I have tried other podcasts but they don’t sink in the way Joel’s does. He seems to understand that for something to be learned it must be repeated (and at different speeds). I have struggled with retention with other pods, but not his. Thank you Joel!

I vowed that I would finally put more effort into learning Spanish after 3 semesters in college and multiple Memrise attempts. I currently have a lot of things going on in life and an hour commute, I was just expecting to find a podcast to repeat vocabulary to me during the long drive. Then I found Joel’s podcast. Combining simple grammar lessons with practice and a conversational approach is really helping me pick up some of what college Spanish never made stick. On top of that, Joel has multiple speakers come into the show speaking at different speeds and with different native accents. I feel like I expected listening to this show to help with pronunciation, and not much else(I’m more of a visual learner). Instead it quickly became my greatest resource. I say 10/10 make this show your priority and check out the accompanying learning materials on Joel’s website.

I love all of Joel’s podcasts. I began listening to them a couple of years ago and I keep coming back to them because they are heads and away better than any of the others I have tried. Update: I love these beginner podcasts which are a bit elementary for me, but they are really helping me to stop translating in my head which I struggle with.

It is very helpful to have this podcast and instruction as a complement to other instruction. Very clear. The language is broken down and explained. Big help with hearing and or practicing the language.

I’ve tried so many courses and podcasts that claim to be for beginners but they don’t start at the beginning. This one does and I love the pace and repetition. It’s what I need. Gracias Joel

I’ve been running circles on Babbel for months. Giving up trying to start again not being able to catch on. Episode one has my attention, and already cleared up more questions than Babble did weeks of learning.

The format of this podcast is excellent. It incorporates four modules within each episode with each module providing progressively more challenging content. Perfect for beginners, but the format is equally applicable to any level of fluency. Good work,Joel.😊

I really enjoyed this podcast and have learned a lot within the last two weeks since starting it. I took Spanish classes more than 10+ years ago and was only familiar with un poco de español. But this podcast and Joel’s website helped me ease back into learning Spanish and taking it seriously. I really like how Joel provides a unit schedule on his website with the vocabulary of each unit along with a podcast on how to pronounce the vocab. Joel has a great voice and personality for teaching. Thank you ! Would love to continue the latest unit !

I have been struggling to find online Spanish lessons that really work well for me. This system is exactly what I have been looking for. The accompanying show notes for each podcast is exceptionally valuable as well and I cannot stress how nice it is to have all of the audio transcribed for each lesson as I feel it helps greatly in my comprehension in regards to the different pronunciation of letters when compared to my native language of English. I will be dedicating time out of each day to study language using these lessons! Please continue with new episodes!

This podcast helps to fill in the missing piece of learning Spanish for me, having conversations. I listen at 3/4 speed (many times over)and when the host asks questions I pause the podcast to “answer” then play to check my answers. Very valuable. Thank you so much for making this podcast!
