainy Days and Mondays…
ALWAYS get me down, but then…the light at the end of the tunnel (or beginning of the day, really) is the fact that a new episode of Werewolf Ambulance will be there waiting for me to download and listen to just before the beginning of the work day. It’s gotten so that as soon as the goodbyes start, I’ll rewind to the beginning of the episode and skip to another podcast so I can listen to it all over again after work. You should too. Like really, DO IT! Yours, Server Monkey. P.S. My apologies for inundating your Instagram with horror oddities and memes. It’s a thing I do.
  • Animikean
    Another GAM listener
Hello Ambulance Attendants, Been trying to get through your back catalog since hearing you both on GAM, enjoying the variety between old and new episodes. Earlier than I thought I’d be dropping a review but this week Katie correctly pointed out how unscary Prince of Darkness is. I was warned it would give me nightmares before watching it… it’s a comedy right? I spent a lot of it trying to place the Asian actor (Victor Wong) but the rest was me laughing at what Allen was saying was supposed to be scary? I’ll continue nibbling away at your old shows on my daily walks, and appreciate the wonderful warmth and friendship baked into each episode. Thank you, hope you never run out of horror to watch and good friends to share it with. -Sara

What a great podcast for horror (and other) movie lovers
So I found out about this podcast from GAM. They had Katie and Allen on for The Exorcist (Im playing catch-up back episodes) and I loved it. I’ve started listening to them (my podcast addiction it getting out of hand) and love them as much as GAM. Funny and they do a great job of keeping you entertained. 10/10

Listening since 2015. My favorite podcast.
Brings the nerd energy I crave, sweetened by the funny I need. Out of the 6 or so horror media podcasts I listen too, Allen and Katie’s Werewolf Ambulance warms my heart and my funny-bone.
  • TimeWizard333
Some good commentary, some wide misses on facts
They’re funny, don’t get me wrong. But not knowing things about Star Wars (Queen Amidala, not Princess), Goonies (filmed in Astoria not Arcadia, and the “rock” seen late in the movie is in Cannon Beach, which is not Astoria/Arcadia). These are things easily found on the Trivia portion of IMBD for these movies. Doing just a cursory read of that section would help with getting the details right. And that’s what separates the great podcasts from all the others: nailing the details.
  • gimme indie rock
    A treasure indeed
With genuine chemistry and an audible love for their fans, Allen and his friend provide a place so comfortable that you feel like yr part of the hang. Plus they’ve been making references long enough that there is CANON for you nerds! A GD delight

    Phantasm
Love the shoe but how can Katie not love phantasm ?!?
  • amattke
I’m ambivalent about horror movies, but I love this podcast!
I love a good horror movie but I don’t like being scared, so I appreciate when they describe the plot before they make fun of it. Katie’s laugh is so contagious, Allen is delightful, and I would love to watch anything if I could sit between these two!! I’d love to hear a review of Bubba Ho-Tep, because if you can only watch one Elvis vs. mummy movie, that should be it! Thank you for all the laughs!
