Well produced with good sound quality. Fun and easy to follow story. Love all of the guest appearances with my favorite so far being the professor and the baby frog voice when she took the Russian doll stacking potion lol. Theme music is awesome!! Shout out to Muhlenberg College

    Why u need to listen
Here are all the reason why you should listen. Great voices, great characters, wholesome fun, story the teases and titillates, brilliant for inspirations and fantastic way of a different dnd show. Although them simple stating their rolls of the five can feel a bit hollow, understanding that that is part of the story telling method and if you pay attention you can still hear the excitement in their voice. The way the detail what their characters do and descriptions is amazing for new players to hear as it provides different ways to RP and immersion

    Very good
Amazing podcast the only thing I don’t like is how they edit out all the player talk and We don’t hear the funny stuff.

    Thank god!
I’m just a kid, but I’ve been searching for a good DnD podcast that doesn’t curse because I’m into DnD, but school and sports don’t let me play. I’m so glad that I finally found a podcast! I only listened to about 10 minutes of the first episode and I’m hooked! Great podcast for kids and adults alike who love DnD or role playing games!!! ( By the way, Frog, your my favorite! 99% sure your a robot tho)

    Awesome D&D podcast!
Although I’m just two episodes in as of writing this, the storytelling is amazing and it’s a great podcast to listen to.

    Best podcast ever! 💗💗💗
I loved this podcast SO much and they suggested so many other great podcasts! I can’t wait for every new episode I wait every week for the episode on Monday. The Re-Slayers Take is such a amazing blend of acting and free play D and D it got me used to playing D and D and made me even more excited for the games I play!

Finally! A family friendly actual play!
I love Critical Role, but it’s not safe for little ears. My son, 8, and I are big in the hobby and I’ve been hunting for a game we could listen to. This has become a huge gift for us! Thank you so much for making space for families!

    Only two episodes in, but
Even though the story seems fun and engaging, the pacing and editing is very jarring. It’s especially evident in the starts of episodes ( as mentioned in other reviews), but also all the rolls feel very sped up and make it hard to process what is happening. I hope in the future things slow down a bit and let the listen enjoy the ride instead of trying to catch up.
  • Angriestjoker
    Fantastic from beginning to end!
If you’re a critical role fan, seriously give this podcast a shot! Amazing characters, impeccable encounters, and chalk full of wholesome. Crossing my fingers for a season 2

    Good podcast, weirdly disjointed episodes
So I listened to the entire full season of the podcast. I really like the characters and how they describe their actions. However, the way the episodes are edited together is weird. It’s hard to describe, but when a new episode starts the characters are sometimes in a completely unrelated place to where they were at the end of the previous episode. It’s incredibly disjointing and confusing. Several times I’ve thought I must have skipped an episode and go back to listen to the previous one only to realize that I did in fact listen to the whole thing already. I don’t know if there’s like bonus episodes or something that fill in the gaps because I only listen to the free version, but none of the other DnD shows I listen to have this problem. It’s really aggravating and detracts from what is otherwise a really good show.

Love this podcast! Great characters and great voice acting.

    Awesome!
I’m just a kid, but this is way better than Critical Role! Why? Well, it doesn’t have bad language and it’s really fun to listen to! Yeah!

    The goat
I love it so much! I have to say Edrin is my favorite:) You inspired me to start my own D&D campaign I would kill to see Ryan Reynolds’s on this (Deadpool I can’t spell 😂)

    I LOVE RESLAYERS TAKE!!!!
I love this podcast, the crew and how fast and easy to follow along it is Great for a first time listener to enjoy As well as well timed humor Jasper love when you actually make up spells 😁😁😁

    Fantastic Exploration of Exandria!!
So glad CR is growing their story with other creators. The characters are so fun and enjoyable to listen to. I love the co-DMing going on and how they produced this with the “actual play” portions edited down to just the roll results. For those complaining that it’s too polished or that it’s all scripted just don’t understand what is really going on with this show, probably the same people who think CR is scripted.. lol Please enjoy some crazy fun in this show, don’t overthink it! Btw Heera’s voice is what I look forward to the most 😊
  • Seper77
    Very fun and re-freshing
It’s a fun take on the traditional ttrpg podcast
  • Thecorn
    Feels like an audio book
This isn’t like an actual play. It’s very polished, edited and produced. It feels more like an audio book. I enjoy it, it’s different from other dnd podcasts I listen to. However it can feel sterile at times. There isn’t much excitement around the dice rolls. Good story, well performed, and entertaining.

Not For Fans of Actual Play
If you’re looking for an actual play podcast, this is not for you. It’s so edited and highly produced I question whether or the players actually ever sit down at a table together (virtual or otherwise). If you want a highly produced story, you’ll probably enjoy it.
  • GWU in SF
More “books on tape” than “actual play”
What a let down. It’s hard to believe this came from Critical Role. I’m completely a Critical Role champion and I’m just shocked at how difficult this was to listen to. I know early episodes can be rough but everyone read their lines and the GMs might as well have been ChatGPT. The whole thing felt so mechanical. The only thing I can think of is they are trying to teach people how to play D&D by delivering their lines so mechanically but it was clear every line was being read. That completely loses the actual play feel and then just becomes a retelling narration of the game they played last week at home. If the voice acting was good maybe it would be redeeming but it was difficult to listen to with unlikeable characters. I found it more pleasant when the actors spoke out of character in their normal voices than in their character voices. As I think about it, I think ChatGPT would have had more variety in how it moderated combat so I take that previous comment back.
  • ClosetGeek83
    High production, low comedy
I came to this having never listened to Critical Roll, but instead had started with The Adventure Zone and Dungeons and Daddies. It has a good story and very high production value, but it turns out I like my D&D party silly, only vaguely aware of the rules, and with lots of table talk. So Critical Roll is for when you’re here for the story, TAZ and Dungeons and Daddies is for when you want to feel like you’re sitting at the table with your friends, one of whom can never remember what he has for spells.
  • ChurchillTBird
    This is fun
I usually only listen to humor based dnd podcasts, but this one’s great, although it’s not the type of TTRPG podcast I usually listen to.
  • Skatfitzpat
    Finally family friendly AP Content
I’m listening to as much as I can before a family road trip this summer (my kiddo needs a warning before anything remotely tense) and I’m hooked! So excited to share this with the rest of my family!
  • rfleait
    It’s cute.
It’s not really what I expected, and seems either really hyper-edited, or actually scripted, despite the intro saying it isn’t, but it’s still a cute story. It’s creative, and so far the characters are endearing.
  • PencilEater
    Don’t hate it
I don’t hate it and will most likely continue listening, but the excessive editing brings it down for me. It claims that it isn’t scripted but I honestly doubt it.
  • SoulFire21
    Missing Something
I was excited to see another Critical Role podcast, but it’s missing that something special that the main Critical Role show, other good actual-play shows, or shows like Midst have.

    Best DnD podcast ever
I got into DnD a year ago and am about to DM my own campaign. This podcast is the best one I’ve found and the voices are great.

    Thrilling
This is beyond fantastic! Didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. My kids and I love it.
  • CHANCETHEHUMAN
    Interesting concept
Really interested to see more stories told inside of the critical role universe and the slayers take seems like a fun first step into that direction. However, at the beginning of the first episode they make it a point to say that everything is improvised and not at all scripted, yet it sounds incredibly scripted and rehearsed. This has great potential , hopefully they figure out a way to make it sound less rehearsed and more of the improvisational style that was promised.

Love the show! Love the cast! Frog fan for life!

    Great concept and storytelling
Love this new way to tell stories in a familiar (beloved) world. The cast is excellent, and the editing makes for an immersive AP experience that I’m really enjoying. Can’t wait to hear more!

    Accessible and Innovative
While some DnD podcasts can seem daunting to start, Hero Club has a knack for setting the stage early and clearly so you can dive right in. As always, the characters feel fleshed out and well crafted, and the post-production brings an unparalleled sense of realism that makes the story come to life. I’ve been following Hero Club for years. And in their biggest project yet, they’ve reached a new pinnacle in storytelling.

    For everyone! Seriously!
This is already an exciting, funny, edge-of-your-seat adventure! Perfect for the people in your life who love good stories but don’t understand how ttrpgs create those stories, and ttrpgs lovers both—this may be the perfect fiction podcast. Did I mention you can also let your kids listen!? This is the summer roadtrip podcast you need in your life.

    A new spin of D
The way they narrate their actions like narrators of their own chapters in a book is so clever and immersive. It’s such a unique style that I can’t believe no one has ever done it before. I know it won’t be for everyone but I adored how it moved the story forward.
