Bill WinnetkaShould be 10 starsExcellent little five minute lesson every day he explains and uses other examples good practice for listening and speaking excellent
-
LizaavbPerfectIt’s just perfect
-
AChampouxExcellentI appreciate that he stays in French and uses explanation in French to understand. People rating it low clearly don’t understand the value. It’s not a beginners French course.
-
InWashingtonDCExcellentFantastic lessons and he has clear pronunciation with a charming accent. I could listen to him all day.

DailylearnImprove your French with daily practiceI try to listen to this excellent podcast each day as Louis consistently teaches a new vocabulary word. There is a helpful English translation of each lesson and Louis repeats the phrase several times. This is definitely geared toward Intermediate learners, so might overwhelm a beginner. Thank you and merci bien for creating this podcast.

iminikiThe worstThe worst language podcast ever

DrRickNilesAdsAds about as long as content. Sound is muddy.

sil_spinaCoolI like the method. The small text helps to focus and the explanation is very clear. 5 stars.

SCB1143Un podcast incroyableThis is one of my favorite French podcasts for so many reasons. I first listen to Louis read the paragraph without pre-reading it or the translation. This serves as an awesome test for my listening skills. As he breaks the text down and explains it, I read along with the description and comb through it for new vocabulary, all while still testing my listening skills as the phrases and words are explained in French. Then, at the end when Louis reads it again, I read along with him for pronunciation practice. I am so grateful for these quick little tidbits of French lessons to test myself when I have a few free minutes in my day and in between my “formal” French lessons, as I am learning it for work-related purposes.

TravelGalUTGreat podcast for maintaining my skillsThis podcast is the perfect length and level to help me maintain my French skills. It’s not for new beginners, but it’s not too hard. It’s also just the right length for a quick every day review.

kcd66026384Very effective for language learning !I love learning languages and have spent time learning French, Italian, and Spanish. I wish this podcast was available in languages other than French because I find this method very effective as a reinforcement of the learning process completed using other methods. I supplement my learning with more traditional methods, but I highly recommend Louis!
-
EllWyCharGreatI use more than one platform for learning French and this one really helps with understanding it in better detail but I would not recommend useing it by itself because while it is helpful it only helped me when I already ahead a somewhat understanding of French.

qwertyasdjlkcv, ansdfas.lfklNot For LearningWhat I learn from this podcast is that the narrator knows how to enunciate French, and you and I don't. He doesn't teach even a single phrase. This is for intermediate to advanced learners. By listening you will learn pronunciation maybe, but not what the words mean, so there's little point for beginners unless they simply want to start being enveloped in the language and are willing to learn slowly over a period of years. The Duolingo Spanish podcast is something I can actually follow and involves teaching. I hope that Duolingo will introduce more languages as podcasts. I already study French, Dutch, Hindi and Russian through them (without podcasts yet) and have actually learned stuff! :)

riverain20851Excellent method for learning to understand FrenchThis is a great podcast for getting used to hearing French spoken at normal speeds. It is good for someone who has learned some French already and wants to accelerate their understanding.
-
Jazzypants99Great formatI wish I'd discovered this podcast ages ago! I love the way Louis presents a short dialogue and then rather than translating, he talks you through each line (in French) using a variety of synonyms and sentence structures so that gradually you understand what's going on. The first time through the clip I'm always missing something, and then after Louis explains it and plays the clip I'm so excited I can understand it all! Such a great way to practice listening and pick up some vocabulary at the same time.

FgkniutffffhrLove it! Advanced "beginner" practicePerfect for "beginners" who already have a good grasp of basic French and want to practice listening comprehension. Short, entertaining conversations that he summarizes nicely using only French (spoken slowly). If you are a "beginner" in the sense that you want to learn French and are just starting out, this will probably be too hard for you.
-
ErimoliLove! Perfect for the metro!I love this podcast! After completing an elementary French course, this has been a great way to practice my listening skills and my verbal skills. I listen to it on my commute every day.
-
Big Dawg RCShort but helpfulI really enjoy the dialogue and explanation format of this podcast.
-
MimiznotesExcellent podcastVery practical and informative, not for beginners but rather intermediate level. The best French podcast I have discovered on Itunes.

Missjinx33:(I just wanna learn French! :(

KarikarikariiiiAwesome PodcastThis podcast is definitely not for beginners- but for those who have some experience it is a really great podcast! What I like most is that everything is explained in French instead of the usual French-English translation--I think this helps with retention and helps you improve expression. Thank you so much!

MinniePoohBearFrench for BeginnersOkay, maybe not for beginner - beginners, however, this is EXCELLENT!!! I LOVE IT!! I've been studying French for 4 years and this is the BEST podcast I have ever heard!!! I HIGHLY recommend it.
-
hedgehogs in sapceuh....this is the worst out of all. it would be a little helpful if he taught you what he was saying. Trig or quantum physics is easier to learn.
-
Narutocoo19ExcellentI am really loving the podcasts. The creator uses a great format. This is a wonderful way to refresh French knowledge. I agree with the others when they say that its for the more advanced beginner. It really helps with listening skills and comprehending others whose native language is French because that is definitely the most difficult for me. Until I'm able to live in France for a while and be totally immersed in the language, this is the next best thing.
-
HansologoGreat resource!I am an 'advanced' beginner and this is a great resource for improving listening skills. It may be difficult for someone who knows absolutely nothing about the language, because even the first episode jumps right into French conversation. I love the fact that the entire episode is in French, which is a natural way to learn a language. There is no translation, no unnecessary talk in English, and the recording is very clear. If you're looking for a great resource to listen to French while not having the privilege of living in France, this is the way to go.

WeenorvilleWord of dayBring back word of the day. This short explanation with sentences of slang and everyday conversation was perfect.

CheshireQatGood for reviewing FrenchAs another reviewer has stated - this podcast may be better suited for advanced beginners. I had three years of French in college (20+ years ago) so it's very easy for me to understand. That being said, however, I think absolute beginners will also benefit as Louis speaks very clearly and then explains in English. I recommend this podcast...and please keep them coming! Merci!
-
thailandflipsideTres bien!Of course this is not for beginners. If you don't know a lick of French then this might not be the podcast for you. Understand that before rating. This is a great way to learn French if you have previously taken some lessons and want to refresh the subject and want to bring back the things you learned. I love this podcast and am glad I found an easy way to continue learning it in an easy medium through my iPhone.
-
statikdog???not for actual beginners. kind of a lame title considering.

SQ33I love this podcast, never boringThis is the best way to learn French for me. I just wish the podcasts were longer! Can never get enough :)
-
still_learning_frenchgreat podcastthis is a great podcast for non-beginners. he pronounces the words and phrases slowly but not too slow and uses the context of a dialogue to define words. other times he give straight definitions and example sentences. he also gives synonyms for verbs, which is a great and easy way to expand vocabulary. the lessons are short, which are i also love. this is the best french podcast for me!
-
ammbsLove your productPlease keep it coming! English speakers trying to learn French need your services.
-
MikeecaputoNot a beginner podcast.I first want to say what a well-developed podcast this is! I recently subscribed and in my spare time and have been listening to it. I am a french student who has just completed my 3rd year and I don't think that this podcast is for beginners. I would reccomend that begining french learners check out "Coffee break french". There, you will learn the basics. With "French for beginners", you learn some basic vocabulary but, at the same time, intermediate/advanced grammer, which could be very confusing. I wouldn't waste your time if you have no prior french experence. Although, if you do have prior french experience, I would highly reccomend this podcast as it will improve you listening skills greatly! Great podcast! Keep them coming!
-
SuperSeerGreat Teaching! The Best French podcast on itunes! :)

-
Seth77Great for immersion practiceI just learned about these French language podcasts as I start to refresh my long dormant French so that I can work and use it abroad. I have to say that so far this is the best podcast I have found so far. The fact that it is all in French, that they even explain the meaning of words in French instead of switching to English, is important to me because it requires you to know French well enough that you can understand when someone is trying to explain something to you. If you are willing to shell out a few bucks, check out their web site too because you can get complete transcripts and a bunch of other cool language learning aids there.

ttheresaa xx oo?i have nooooo idea what this guy is saying or how i am supposed to learn from it!! i listened to the first 2 minutes and all it is, is him speaking french! I need to know how to speak french because i am going on a european cruiseee thiss summer!!! anyone who can help??
-
Jack14MacOnly One Problem...I DONT SPEAK FRENCH! They should do something else cuz i listened to it and i had a look on my face blanker a than a sheet of paper.
-
FrenchMamaTres bien!Great podcast that introduces new vocabulary in context. I'm an intermediate French speaker and I find some of the podcasts easy (which makes me feel good about my progress) and most are challenging enough to keep my interest but not lead to frustration. Louis speaks slowly and clearly, but not so slow that it sounds unnatural. I love that the podcasts follow a storyline and I can't wait each week to find out what happens to Jose and Marie next!
-
_RG_Amazing!This is a great podcast! It isn't cheesy like most learn-to-speak-French materials, and the storylines are engrossing. I always look forward to the next episode, and it's a great way to improve my listening comprehension.
-
LadyDaiLove this podcast - for advanced beginners thoughI am currently working on the video vocabulary lessons. One thing I love about them is that they are conducted almost entirely in French. Since I am an advanced beginner, I can understand most of what the instructor says, but I think I might be a bit lost if I knew no French whatsoever. If I were a true beginner, I would take a few of the other podcast courses that are taught in English and French first or concurrently, and then come back to this for immersion. It is perfect for testing your French listening skills!
-
Rob O'ConnellEntertaining and easy to learn. The format mostly follows this recipe: a dialog at normal speed, followed by slower analysis in french where the phrases are read again but more slowly and in differing ways. Then the dialog comes one more time at regular speed. The voices are clear, and the stories I listen to develop over time somewhat, which I also like.
-
Sparrowlvrsparrow_pirate_lvrOui, this is an awesome way to learn French. I would recommed it to anybody who doesn't know French, and wants to. But what's even cooler is that I am the first to write a review! Yeah! Have fun all you French-learners!!!!! xD
