    Victim sensitive
Thank you so much for your care and sensitivity of the victims of coercive control! Advocating for them, not glorifying. The perpetrator, is so refreshing! Laura’s sensitivity and care is so greatly appreciated by so many of us who have experienced coercive control. Even if it was on a much lower level than many of the crimes that you highlight. We all need to stop turning a blind eye,m and making excuses for these perpetrators by requiring the laws to be changed, so that perpetrators are stopped early in the process…BEFORE someone loses their life. When someone is being coercively controlled, and the police say, “there’s no crime” that simply must change! This podcast is a huge step in the right direction to bring awareness to this problem…and how we as a society can start identifying this bad behavior at its earliest stages and stopping it in its tracks!

Thank you for shining a spotlight on coercive control
Have been listening to the episodes re: Gabby Petito. Laura, your analysis of coercive control, how the officers missed it, and your research on this issue is invaluable. Like too many other women, I could’ve met the same fate as Gabby Petito. I’m so thankful for the work that you’re doing to spread awareness of this issue, especially among law-enforcement, and there has been times where I have broken down in tears listening to these episodes knowing you see us and are working tirelessly to help us be heard.

The world needs more people like Laura Richards.
Such an excellent show with victim focused, knowledgeable, compassionate and reliable content. Have loved her work on Real Crime Profile. Great to have another show to follow.

    Expert, accomplished, masterful
Laura Richards makes the world a safer place for women and girls! She explains coercive control and ‘murder in slow motion.’ Her decades of experience & training in crime analysis and prevention come through in every episode. Her 20+ episode series on Gabby Petito is a great place to start. “Stay curious and listen to your gut”

    W O W so disappointed
I’ve followed Laura Richard since the first episode of Real Crime Profiles. I’ve learned so much from Laura. But I have to say that I 100% believed Blake Lively but minds can be changed. Laura’s bias now I see she’ll never give any benefit to men. I didn’t really either to be fair but I will not jump to conclusions either. I just can’t trust Laura anymore. She says trust your gut, be curious asks questions, and always trust your instincts. I’m trusting mine and you have zero room for men. You say look at power dynamics and profile. Laura what happened to you? No woman can lie? Look at history build a profile you say but not in this case. Nope! Thank you for all you’ve done but a man’s entire career and you’re already so biased. Unfollow here, unfollow Instagram. Definitely no vote for top Podcast.

    Legit
This podcast is excellent! Laura’s thoughtful and thorough analysis of these cases is absolutely fascinating and educational. We all need to better understand and beware of how insidious controlling behavior is. Honestly, I’m obsessed. Thank you Laura 🙏

Decent but less about actual crime psychology
It's a decent show, nicely compassionate towards victims, but more time is spent fussing about men in general than actually analyzing the crimes psychologically. Better shows out there if you're interested in actually learning the criminal mind

    Excellent
I have been a fan for a long time but Laura’s episode with Sara Edmundson today was so good! I appreciated that Laura had taken the time to read her book and was well informed which made for a great interview.

Good crime work, analysis; BUT political rants!
Really enjoy the crime work. Shocking & mind-expanding. BUT I’m not interested in your political rants & preaching! Soap-boxing over a criminal’s POV is ridiculous. If you spent time analyzing the POV, you might learn about the criminal. That’s the point after all…study them, find them, & prosecuting them. It’s a bonus if the learning is able to prevent criminal activity. Your ranting on misogyny does NOT help. Your feminine radicalism is tiring & boring; it does NOT help. Your man-hatred is disgusting. High risk behavior is called high risk for a reason. It’s NOT sex/gender based. Accept responsibility for personal choices. Men & women engage in low risk & high risk behavior. Do crime analysis or do politics. CHOOSE!!!

    She opens my eyes
Laura Richard’s is able to detect and explain in a clear and easy to understand way how corruption and the desire to maintain control and power can taint not only individual relationships but our society and the legal system. This podcast is a must listen.

    Expert Women’s Advocate
Laura - this is an amazing podcast hosted by an incredible expert in crime analysis. Thank you for breaking down crimes against women to expose opportunities to prevent violence against women and the sexist attitudes that have enabled the devastation of women’s and children’s lives! Even more so- thank you so much for taking a strong stance on violence against women, for standing up against the misogyny in our institutions and for putting measures in place to protect women from unnecessary suffering and injustice! The battle for our safety and recognition as equal human beings is not yet over- thank you for encouraging us to remain engaged in creating justice for women.

    More than just voyeurism
I’m guilty of listening to or watching a lot of true crime but I’m always left with questions about how these things happen and what we could’ve done to perhaps prevent these incidents or at least stop them from happening again. This is the first podcast I’ve found that tries to help us understand some of what was going on in these situations. Laura is so knowledgeable and professional that I no longer feel like I’m just wasting my time listening to sad stories that have no point. This show is actually educational and useful! Thanks for shining a light into some of the dark corners of the human experience!

By far one of the best crime podcasts out there. Laura Richards’ extensive training and experience is absolutely invaluable to not only women but for crime prevention as a whole. She is an incredible force for education and change. Laura is clearly highly intelligent and well spoken. Thank you so much for all the work you have done and continue to do.

    Laura
One of my favorite podcasts. Having been in bad situations I appreciate Laura’s work. It amazes me how many times men who have authority dismiss the awful things men do to women.

    Informative and Empowering
I have been listening to Crime Analyst for the past 4 years and I value how it’s victim centered and how Laura uses her platform to educate people and not focus on the gory details like a lot of crime shows. As a LCSW, I find her work more informative than any of the other trainings I’ve taken regarding domestic violence. Thank you Laura for your hard work and dedication to the victims and educating women and men!!

    Episode 215 part 2
Was very hard to follow the very long droning monologue by the guest. More dialogue is needed.

    Learn something every time
I started doing domestic violence works more than 25 years ago. I changed my career focus over the years because the systems were so broken and frankly abusive to the helpers. I have never given up my passion that homes should be the safest not the deadliest, or most hurtful, places. I admire all the hard work Laura has done over the years and the changes she has made. I learn something new everyone I listen and bring it into the work I am currently doing. Thank you Laura for raising awareness by being out there and making your podcast accessible to listeners of all levels of knowledge.

The make sense podcast of the milenium
This podcast is one of a kind. It provides the perspective of a true expert for the sake of finding real solutions and gives hope to victims that justice is still alive. I love her deconstruction and research, as well as her ability to say it like it is. It offers valuable insights and makes you want to fight for victims and even choose this as a career.

    Real life help
I’ve been listening to Crime Analyst since Laura launched it and have learned so much about crime deconstruction, coercive control, and stalking. Her work is accessible to everyday citizens, focuses on the victim, and provides life saving information. Highly recommend!
  • jvarguello
    Good, informative, can get repetitive.
With respect, if you state that you are going to share your profile of the perpetrator, you should not start at 27:10, a bit over half the episode. The first part is spent making points that are well taken, and have been made before. Precisely because the treatment of women victims leaves much to be desired, you cannot even appear to be treating it as filler.

She’s educating us about coercive control
I’d never hear the term coercive control until finding Laura. Her passion on educating the public & teaching best practices for those that are in law enforcement will hopefully change laws. Her deep dives into cases is unmatched. Thank you Laura for continuing to beat the drum.

    Not an ordinary crime show
Laura Richards takes us through the meticulous workings of her brilliant brain. She encourages us to drop bias and prejudice and really look at people.. the victims, the criminals, and ourselves. She is a no nonsense, critical thinker… and she doesn’t approve of sloppy police work. Laura is not afraid to challenge victim blaming and unequivocal representation and leadership. She is a champion for justice.

    Must listen
Laura Richard’s is the perfect balance of an analytical and compassionate approach to podcasting. Her research and advocacy have resulted in monumental changes to how victims are spoken about and rightfully return focus on the perpetrators. Laura’s professional teaching should be mandatory across all law enforcement and more importantly law makers. Thank you Ms. Richard’s for inspiring women globally to trust our instincts, be curious, and stand up to violence. You truly are a generational change maker and mentor.

Articulate Informed Intelligent and Passionate Crime and Victim Analysis
I followed Laura Richards over from Real Crime Profile podcast to Crime Analyst … Laura has an incise intelligence, based on knowledge, experience and her own passion to represent victims (often times women but not exclusively by any means) … There is no salaciousness just intelligent commentary which helps build an understanding of ‘types’, profiling, and risk … Laura reduces naivety with facts. As an ex tv producer and host, originally from London - I am hooked!

Work of a Professional, Made for All
This is absolutely the kind of work that crime-related media should learn from: retelling of stories centered around the victims, survivors, the impact of crime and when the justice system/law enforcement fail to do their job, analyses of events that are detailed, surgical, informative as well as educational. It is a much-needed breath of clean air in the murky space of crime genre, setting itself apart from empathy-voided tales of over-sensationalized violence, further exploitation of victims and survivors, glorification or mystification of criminals, or the lack of reflection on the toxic cultures that have allowed them to proliferate. From the qualification of the host Laura Richards to the professional quality of the episodes, from the guests' input to the survivors' many inspirational stories, this podcast is truly remarkable throughout. The issues of violence, abuse, and other crimes perpetrated predominantly by men towards women and children, and the failure of societies to take effective actions to protect them are, sadly, still very much globally relevant in this day and age. Such matters are the core of this podcast, as Laura examines case after case through a critical lens, with no detail too small to spare. Indeed, it's all been going on for far too long. I do believe that, no matter who you are, there is something to be learned from this podcast, but perhaps even more so for the decision-makers, those in power, and men who want to make a difference. For me, it is a difficult listen, for the simple fact that the content of the cases presented can be hard to process emotionally. Though Laura always reminds us that we are lovely and her voice carries a firm, steady and reliable presence, in many episodes, it is a constant exercise to keep the overwhelming feelings of sadness, disgust and rage in check. As Laura says, it can be triggering, and do take care! (My 2 cents: When listening, keep many videos/pictures of animals being cute handy, I know they definitely help me stay calm-ish during the most stressful parts. Also take breaks as needed, remember to do breathwork, and listen to something lighter also helps!)

This is essential advocacy for all women!
Laura Richards analysis of Gabby Petito's murder, *femicide*, deserves wide recognition. Gabby's murder illustrates the dangers all women face from domestic violence. Laura's advocacy for our safety is essential--we cannot only warn of "stranger danger", we must also warn of and be able to recognize intimate partner violence and coercive control!

    Excellent
Impressive work on your Gabby Petito series, Laura! The depth of your analysis is so incredible. You allowed Gabby’s story to be heard and the subtleties understood. Thank you for the psychoeducation provided around DV and coercive control. (I work in this field myself). This is such an important conversation that we really don’t seem to be having often enough. Thank you for all you do to give victims in these situations a voice, so their stories can be heard. Love your work!

So much gained from this pod
I can’t say enough how much wonderful information I have gained listening to this show. It has helped me see things I never would have known to look out for even just a short time ago. Thank you so much Laura. Keep spreading the word!! Thank you so much.

One of the best podcasts about Crime!
Not only does Laura give us insight to what she has personally witnessed and done in her career but she also has wonderful guests come on to share their experiences with dealing with coercive control, abuse, stalking, how to profile an individual - to be on the look out! It’s so wonderful to hear from women that have actually experienced and lived through horrible circumstances and made it out! It isn’t easy talking about this kind of stuff - but every woman should know the signs and what to look for and I truly feel that Laura has helped so many of us that are curious and interested in this topic. I can’t say enough about this podcast! LISTEN FOR YOURSELF ❤️

Laura’s Analysis - Full of Insight and Compassion
I’ve been listening Laura’s podcasts Crime Analyst and Real Crime Profile since 2020, very few true crime podcasts can compare! I just finished Laura’s episode on the harrowing abuse Corey Micciolo suffered. You can hear the concern and care in her voice as she fights tears while telling his story. The knowledge she shares is invaluable and she truly puts her heart into every case she covers!

    Intelligent and fascinating, listening
Laura is an amazing teacher. I arrived here from Real Crime Profile. As a psychologist, I have learned so much from this excellent and articulate host. Such intelligent analysis and understanding is rare in a true crime podcast.

    Laura is Brilliant and Compassionate!
Came here from Real Crime Profile where I first heard Laura. The level of detail Laura gives to these cases is unmatched. I have learned so much listening to these episodes. The Gabby Petito case was so well detailed and I heard so much more about the case here than I did in the media. I listen to this podcast to learn from Laura so I can keep myself and all women in my life safe. She is truly an amazing advocate for all women. Laura- thank you for educating me while on my daily walks, long drives and while waiting in long school pick up lines. We need more women like Laura in the world!

Laura Richards - a true “SHERO”
Laura uses this phrase “Shero” a lot in regard to women she admires. Anyone who is working with women in any capacity, raising a daughter, has a women in his or her life, should be listening to this podcast. Thank you Laura for truly mastering your craft and teaching what you have learned.

    Evidence-based and compassionate
I’ve learned a lot from the Crime Analyst because of the evidence and information surrounding the victims. Idolizing or magnifying attributes about the killers is not important; however, solving the crime and remembering the victims is.
  • Dreamseeker26
    Victims
I know what your point is. Talk about the victims. Don’t mention the killers’ names. Sorry, good intentions, but those of us interested in true crime are interested in the killer, his motivations, is he a serial killer? What was his life like? Was he pretty ordinary like Bundy or pretty weird like so many others? When did he first kill? Did he want to claim his murders? We want info about the killer(s). His behavior is beyond what most of us can understand but we try to. I am interested in the psychology of the killer. The victims are of course someone’s daughter, sister, mother or wife. So is the killer. Yet he does what he does.
