Parenting #191

Very good is a moving target, but we think you can be a very good (enough) parent if you love your kids and try hard. Join mother of three Jess Hover and preschool teacher Layne Deyling Cherland as we tackle how to understand toddler behavior from THEIR perspective, how to build a non-judgmental community of moms, how to repair our mistakes and have healthy relationships with our partners/kids/selves, plus so much more of what we call "people stuff". We take care of the people who take care of children - moms, dads and everyone else! From Very Good Mothers ClubTheme by Conner Cherland

This pod is my happy place
I can’t quite describe the calm feeling that comes over me as I listen to each episode. Jess and Layne have the most soothing voices and casual, honest, funny way to describe the chaos that is parenting. I tear up every episode just feeling like, okay… I’m not crazy. And I’m not alone. This is hard but I can do it and it’s so worth it. Love you ladies and appreciate the content you create and put out for us. ❤️

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Incredibly relevant content for anyone who interacts with young children. Layne and Jess are life-giving with their passion and humor, and it keeps me coming back for more. I can’t stop recommending this pod to every mother that I know. It feels like a warm and cozy parenting lifeboat.

    Listen to on repeat!
These two ladies are super approachable and easy to listen to. Layne has so many important nuggets of information that I use daily with my 1.5 year old and Jess provides so many relatable stories and has such a great introspective on the human soul. This show validates my feelings and helps me process my own insecurities to becoming a better parent and human being.

Layne and Jess come from such a good hearted place. Not shamey or overly advicey, yet still very knowledgable. Listening to this podcast makes me feel sane and much of th parenting side of the internet does the opposite 🫶🏼

    Favorite Parenting Podcast
Jess & Layne’s genuine and insightful discussions bring me so much hope, encouragement, and peace. Instead of making me feel like I’m doing something wrong in parenting, they make me feel empowered and capable of living up to this challenge. Jess somehow always asks the exact questions I have in my head while listening, and Layne gives such real and full answers. They are also both just lovely and sweet and I love their friendship. This feels like having a chat with 2 of your good friends.

    Best Encouragement for moms
Loving this podcast so far! Very encouraging and relatable to the point of tearing up multiple times, but also with moments of lighthearted fun and practical help. I definitely plan to be a long time listener. *Edit* 5 seasons later, this podcast helps me to LOVE being a mom. That’s the feeling every time I listen to an episode. I feel so empowered to connect with my 2.5 year old and help him in really practical ways. I recommend this to everyone I know!

    Love!
Jess and Lane’s conversations somehow always meet me where I’m at in parenting my one year old and four year old. I love the mix of child brain science and real life experiences and kindness and permission and putting words to stuff I think all moms (and caregivers) feel.

I Love This Podcast So Much and My Kids are Old
I have 4 precious kids who I wanted with all my heart and soul and thought I would be the best mom ever (because my mom was, for real) and it was such a gut punch for me when motherhood was not the magical wonderland I had envisioned. It’s really, really hard. My kids somehow survived and are amazing humans that function well in the world but I think much of their success is despite my mothering not because of it. Oh, and a ton of prayer, that was essential. When I was up to my armpits in diapers and whining I would have treasured this kind of real talk and support. I’m not sure if I’m the only grandma that listens regularly but I hope not. I always recommend this podcast to any young mom/wife I run across knowing it will make a difference. Keep doing what you’re doing Jess and Layne, you are helping so many. ❤️

    A must-listen for parents
I listen to this podcast with my husband and it honestly is always a relief to hear them talk about topics that are affecting us as parents. So natural and real. I love Jess, have been following her for years, and Layne is awesome. The two have a natural way of really bouncing great ideas off of each other.

    Love these two
I’ve followed Jess for a while on YouTube and am now totally in love with her new friend Layne. Jess is the most humble, encouraging, and relatable person. Layne has eye opening perspectives on toddlers and young kids and how to relate and connect with them. Her advice is aligned with Big Little Feelings, but somehow more compelling.

    So funny and realistic advice
These ladies are so fun to listen to. I’m a first time mom to a <1 year old and have been following Jess for months now. I adore her honesty and vulnerability and humor. Layne is so wise and her tips as a teacher to littles are so, so good. And the stories they share are hilarious and are so full of love, humor, and reflection. I like the shorter length of the show and just how real/ freestyle they are.

    Love this podcast!
I’m a (relatively) new mom and my son is currently in the toddler stage. He loves testing my patience, so I’m very grateful I found this podcast! It’s helped me learn how to better connect with him and “ride through the turbulence” of motherhood and toddlerhood. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a caretaker or works with young children!

    Relatable & comforting
Love all the stories from Jess. Especially the messy, not together, super super relatable ones. The balance with advice and support from Layne makes this such a good mother / parent / caregiver podcast. Especially on those hard days when you are feeling defeated.

    So real and fun!
Love these girls and the content the cover. It definitely makes me feel like a real human as a mom and that I’m not alone in the things I feel or go through inside motherhood. I love their raw unfiltered honesty, even when it’s hard, but I’m always left laughing and encouraged after I listen to Jess and Layne.

    Funny & Relatable
I’ve been watching Jess Hover on YouTube for years now and I love her bubbly and fun personality and she definitely brings that to the podcast. She’s a genuine gal wanting to encourage moms all around. She doesn’t have it all together and she shares her struggles with the world which is what compelled me to watch her videos. I’ve struggled so much as a mom and it’s nice to know that im not alone.
