departmentofdaveGenerally enjoyable, but…The host has a unique way of speaking that is painfully slow and awkwardly stilted, which is not great for audio entertainment. His questions and comments are sometimes surprisingly naive or unsupportive of his guests for a show about sex, betraying his lack of knowledge and experience with the subject. Regardless, his episodes are imaginative and often his subjects aren’t covered by any other podcast with which I’m familiar and his guests are always interesting. However, he introduced politics at the end of a recent episode and the problem with that is he reveals he’s extremely bad at politics. He wholeheartedly believes the neoliberal corporate Democrat propaganda, hook, line and sinker. I don’t blame anyone for getting politics wrong, this nation’s political system is designed for just that, to keep the population believing lies. As a leftist, I’m used to well-meaning people regurgitating capitalist nonsense that was fed to them since birth by oligarchs. But I barely buy him as someone who’s passingly knowledgeable about sex who’s hosting a sex show. I would never choose to listen to him hosting a show about politics. Introducing politics to his sex show was a major mistake. I have no doubt his uninformed opinions persuaded exactly nobody to change their minds about any of the topics he raised, so what was the point? It was just another neoliberal, mediocre, straight white man telling us he knows better than we do. I’m sure other neoliberals loved hearing it. If that’s the only demographic he wants listening to his podcast, that’s his prerogative. If not, I’d suggest he not alienate the rest of his listeners.

K1;(Used to enjoyUsed to really enjoy, but when he tells me how to vote, I’m done. Don’t listen for politics.

middleaged weirdoIdahoI love this podcast! I love listening to sex related podcasts but was searching for something different after hearing multiple episodes on “how to …”. I have always loved Sociology snd have a degree in it even -so this podcast mixing my favorite two subjects is delightful.
-
MaterialsGirlLove this podcast!I didn’t discover this podcast until the pandemic and I suddenly had to work alone many hours at a time. Chris and his guests make excellent company while analyzing data- the episodes are thoughtful and give perspectives on some things I’d never closely considered, and I feel better rounded for having listened to it.

BrettBeeThoughts.Great show! I love to hear the stories!

FS ChloeEveryone should listen to this podcast!I’m not a huge fan of podcasts because I find myself to get distracted often. Yet that is NOT the case with Sex with Strangers podcast. Chris Sowa comes off as an amazing guy; funny, respectful, interesting, etc. The topics are FAR from boring and the interviews are always enlightening. I’ve learned so much from this podcast and it has pushed me to learn more!

@iMatti_Thumbs up! Andy using the word solely (Lol)I have enjoyed listening to the podcast episodes1, 2, and 3. By the way, I found it amusing that on episode 2 the host mentioned he set up a Grindr profile "SOLELY for interviews". LOL, I think everybody understood he said it up for interviews. Including the word "solely" was overkill. Lol
-
qwartneySUPER impressed!I’m SO impressed by Chris’s handling of Asexuality and Aromanticism as topics. He really did his research, and this episode (#50) was genuinely interesting and entertaining. Thanks for all the info and the professional way in which you approach all your topics!

SaintworksartThis podcast needs to come late night TVI was discovering myself in a perfect time of scrambled porn and more importantly, HBO’s Real Sex. A show that is dearly missed and the older I get, I find the psychology more interesting. Sex With Strangers fills that void(no pun intended.) it’s healthy and informative conversations that I never knew I was interested in. It’s good for arousal in some topics, but over all, you flip a switch in your head to look at sex as a norm and not taboo.

Dido Daba DoShare this Podcast with the WORLD!This is by far my favorite podcast I've ever followed/listened to. I started listening to podcasts while at work earlier this year (yay office job) and this one is the most entertaining and informative. Highly captivating, I've gone through almost the entire series in the past few months. I'll be sad once I don't have any episodes left 'on-demand' to catch up on. I might be a new fan, but I'm a deep fan ;) Thanks Chris Sowa and team <3 You've inspired me to re-evaluate my direction and field of study when considering graduate programs and ultimately my career. Keep up the episodes and great reporting && please, please post more on SnapChat!

Clown SaladSociological look at sexReverent and respectful of guests while also being able to laugh at the innate absurdity of human sexuality. Chris does an excellent job of asking the right questions to learn more about any given subject while also keeping things light and humorous. A judgement free zone to dig deeper into what drives us to do the things we do, how our perceptions are created and challenged, and how those things can sometimes be at odds with one another. It’s everything you want in a podcast- lets you nod in agreement, challenge your own beliefs, and belly laugh all the way.

SubergirlPlanned ParenthoodLove love love that you’re using your platform for a great cause! The best introduction I’ve had to a podcast, yet!
-
stella_fantasiaSuper sex-positive, mind-expanding, and sexyI’ve quickly made my way through 80% of the episodes and found each one interesting and entertaining. Chris delivers all of it with a smile in his voice. He is as into facts as an NPR journalist and interviews better than a lot of them. I have learned about so many facets of human sexuality (and all kinds of cultural milieus) and the sex industries (porn, sex work, sex therapy, etc.). If you like sex (i.e., are mammal), you will like this podcast!
-
JarrodryanInformative and entertaining!Love this podcast, the content is always compelling and covers a swathe of sex-related cultural issues and topics. 👌🏻
-
FlatlanInteresting and Non JudgementalI enjoy listening to all the different perspectives and lifestyles. Chris does a great job tackling so many topics in a funny, interesting and non judgmental way!
-
EkpmartinListen to itI really appreciate this show and the opportunities it presents for vanilla people like me to expand their view and listen to the perspectives of people who live in totally different worlds. Sometimes it’s a little too much, but that’s kind of the point. And it’s clearly made with love and care. And weirdness.
-
SillyEmuHigh Quality ContentI was surprised by how put together contemplative this podcast is. My only critique, I wish Chris would talk a little faster...I always change the speed to 1.5 when he talks. Over all great show!

dms230Favorite podcast by farIf you think YOU’RE kinky, or just intrigued by the world of sex work, fetishes and more, you’ll find this show funny, entertaining, informative, surprising...honest interviews with an excellent host. I prefer shoes that are not overly produced and appreciate that the conversations don’t seem cut together. I tell everyone I think would be interested about this show!!!

MiaVagabondYou should all listen to thisFrom a sex shop in Japan to Juggolos, the sex trafficking narrative to what men can do to be better- I have loved every episode. Chris Sowa is funny, honest and seems to be someone I want to hang with. This show has changed how I see things. Thanks Chris.

LirenchloeSuper interesting! The podcast is very fascinating and informative at the same time. Talking about sexual behaviors can be vulgar but this podcast is elegantly done. Chris is a great interviewer and he has done an amazing job creating fun topics/episodes!

Joyless feminist buzzkillSex with strangers (podcast) addcitionI love to learn about human sexuality. When scratching this itch of mine, I usually find myself rolling my eyes at dense, judgemental people acting flabbergasted at stuff I've known about since I was a teenager. Even without that, with how much I read about sex it's usually pretty hard to keep my eyes from glazing over. However this podcast is exactly what I need for that itch! It's full of funny, semi-educational, thought-provoking people and stories. Not only does Chris have a great radio voice he really knows how to grab your attention at the head of a podcast. Most of the podcast is necessary background information or the interviews, and not just Chris giving his two cents. He is incrediably non-judgemental but at the same time doesn't gloss over the dark sides of whatever topics he's covering. I would not recommend this to somebody who wants titilation, that's not what this podcast aims for. I would also not recommend this to somebody who isn't a big old sex-postive feminist. I would say the downsides of this podcast may be the fact that you can only scratch the surface of some topics he covers with a 1 hour podcast so you maybe disappointed when a certain subtopic is barely or not touched on. The other downside would be he sometimes goes off on tangents. He may spend a good chunk of a podcast just talking to one person's unique experiences...while I usually find it interesting sometimes it's annoying to go into a podcast expecting X but instead you get mostly something only tangiably related. I would not recommend this podcast to someone who wants titaliation (you may find it so but that's not it's aim) and I would not recommend this to someone who's not a big, old, sex-positive feminist. Otherwise this is an engaging, smart, funny podcast for those who like to hear and learn about the diverse experiences of human sexuality!

Ratman_42The only problem .. . .I heard about this podcast on the RISK podcast. The only problem is that I have almost binge listened to the backlog and will now have to wait for new episodes. I hate waiting 😏

-
Miles Lewis artistVery ImportantI've never heard the depth and breadth that Chris manages on some of these topics. Great work. I think that Chris' delivery and humor can be a bit stilted and flat which may prevent this podcast from having a larger response. Perhaps they could tool with the format and presentation a bit to game for a bigger audience. We need more people to hear these stories.

BbbbbbbbbbbbecksLoveAbsolutely love this podcast! Keep up the great work!

StechrisigAddictively EntertainingI actually found this podcast by accident, and I am so thankful that I did. Just when I thought I had heard/seen it all, I hear this podcast and realize that I know nothing, Jon Snow. Chris Sowa does such an incredible job of bringing to light the many extreme and interesting differences in all of us that make us all so unique. Thank you for your great work, Chris. I am thoroughly entertained.

Sc123459Informative and EntertainingI love this show. I am always impressed by the depth of the research and the level of conscientiousness shown by the host. It tackles important and interesting issues. Would recommend this show to all my friends who love to learn and talk dirty. The mixture of seriousness and levity is perfect, as is the theme music.

BaltoSwayzeI Can't Thank You EnoughAs someone who, within the last few years, stopped being a born-again Christian and has since sought to expand and enlighten my perspective on sex, I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon this podcast. Not only has it helped me in my journey to form an emotionally and psychologically healthy relationship with sex in my own life, but it has also illuminated and made inspiring pockets of certain cultures that I heretofore thought of only judgmentally, if not derisively. Giving the individuals on this podcast a platform to open the eyes of a newbie such as myself is a wonderful deed, Chris, and I am very grateful to you for doing it.
