Sherlock & Co.

My name is Dr. John Watson, once of the British Army Northumberland Fusilier Regiment, now a true crime podcaster based in Central London. I don't have much experience in criminology, so this is mostly a record of how I met possibly the most brilliant and bizarre person I have ever (and will ever) know. Join me as I document the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This podcast is property of Goalhanger Podcasts.Copyright 2023.SHERLOCK AND CO.Based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

    Anything But Elementary
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson feel like old friends of mine. I poured through all of Arthur Conan Doyle’s stories, watched the Sherlock BBC show, and dug up as much info as I could on the creation of what can only be called the legend of Sherlock Holmes. 221B Baker Street is one of those locations where I can just pick up a Sherlock Holmes story and I walk into the flat and I know it’s every corner and instantly feel like all is right with the world. That being said, to find more stories of Sherlock and John is an absolute joy. You have both their characters down pat, and I particularly love your John Watson. I must go now. The game is afoot…

    Stunning!!!
Absolutly stunning! I am captivated, blown away and in awe at this artistry, let alone flawless (in my opinion) depiction of the merry crew of 221B bakers street! Every episode is like honey, the cases are gripping and the characters, their developments and their real tangible growth through these audio drama style pod casts, just has me IN LOVE!! Well done. WELL DONE. BRAVO!

One of the best podcasts out there. Hilarious and captivating. I binged the first few seasons, then I started to savor each of the remaining seasons. Really hope you guys keep going, it’s awesome!!

    Wonderful
I’m a huge fan of the original Sherlock Holmes stories. These are a really terrific reimagining of them in the present day. Great stories, acting, and sound. One of my new favorite podcasts.

    Such Potential, But I’m Done
Great take on classic characters. The music and editing is awesome. But…the scripts ruin a sophisticated production with vulgar, crass language, humor and topics, as well as constant social commentary.

Best thing since the bbc series
I love this so much! It's such a cool new way to view the Sherlock Holmes classic! I love the dynamic of Watson and Sherlock! It's so sweet, and I love the adventures!

    Yes - absolutely.
I’m a fan of the original stories and have read them all. AND, this is a fantastic take on the stories and characters. It’s well acted, well produced, engaging. Absolutely my favorite show these days.

    Excellent!!
The stories are compelling, the acting is top notch, the writing is really amazing - funny, heartbreaking, amusing, surprising. Also shows how much better a production can be with really good music! Love it!!

Cannot get enough! I rather listen than watch TV.

Edith Miser would be proud. Too Nigel-ized
These new “true crime” Holmes stories follow the original plot lines quite faithfully! So there is no real mystery for ACD fans (like me). The pleasure in listening is familiarity (“Watson, remember your service revolver”) blended with modernity (cyber robbery, social media and catfishing) ACD wrote 50-60 Holmes stories. Half hour radio shows using the same characters ran weekly 1939-47 approximately, most were written by Edith Miser for Basil Rathbone or Tom Conway with Nigel Bruce narrating as Watson. Unfortunately most of the over 200 episodes are apparently lost but 50 or so mostly announced by harry bartell are widely available, usually with wine, hair cream or suit commercials retained. The 20 or so existing 1940’s radio adaptations derived directly from Conan Doyle stories were very close to the original though much abridged. However the majority of scripts (>100) were invented entirely by Edith Miser and maybe a colleague just for radio! Some were clever, but could be quite lame. This podcast has CLEVER VERISIMILITUDE. But I think it’s OVER NIGIL-ized. ie: The radio versions made Dr Watson an oaf for comic relief largely because Nigil Bruce was excellent at such portrayal. The narrator here is also oafish UNLIKE THE ACD ORIGINALS. I think it goes too far. I LOVE MARTA! A worthy addition to the cast if not the mythology. Dr Watson perpetuates the stereotype that British doctors are dopey. If only it were funny or entertaining…

    Wow!
The writing. The storytelling. The ability to draw us in. Wow! I eagerly await each episode. But Sign Of Four E10 is on another level. Well done. Well, well done.
  • Slenderfish1
    Excellent Portrayal
I’ve listened to every single one of these and just finished episode 10 of sign of four. Kudos for the emotional darkness you ventured into especially in the holidays. All I can say is well done. I’ve also read all of the original Sherlock Holmes mysteries and I believe this show treats the characters with respect while still making their own path.

    Phenomenal voice acting
The concept is great, it’s well written, it’s really entertaining and the voice acting is so good. I’ve tried a couple of other audio dramas and the exposition or the acting tend to take me out of it but this is leagues above. In the emotional scenes especially, it feels so real.

    Absolutely fabulous!
What an amazing find! I love the way the characters are updated. They way they interact with each other makes me love them even more than I do as a die hard Sherlock fan. I find myself laughing out loud every episode. Just an absolute gem of a show! Binge it now!
  • redport.
    Very good
    Nice little twist on Sherlock.
  • VibeTimeBabey
    YES.
I have been absolutely binging the show for the past weeks and I love it to death. I especially love the trios relationship. All too often it feels like the Watson and Sherlock characters literally aren’t friends with each other? it’s just a crew following Sherlock around and getting talked down to, but this one is so adorable and refreshing and all the characters are so likable and human!! also the audio environments are absolutely gorgeous and crafted with so much care, it really pulls you in! I absolutely adore what they did with the “miss Hudson” character. Mariana is such a genius and amazing addition to the usual all boys club, shes so funny. And having a canonical autistic Sherlock I feel so very seen!! Just stating point blank he’s neurodivergent and not just making him “coded” is SO refreshing and i think it’s done so well! i’ve been recommending this show to anyone and everyone that will listen. keep up the amazing work all, this podcast is such a treat!!
  • LeslyClanHansen

Sherlock Holmes has been one of my hyper fixations for so long, and podcasts are something I can listen to while working without getting distracted, so this is like the perfect thing. Plus I love everything about it.

    All time fave podcast
I could never tire of this show. Love love love everything about it. What a clever way to bring Sherlock into modern times! I was super skeptical about the show until I tried it. Since then, I’ve tried to talk everyone I know into listening to it.

I have absolutely fallen in love with the podcast!
I started listening recently and I fell in love so fast, especially with the genuinely great representation we have for autism, as an autistic person myself hearing Sherlock talk about his sensory sensitives, his self regulation techniques and his stimming made me really happy please continue to show the amazing rep!

    A must listen!
I have devoured every episode in this series twice now. Each time has been fantastic!! Can’t recommend this series enough. This is a must listen!!
  • Reallynametakers?
    This is so much fun
Ok look I’m biased. I will devour anything Sherlock. Some are always better than others. Some are bitterly disappointing but I will still devour it. But this is such a FUN take. It does an excellent job of poking fun at podcasts while being a podcast. Calling Mariana Mrs Hudson is such a fun joke. The voice acting is top notch. These actors are very much their own versions of these characters which is hard to do. Excellent modern day adaptions to the original stories. Big fan 10/10 no notes.

    The Best Immersive Podcast Anywhere
Brilliantly written. Wonderfully executed. There’s never been a better adaptation of these two. Moreover, I’ve never heard a better audio production, and I listen to podcasts, audiobooks, and audio dramas essentially all day, every day.

    The Game’s Afoot!
The portrayal of our boys is everything BBC Sherlock fans wish that show had been and more. So much fun and so sweet.

    Getting worse
This podcast was great, but now it is stretching 1 episode of material into 3. I hope that makes you many pounds. But I don’t have the patience.
  • Double L Lloyd
    Great show
    Very entertaining and well done.
  • croakust
    This is so cool!
My family and I were obsessed with the show, so when I found this is I was definitely intrigued. It’s so cool how its recorded like a podcast, and all of the cases are very clever and realistic. (Also, my grandmother is Colombian so I grew up speaking Colombian Spanish, and it’s crazy to listen to Mariana speaking actual Spanish Spanish and seeing all the differences and sounds!)
  • Fitziane
    So good!
Just starting to listen. This is super fun. Laughed out loud when Sherlock calls Mariana from the Hudsons rental company, Mrs. Hudson.
