Too Much Effing Perspective

Every performer who's ever been on the road has at least one bizarro story that could have been pulled straight from the iconic music mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap. Co-hosts Allen Keller and Alex Hofmann delve deep into their guests’ harrowing, humbling, and hilarious Spinal Tap Moments uncovering universal truths along the way. Relatable!
I knew I would love hearing all the crazy behind the scenes stories from my favorite bands. What I didn’t know was that the stories would also entail such thoughtfulness about how perseverance, drive, happenstance and creativity helped them get from one place to the next. I love hanging out with all of them! Listen to one episode and you’ll be hooked, and even if you’re not familiar with the guests I guarantee you will be soon.

Exclusive insight and loads of fun!!!!! I ♥️ TMEP
“We were being original when that wasn’t a sin” Keller and Hoffman’s podcast is a space for geeks to geek, and truths to truth. With DEVO’s very own Jerry Casale, they discuss the paradigm shift from substance to style in the 1980s music world, the value of collaboration, and commercialization in art. Getting these sentimental and hilarious spinal tap stories & musings from the horse’s mouth is so special, and so worth the listen.

    Loving this.
So… I’ve been a professional musician for 30 years. About the only thing I’ve learned, is that regardless of your level of fame, we all have the same great stories. I’m loving the smart, honest, witty tack these two are taking. The musician’s life is certainly not for the faint of heart, but you’ll find a lot of heart in this series!

So happy to find this podcast
I’ve loved the Falling Wallendas, Allen’s old band, since a rave review in Stereo Review magazine prompted me to buy their self-titled CD almost 30 years ago. I own all three FW CDs as well as Allen’s amazing solo record, Wuthering Depths (apparently, I’m one of the few, but it’s awesome if you can find it). And of course I can find an (in)appropriate Spinal Tap quote for any occasion. So this podcast is right in my wheelhouse. Great guests, awesome stories and a fascinating look at the soft white underbelly of the rock n roll lifestyle.

    Love it!
Remember when Rolling Stone Magazine was big and good and you’d anticipate each issue arriving to your mailbox or going on display at your local newsstand? And once you had it you’d find a nook, a street corner or a coffee table and read the whole mag cover to cover in one sitting? Listening to this podcast takes me a long back way towards that feeling. It’s also hilarious!

    Laugh out loud funny
This is one of those podcasts you might want to listen to in private because you are sure to get some annoyed looks when you burst out laughing every few minutes. Such fun and funny insights into the lives of “rock stars” and the hosts are able to call on their own experiences in the music business to bring out the most hilarious moments of their guests.
