Like the OCR talk, hate the potty mouth and blasphemy
Keep your kids away from this one. Matt has a potty mouth and his taking God’s name (like he did on the episode on Tough Mudder in I think Saudi Arabia) in vain is really not ok.

    Not an Obstacle Racing Podcast
Little to do with OCR. Mostly unedited ramblings of a man who once did an obstacle race or two and now pays his bills podcasting.

Not good for a family podcast

Best all encompassing OCR Media Podcast
Matt and Dave are great! I'm a big supporter of the sport. Lots of good information on everything obstacle course racing, whether it's obstacles, hybrid, long endurance ultras, etc... Lots of interviews with some of the biggest athletes, operators, trainers, and brands in the sport. Good humor and a light-hearted conversations are enjoyable and entertaining. Dedicated content with 2 sometimes 3 podcasts a week.

OCR podcast or a wrestling podcast? You decide.
It’s hard to believe that’s such an unprofessional podcast can earn someone a living! The only thing this podcast has going for it anymore is Ugly Dave. Dave is consistently having to keep Matt on track and has to steer him back to relevant OCR and hybrid racing topics. When you talk more about wrestling then OCR you shouldn’t call yourself an OCR podcast. Constant unedited interruptions and Matt had to be reminded near the end of his latest episode that spartan race had the second race of their national series this upcoming weekend because he was too busy talking about wrestling. When you can remember who won the wrestling matches 15 years ago but you can’t remember who won the first race of the spartan national series this year it may be time to get out of the obstacle course racing game. Matt’s heart obviously isn’t in it anymore, it’s just a source of revenue now.

    Dave steadies the ship
Overall a good podcast, but if you’re looking for strictly OCR content you may want to look somewhere else. Lots of talk of wrestling and other non-OCR topics. Some podcasts contain very little OCR content. The podcast has greatly improved since Dave has joined. Dave keeps it from being 3 stars.

Josh Chase - Ignorant, uninformed, pompous a-hole
Pick a different cohost and get Josh off your platform. Josh has attacked multiple people on podcasts, and social media including top Spartan pro team & OCR athletes. Talking amongst the community the consensus is the same, Josh Chase does not belong in OCR. He calls himself an OCR “elitist” and bashes anybody who is not elite on their efforts, accomplishments and personal beliefs. OCR is a community driven on camaraderie and lifting each other up, Josh does the opposite of this by bringing his holier than thou attitude to every conversation/interaction he has. Ask anybody in the OCR community. He searches social media to prey on women for their beliefs and be a keyboard warrior. An absolute coward move. I know multiple people who do not listen to this podcast anymore because Josh Chase is affiliated with it. Matt B. Davis and other co-hosts do an amazing job of coverage and encouraging a positive community. I have been a fan of ORM since the early days, but bringing Josh Chase onto this platform was the wrong choice and I encourage Matt to make a change ASAP.

    It’s Pod-tastic!
I love listening to this podcast dedicated to the elite sport of obstacle course racing! It’s really a wonderful source for OCR news and information, and you don’t have to worry about listening to it with the kids around. Will is a great host and runs a top notch program. Well done.

    Absolutely horrible.
I used to enjoy listening to this podcast, but grew tired of the poor production quality and declining professionalism. Well, after tuning in for the first time in about a year... it’s gotten worse. These episodes are now just rambling nonsense. Save yourself the time and listen to anything else.

    Ok. Not Great!
I think it’s been said before, this podcast is the TMZ of OCR. Matt the host, frequently interrupts his guests and it seems many of his references and analogies get lost in translation in which many of his guests don’t know what he’s speaking about or referring to when discussing certain topics. The Running Public podcast is much better.

    Love it
I really enjoy this podcast. It’s OCR and so much more. I love the OCR talk, the random rants and discussions on various topics, good stuff. I love and look forward to the Friday Nitty Gritty podcast every week with Grit Coaches Faye and Jess!

They seem to really dislike a guy named Gary but I also dislike anyone named Gary, so I’m a fan. Sometimes they talk about OCR too. 10/10 would recommend

    A little of everything
OK so a little of everything is stretching it but this is a great podcast that covers a lot of ground. Good information about current state of OCR, fun insight into the lives of athletes, fun BS sessions with D&C too.

Matt, loving the content lately!!! Keep up the great work!!!

    Informative and entertaining
Just listened to the Bad Boy Running episode and this is by far top 3 on my episode list. MBD has been consistent and informative, especially with all the tough mudder and spartan saga news. Love Davis and Chace with guest appearances, the interviews, and the random entertainment news that comes from OCR and running. Keep up the good work and I’ll keep coming back for more. Can’t wait for the next bad boy running collaboration.

    Hilarious & informative
This show gets me through the week! Whether it’s the latest on OCR or just going off on random topics, I always find myself entertained listening to you guys. Keep up the awesome work 👍🏼

A fun light hearted podcast that talks about obstacle racing and other topics. I always seem to laugh about something that’s said each week.

    Awesome Podcast!!
This podcast offers a good amount of value if you are interested in the OCR and even the trail racing scene. While sometimes the audio and editing could be better, the content is solid and Matt’s is a great host and interviewer. I’m happy to have another medium to find out more about all these interesting athletes with very different backgrounds. Great job! -Danny @ OD Stream

Entertaining, Real, and Simply the BEST
I have been running Spartans since 2013 and this is still my go to Podcast and place for OCR info. If you want the REAL ORC gossip and inside this is the place to be. Matt is honest about himself, Race positives and negatives, and his love of the sport. This is the first review I have written for a podcast because....simply I never think about it. Matt would have gotten 1000 stars for all the times I been inspired by him, he has made me laugh, or even think! His voice and stories go with me on my walks with the dog, training runs, car rides, or workouts in the gym. He is the one CONSISTENT voice in thie OCR Podcast space. If you only have time for one this is the the one to listen to. I hope he continues to grow his brand and business! Thanks Matt for keeping this 42 year old inspired and entertained!

    Keep it going
Matt does a great job mixing comedy and OCR news and info. Fun to listen to, great interviews. Keep up the great work Matt!

    Love the coverage
I’m relatively new to the world of podcasts, but have to say I’m so stoked to have found a medium to enjoy content that is both in depth and current. Loved the Spata interview. Dude sounds totally genuine and I’m a believer. In fact, I think I’m going to try to fit a Terrain race into my busy Spartan season and try to draw out some friends and family. Thank you for what you do, Matt!

    This works
I don’t like to listen to people talk. I don’t like people. I like this podcast. The only podcast I listen to focusing on things that interest me while keeping my attention.

    Update on terrain race
Yes I am that victor that has won the most Terran races. I have over 40 big checks and also i don’t know how to write you a note so I have to leave you another review so you’re welcome for another 5 star review😄 see you in Jacksonville.

    Going deep! Love it!
Loved the recent podcast with Anders Varner and how you explored stepping up your podcast game. I’ve been listening for a couple years and I really have enjoyed your unique approach to covering the OCR scene. Keep bringing us the “out of the box” shenanigans!

    ORM review
Been a huge fan of the show for a long time. Youve been the OG of the obstacle racing world and really one of the only if not THE only show that consistently gets put out once a week. I personally would rather that consistency than a beautifully editted show with all the cute soundbites that comes out once every two months. Its very much appreciated you that don't skirt around the issues when you have someone like Joe de Sena or that Nostrodamus Battlefrog podcast and have the balls to ask the hard questions. The free flow conversations are great but sometimes it seems like you havent done much research going into your shows. When some topics come up about certain events and who won what, it seems like you're asking your guest alot of stuff that most of the listeners actually know. Not a big deal however. Justifiable with how much content you put out. Keep up the good work. PS. I think a cool idea for some shows would be a quick 5 minute call in with some of the bigger or more important names of the past that we haven't heard from in a while instead of always hearing from Ryan Woods on every show (even though we all love Woodsy, except that one guy)it would have been good to know that Trevor was running that race across Scotland or Amelia was going to run Barkley (even though she woukldnt have been able to tell us that) People like Junyoung Pak, Hobie Call, Rose Wentzel, Norm Koch, Coach Pain would all be great to hear from even if they don't have anything going on other than eating cake and getting fat.

    Best Podcast Ever!
Fiiiiive stars! Started listening 2 years ago after my first race, with the consistent race updates and knowledgeable insight from pros, Matt keeps me always looking forward to the next episode! “Sooo...is there anything else you’d like to talk about?”

    OCR ...
I struggle with the review because on one hand I like the podcast but on the other hand several areas could really be improved upon. Obviously lots of people give 5* so this is just my opinion for a constructive review. For the most part, my friends and family don't curse but it doesn't bother me if others do; but I wish you would either edit (bad word I know :-) or just not throw out the F bombs. Can no longer listen in the car as it seems to be more prevalent or maybe my kids notice it more now. The sound quality could be improved upon as it seems from week to week it changes. On that topic, sometimes sounds like you are doing dishes or something in the background when guests are talking. The guests and content discussed are usually awesome and I loved the trails you went down with the Ryan's .... great show. If this was just a joe schmo doing it out of basement for fun then I wouldn't even had mentioned the two items above but ORM is supposed to be the best and professional outfit so hold Matt to higer standard. For now give it a 3.5 but if the sound improves (up to a 4) and the bombs disappear then I definitely upgrade to a 5!

    Is this too long?
Matt B. Davis, You rock? (I do not know the proper introduction for a podcast review.) Always great content and the raw recording is nostalgic to a time when podcasts were not sponsored by every ‘disruptive’ mattress companies and job board website. Two Ryans was great. Do you think you could pull off the Ryan-triumvirate with the added Kent? The latest episode with Hunter was solid, but the extended clip of Rebecca Black at the end was cruel and unusual. I was sure it was not going to be that long because of usage rights, but I was wrong. I considered throwing my phone in the street mid run. Keep up the solid work. (I also do not know how long these reviews should be, so I apologize if this is too verbose.)

    Awesome Podcast
The one and only OCR podcast I listen to. Informative and light hearted. Love the conversation style interviews rather than the scripted monologues or hyped up nonsense of the other ocr podcasts. Loved the Barkley interviews.

5 Stars - ORM is great
Matt continues to bring the later OCR news and content, as well as remaining entertaining. The episodes with the Ryans or Ryan and Krakker were great. Matt is also very personable at races. I’ve seen him at multiple events, and he’s always been very approachable. Hope to see you at some future events this year. Keep up the great work.

    THE #1 OCR Podcast!
Hands down the best OCR podcast to date. I’ve only been listening to podcasts for 6 months or so and every time a new ORM episode comes out it’s a must listen right away. Matt keeps it real and fun on every episode. Sometimes it goes to places so far from OCR but that’s what’s so great about it! Both of the “Two Ryan’s” episodes were podcast gold. Would be great to see some more of those types on shows with different athletes. Keep up the good work Matt!

    Enjoyment from abroad
As someone who was stateside for a few years in the OCR community, now that I’m back down under it’s great to hear all the latest REAL chats with athletes, CEOs, Race Directors etc etc... Matt, as you self profess, your REAL interviews are such a great approach. I don’t think I have been as well entertained in a long times as I was with the 2 Ryans pt.2 - I love how this community can all get along so well and make fun of each other and love on each other at the same time. There is no sport in the world IMO that is as fun and your get to spearhead most of the top stuff! Thanks for continuing to bring us foreigners the latest and best info we can get our ear holes onto! Much love from Australia (come down to an Aussie race weekend sometime!) Mikey!

    Entertainment for my long runs
I got sucked into OCR in 2016 by my trainer Amber; first saw/heard Matt in her husband Scott's documentary Rise of the Sufferfests, been listening fairly regularly ever since. Now training for my first marathon in hopes that it will force me to build enough endurance so I can finish Spartan Tahoe Beast in a reasonable amount of time (as opposed to the 9+ hours it took in 2016/2017). This morning's long run took 3 episodes, during which I heard the reminder to leave a rating/review on iTunes 3 times, so I finally am. Thanks for keeping me entertained, Matt!

    Entertaining Podcast
Love this Podcast! Matt does a great job connecting with the OCR community and connects that with his audience. He keeps the show real, covers an array of events and races, and different athletes. Congratulations on episode 300, I look forward to the next 300!

    One of the worst
This podcast has so much potential and would be one of the best as Matt manages to get some of the best guests in OCR to come on. The problem with this show is multifaceted. First, the host is too scatter brained to generate cohesive ideas. Second, sound quality is generally lacking. Third, the host spends most of the time sort of rambling. Hunter mentioned to throw some shade at Matt so here it is: he never fails to not disappoint. It’s frustrating because it could be good. Shame.

    Entertaining
Matt B. Davis does an excellent job covering all aspects and brands of obstacle course racing, and he does it with wit and enthusiasm and a pull-no-punches honest approach that makes for a very entertaining podcast. One of my absolute favorites.

    FIVE STARS
I have been doing OCR for a few years now. I have been listening to ORM the entire time. I like the off the cuff version of his interviews. It is like we are listening in on a casual conversation instead of a rigid structured interview. Great job. Best podcast in OCR.

    Entertaining
I enjoy the interviews and industry insight. Keep up the great work and churning out content.

    Outro
Long time listener to the show, definitely my favorite ORC podcast. I’m very late to leaving a review, especially since you’ve read an email from me on the show. What finally pushed me to do this was my 16 month old daughter. When the outro song came on, she started to smile, bounce, and dance. I fully support anything that makes her happy, and now, that includes ORM.
  • Puc2000
    Always entertaining
Great podcast. Love this one and Obstacle dominator. Love that Matt doesn’t edit everything, it keeps things interesting. The conversations are entertaining not just the same boring questions some of the other podcasts ask.
  • Jeffephoto
    Excellent ... but ...
Matt knows his stuff. There’s no denying it. He’s been doing this forever and knows everyone and everyone knows him, however, the comfort in knowing that has made his content suffer. I am laid back and appreciate laid back people, but the “I don’t edit” thing is getting a little old. I was so excited to listen to the coverage of the Barkley Marathons. The coverage was fun but there were times where I was literally listening to rain falling. That can work in a video doc but on a podcast, it’s almost insulting. On many episodes, audio is an issue. The newest one with Killian, I’m still listening to the intro and the sound is terrible. After this many episodes, how can the sound ever be in question? Listen to the other top podcasts in other categories. They never sound bad. They never order food at a restaurant or eat while talking. They don’t have their kids talk on mic. I appreciate Matt trying to stay true to himself, but it’s time to step it up. You’re the leader of the OCR world for now, but that’s only because nobody has been around as long. If you want to ask for reviews and try to stay ahead of the competition, you have to excel in every area. Anyway, this all comes from love. I still listen to every episode as soon as it comes out, I just keep my finger on the fast forward button.
