Hosted by Susan Simpson of the Undisclosed Podcast and Jacinda Davis of TV’s Evil Lives Here, Proof unravels the tangled and competing demands of the legal system, police practices, truth, guilt and innocence.Season 2: The second season of Proof: Murder at the Warehouse takes Susan Simpson and Jacinda Davis to Manteca, CA where they reinvestigate the murder of 18-year-old Renee Ramos. On June 5, 2000, Ramos’ body was found buried under a pile of debris inside the shell of a new Home Depot building. Despite tips hinting at alternate suspects - tips that were ignored until now - Renee’s boyfriend, 18-year-old skateboarder Jake Silva, and Ty Lopes, the 33-year-old uncle of one of Jake's close friends were arrested for her murder. The questionable testimony of a 14-year-old boy was the key evidence used to convict them both to life in prison.Twenty-three years after Renee Ramos was murdered, Jake Silva remains in prison and maintains he is innocent. In season two of Proof: MURDER AT THE WAREHOUSE, Susan and Jacinda travel the streets of Manteca, reinvestigating the case against Jake and Ty – and in the process uncover long-overlooked evidence about what really happened to ReneeSeason 1: In season one of Proof: RUSSIAN ROULETTE Susan Simpson and Jacinda Davis reinvestigate the murder of Brian Bowling. On an October night in 1996, a gunshot rattles the walls of a double-wide trailer on the outskirts of Rome, Georgia. 15-year-old Brian Bowling is laying on the floor of his room, head bleeding from a gunshot wound. By the next morning, Brian is dead. Investigators quickly conclude that Brian’s wound was self-inflicted, the tragic result of teenage bravado. And yet within six months, two friends are arrested and accused of plotting to kill Brian. Cain Joshua Story and Darrell Lee Clark are convicted and sentenced to life in prison. An evil teenage plot? A horrible tragic accident? Or, a blatant miscarriage of justice? In this first season of PROOF, Susan and Jacinda drive the back roads of Rome, searching for the truth.Visit our website for episode transcripts, case files, behind the scene photos and more. Follow us on social media. The GOAT of True Crime Podcasts
I was just thinking about how much I miss new Proof episodes and how excited I get when a new update or season is released, so I thought I would write my first podcast review. Susan & Jacinda are as good at storytelling as anyone including Serial - and way better investigators. If I could clone 3 people, Susan Simpson would be one of them. Her talent and dedication to justice has made a real & positive impact on our world.

God Bless the individuals on your team who are knowledgeable, skilled , and do a fantastic job investigating these cases unbiased and professionally. What a horror to be charged with a crime you didn’t commit and spend decades in prison while actual murderer runs free. Please keep working together! Can’t wait to learn more about past, current, and new cases. Thanks for investigatingTruths”. You are these people’s angels who desperately need freed and helped back on their feet.

    EASY -10/10-…And Unsurprisingly Surprised
1st off, I’m by far not nearly as qualified as a lot…but I’ve been apart of investigative projects and listened to many many investigative podcasts and books, eventually whittling down to the niche content of "true crime" that we all love….as I’ve said, I have listened/read many many many (50 or more) and PROOF is in the top 3! Lastly, I’d like to stress that I am in no way shape or form trying to disparage or offend anyone, particularly not the victims family. However, it’s hard to keep quiet in the situation…not ever in my entire life, and all of the experiences that come with that, have I ever seen a more ignorant community carry out such a miscarriage of justice... and I don’t use the word community lightly. Because it is quite obvious that the community seems to have ignorantly convicted these guys based on pure emotion and bias…and I don’t just listen to a series, I don’t do that. I listen I read I search I look up and read more…and unfortunately obsessively proactive in the research and I’ve done that with PROOFS case as well. These Gals & Guys are so good at what they do🤙🏾 And yes, I am well aware likely two people will read this, and one of them probably won’t even finish ha. ****************************** Ive been an AUDIBLE member for about 7-8 Yrs…I believe this is my 2nd review I’ve made ********************************

Interesting Deep Dive into a Questionable Conviction
My algorithm prompted me to listen to this podcast beginning with Season 2. I am almost done with S2 and have not listened to S1 yet. I definitely enjoy this format of true crime podcast where the hosts do a deep dive into the case and interview all the witnesses. I have found this case intriguing enough that I have recommended this podcast to others. It is definitely better than the typical true crime podcast. My criticism of the show is that the hosts are highly obnoxious. They make some truly inane remarks that leave me astounded that they are successful at uncovering as much as they do. Additionally, they often make statements that falsely denote certain assumptions as fact. They have approached this project as an effort to prove Jake’s innocence rather than to conduct an unbiased examination. I do believe Jake may very well be innocent but the hosts’ assertion of “facts” about other potential perpetrators really detracts from the overall credibility of the “investigation.” Moreover, it is really irritating when they attempt to draw any parallels to the Adnan Syed case. There are not any. And the hosts are a far cry from Sarah Koenig.

    Great Podcast!
This podcast serves an invaluable purpose: to bring justice to a world where justice is a game. The beauty of it is that these women podcasters (and they mostly seem to be women who do this sort of tireless work) take the time and effort to do a real investigation and get to the truth. Whereas the under-qualified detectives cobble together whatever story they can make stick. And the DA just wants another point in the win column. After listening to this podcast, I immediately donated to the Innocence Project.

    Great Podcast!
I really enjoyed this production. I started with season 2. Now I have to go back and listen to season 1! I feel like podcasts that are made like this - more of conversation and dialogue with presenters that sound like real people telling a story. I don’t like podcasts that sound too scripted and too overdramatized music. Just tell the story!

    Simply the best
The most incredible investigative podcast. Season 1 was unbelievable. I am truly impressed and moved by the dedication of Susan, Jacinda, Kevin, Dan and many others who refused to give up on justice! For anyone out there reading this, please never forget, no matter what legal situation you or a loved one are pulled into, ALWAYS get an attorney first before speaking to detectives. By talking to a detective without an attorney present, you are helping the detectives do their job and close a case and anything you say CAN and WILL be used against you.

Vocal fry & sloppy enunciation :-(
Ugh. I’m fascinated by the story, but the rampant vocal fry and infuriatingly sloppy enunciation are killing my will to keep listening. So bummed that these things aren’t tightened up for this caliber of a show.

    Wow!!!
What an incredible story!!! Nice work and congratulations to this talented and hard working crew!! And good luck to these “kids”…. I wish them nothing but the best!! Amazing how they stayed so sweet and strong!

Started this yesterday and have been on a binge since!
One of my fave podcasts now. Very thorough and thoughtful. I can’t believe the outright negligence of these detectives,!

    Review
This is by far the best true crime series that I’ve ever heard or seen. The attorneys go into great detail of how EXACTLY the court system works! Talking about the motions, the DA, the judges, the witnesses, and the defendants. It shows how the prosecutors don’t really care if you’re innocent or not , only if they think they can get a guilty verdict. Prosecutors needs to be held accountable when they do things like this but they’re not. On a different note, I’ve seen some reviews saying these episodes and seasons are too long…… they are not. That’s why this is a podcast and not a movie; podcast are supposed to be long and ongoing, that’s why it’s a podcast people. It goes in great detail to give the average person a clear look into the mostly corrupted justice system.
  • CindyLouWho0
Terrifying how easily someone could get wrongfully convicted!
It just blows my mind, how this could happen. Shame on those cops!

    Amazing investigation
This is one of my very favorite Podcasts! The amount of true investigation these ladies (and Kevin😁) do is incredible. You can feel their emotions grow through out the podcast as they search to find the truth. I can’t wait to see how this all play's out. This podcast is definitely binge worthy.

    Attention to detail!
Very thorough investigating. They get straight to the story without a lot of pre-storyline chit chat.

Fascinating and Worth Your Time - EVERY Episode
We rate this as one of our absolute favorite investigative journalism podcasts. Amazing to see how every detail is sifted and looked at anew. The chemistry between Jacinda & Susan is quietly hilarious (except it might be tough on a stakeout with the pair and nothing to eat but a Slim Jim). We love it even more when Kevin weighs in with his curmudgeonly big brother concern! Priceless.

    Vocal fry
Such great content and a podcast. Unfortunately 5 episodes in and I have to stop. The vocal fry is so distracting. I realize that’s my issue.

    Amazing investigative work
Kudos to Susan and Jacinda for another compelling season. I’m in awe of the great work you do.

    Vocal fry
Great show, but listening to Jacinda’s vocal fry might be enough to make me stop listening! Is she still in bed? Not at all attractive Please speak with a clear voice!

fodder chat and Lots of Ads
There’s a point in Ep 3 that the two hosts sound like they’ve immersed themselves in valley-speak blah blah blah whiny blah 3-4Ads to start 2-3 Ads at 2 breaks within the episode Close with 3 more Ads Maybe off a paid sub instead? Ugh
  • jmpk*
    Overall good!
They are doing great work!! I wish Susan would slow down and articulate her words more clearly. And the ads are so repetitive but I guess those are just the sponsors they have. Keep up the good work to give a voice to victims of our justice system.

    I love this show
Great job with all the investigations, have loved Susan since the Undisclosed days. Love this show.

    A joke
This police force is nothing more than a disgusting excuse for human beings, police officers and the justice system in a hole. The whole entire Police Department needs to be disassembled and then higher people that actually have a clue I’ve never heard of a police department that is so disgustingly run.
  • BranFlake1981
    Wow.
Wow. Truly one of the best I’ve heard. The time and effort given to investigate…the way it’s narrated, the emotions you go through…I felt like I was right beside them. Beautifully done lady’s. Hope to see many more!

    I’m so mad I can’t go to bed 😝
Soooo freaking good! Thank you for all you do- I truly hope we can all make a difference by realizing what we don’t know that we needed to!

    Best cases investigated
Susan & Jacinda go so deep into all aspects of the cases they take on. The flow of their discussions & dissections of new info is perfection

    Easy to Listen To
I love Season 2 of this podcast. Both women are easy and enjoyable to listen to. And that is a tall ask for podcasts, in my opinion. I love how real they are, they speak their mind, and are super smart. Can’t wait to go listen to Season 1. Please release more soon!

    New favorite
Serial and In the Dark were the best, well-told, fact based, and most positively impactful podcasts: this is rising to the ranks. So well done. Your hard work to help people, both gone and still suffering, is incredible. And the choices and layout/format/timing of the info delivered, mixture of in-the-moment thought process mixed with the usual rhythm. Crossing my fingers for Renee, Ty’s daughters, and Jake. Great work! Thanks for making it!!!
  • Wascal11
Great podcast - one minor complaint
Throughout Season 2, they reference Detectives Souza (SP?) and Wells. Susan tends to speak quickly, and when says the names, they run together to sound like she’s saying the name of one person. I checked the transcription, and even it shows it as “Detective Susa Ann Wells” or “Detective Susan Wells.” It’s just a minor complaint in an otherwise great podcast, but I had to point it out because the names are said together like that so frequently throughout the entire season that I thought others might have the same issue, wondering if she’s saying the name of one person or two.

    S1 hits close to home
Wow just finished S1 about the wrongful convictions of the boys from Floyd County GA. I live just down the road and this terrifies me. I personally have had no problems with local laws or police, but it’s always in the back of my mind. Many many thanks. Now I gotta get a box of tissues😭😭

    Overwhelming Ads
In the first 10 minutes I heard 6 ads, immediately turned off the podcast. Ridiculous
  • Didthisalready
About as good as it gets
As a listener, the two seasons have been everything anyone can ask for. 100% full investment by the crew, no stone left unturned, well presented cases and results. As someone who understands the work involved to make something like this, it’s even more amazing. An artist, author or chef picks their ingredients, colors, mediums, etc and builds from the bottom up. Investigative true crime is like sculpting in soft stone. They chisel away, not really knowing what’s underneath, hoping to find the truth within, but without any guarantee…one wrong move could ruin the piece. The level of relationship, product and legal management/maneuvering that a story like this takes to do well is astounding. Well done.

Season 1 Was WAY Too Long
Okay, I just finished listening to season 1 this morning while getting ready for work &, whew, it was WAY too long!! It took me FOREVER to get through it!! It didn’t need to be THAT long; it was a total of 34 (yes, 34!) episodes long!! Even normal TV show seasons (before COVID 😒) weren’t THAT long!! WAY too many “Bonus” episodes were added that could have just been part of the main episodes, honestly! And all the ads only made them seem even longer (thankfully, I could skip through them otherwise I’d have given up on this series a LONG time ago)!! I’m not kidding some of the ad breaks were like 2 minutes long & there was MORE than one break, including in the “Bonus/Sidebar” episodes! It’s like why pay a subscription for the bonus content if they are just include ads EVEN in the bonus content, too … !! 😒 Now, normally, I don’t mind Bonus Episodes; in fact, I usually love more content from podcasts I like, but this was just too many & didn’t offer too much more to the main story. Also, at one point, in the bonus content the podcasters just went off on a useless tangent that had NOTHING to do with the main story & in another bonus episode, they just started talking about a totally different “crime update” that had NOTHING to do with the crime that the story IS really about!! Like what?! Why are you c confusing me by talking about ANOTHER crime that has LITERALLY nothing to do with this one?!?! 😒 Also, almost all the interviews/court proceedings had really bad audio & was really hard to understand what anyone was saying; I had turned the volume up on most of the interviews just to try to understand what they were saying … And then, all the ads were also REALLY loud, too … 😒 Anyway, I ended up giving the show 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ because, in the end, I liked it! It had a happy ending! 😀 But it was just too long, still … Also, I’m left wondering if anyone offered the deaf man (I’m sorry, I forgot his name) proper adult ASL (American sign language) classes; I know that in some places there’re offered for free (if not online) & it just broke my heart that he was never taught proper ASL so he could communicate with the deaf community now that he’s an adult. He has the right to refuse it of course, but I’m wondering if it was ever offer to him in the first place; it was never addressed in the podcast … 🥺 Don’t know if I’ll listen to Season 2 or not, especially if it’s gonna be as drawn out as Season 1 … Maybe I’ll take a little break until I start on S2! 😅

Proof that hard work pays off!
Anyone who grew up in a small town can understand how cases like these can hit close to home! It could have been anyone who had been locked up in a case like this! Proof, all of you involved are angels that these kids, now men, were blessed to have take on there cases! Excellent podcast!

    Unexpectedly addicting
I stumbled across this podcast and instantly became invested during season two. Susan and Jacinda do a wonderful job picking apart this case. I’m somewhat disappointed that they were unable to find an attorney to represent Jake pro bono from all the evidence they have uncovered, and the witness statements. Jake deserves a retrial of not full exoneration. What happened to Ty after being wrongfully convicted is terrible and his daughter has to live with the consequences. I’m looking forward to future updates. I hope the San Joaquin district attorney has enough balls to make this right.

    Great show, but be prepared
I’ve heard other podcasts with Susan Simpson, but this season with the sidebars really shows you how smug and snobby she is. It’s hard for me to hear her beliefs and assumptions when I don’t agree with most of them. Other than that, If you can stand being talked down to, the story is great and the people in this story are fascinating. Most of all though,my heart goes out to Jake Silva, Ty Lobes’ family, and Rene’s friends and family. Such a sad thing to happen to a these young people.
  • JENNYBAPA
    Stunning!
Wrongful conviction work is always so inspiring to me, even when there is a long, arduous road of disappointments and further injustices. Thank you both, Susan and Jacinda, for making me cry like a 2 year old as this case concluded. I’ve been with you since the early days of Undisclosed, and I’m forever grateful for human beings like you out there working tirelessly to right the wrongs done to innocent people. Thank you doesn’t really cover it, and I love this podcast. Keep up the incredible work.

    Season two was Excellent!
Great work Susan and Jacinda, (Kevin too)😃 the last episode left me hopeful that a resolution will be coming soon.

    Season 2 was riveting
Susan Simpson does such incredible work. She and Jacinda have great chemistry working together. This season was so good, I binged it in 3 days and while there is still more work to do, it ends in a hopeful and satisfying way where they make some major headway (I GASPED at the discovery at the end), and they really did a great investigation into additional suspects. I cried so many times while listening and my heart goes out to Ty’s daughter more than anything. So many victims in this case. Great work Susan and Jacinda! Can’t wait for more updates.
  • Becky3348
    Needs editing
This podcast was sooooo long and there was so much repetitive/unnecessary info. I hung in til the end because I know Susan usually finds something but it was just too long and I will not be listening to another season.
  • Pink Cashmere52
Susan, and Jacinda set the bar for all others
Susan, and Jacinda do such thorough investigations that they set the bar for all other podcasts. Season 2 grabs you from the start, and doesn’t let go until the end. You’ll find yourself with your mouth agape at the information they are able to get from people. They prove the police fixate on a person, and do everything in their power to make the person fit the evidence. Susan, and Jacinda do the police investigation for them, and come up with the evidence that proves the convicted aren’t guilty. It’s a shame that police and prosecutors aren’t held accountable for their crimes. Thankfully, people like Susan, and Jacinda are here, doing the work.

I love love loved Season 2. Susan and Jacinda are intelligent, thoughtful, respectful professionals who poured their souls into this season. It’s a must-listen.

    California
The one thing you need to know about California is they love criminals and they will do nothing to help you catch a criminal because criminals keep them in power. Thanks for all your hard work and after episode 17 Tim sure does sound really shady. Even more shady than he sounded all season.

    Amazing
Hopefully they can get an innocent man out of prison! After listening to the last episode, why can’t they submit the DNA into voices of justice? They might be able to help with the testing.
  • Stephanie#1210
    Come on guys really?
So this guy just continues to Rot In prison! Why weren’t you guys fund raising for an attorney? Seriously do better with your platform! You get paid through sponsors? Use some of that money to more than just exploit prisoners.. No longer a fan.. This was completely pointless

    Love this podcast
I did not expect to get sucked into this podcast the way I did. Looking forward to updates on Jake’s case!
