    Too long too often
Why do I care about a car race that took place (if memory serves) a good two months before the woman’s disappearance? What am I doing listening to announcers of this race for minutes? I am sorry, but it feels like you fill in your podcasts with irrelevant detail and repeat information. More episodes, more ad revenue? Please, get to the point.

    Andrew Jones
It’s frustrating that the podcast producers heavily believe that Andrew Jones is not a good suspect just because Lynette couldn’t ID him in a police image line up. That doesn’t mean it wasn't him that tried to abduct her. Who knows what image she was shown. More research has to be done. He just cannot be ruled out because of this. Also, why hasn’t the DNA from Jones’ car come back yet? And why have sniffer dogs not been brought in to search the creek by the university? Those dogs can smell death many many years after the fact.

    What Really happened in Wuhan
Spreading trumpist propaganda?? I really thought this podcast was better than that.

    The police can’t be trusted
There are numerous examples of police covering up the crimes of other police. To act or talk about how that isn’t possible is either stupid or very suspect. And he was on the case

    Decent
Could have been shortened by 2-3 episodes. Good, but not as good as the Teacher’s Pet. A lot of repeat details.

    Compassionate but Disorganized
I decided to listen to this after loving The Teacher’s Pet. Unfortunately, this one was not nearly as good. The Good I listen to a lot of true crime, and Hedley is one of the most compassionate, nonjudgmental, and skilled interviewers in the genre. He respects everyone in the story, presents evidence of both guilt and innocence, and does a really great job of communicating the experience of those suffering as opposed to purely exploiting their stories. The story is compelling, and he has a wide variety of sources that he explores. The Bad The storyline was very disorganized and bloated. There was really no consistent thread throughout other than someone was missing and presumed dead, and multiple people are suspected of the murder. One of the brilliant things about The Teacher’s Pet was the nested storylines-a woman missing within the context of rampant child abuse within the context of a particular era and culture. It was complex but well-crafted. This podcast just couldn’t seem to figure out what it was. The same information was presented over and over. It easily could have cut out at least four, maybe five, episodes. Would I recommend listening to it? Yes, with the caveat that when you get the urge to fast forward, do it. You will not miss anything. I will continue to listen to Hedley’s future podcasts, because I have great respect for his work, and I suspect something behind the scenes went awry here.

Hedley Thomas is on a level all his own
Between this podcast and The Teacher’s Pet there is simply no one even close to doing what Hedley is doing in True Crime investigating/podcasting. His work is a must listen for any fan of the genre.

    bad audio
    incredibly distracting bad audio

    High School Paper
This sounds like a high school paper that strings together a bunch of quotations without actually saying anything. It seems to assume you already know the story, starting in the middle with suspects and jumping around randomly, without any overview or background whatsoever. Host is obsessed with throwing in as many random audio clips as possible. The podcast utterly fails to tell a coherent story. A huge disappointment after The Teacher’s Pet.

    So disjointed and rambling
The only thing I’m certain of in this case is that it’s their words but not their voices, and that the retired judge is Hedley’s friend

    Bad audio
I gave up after a half an hour. Too many people speaking on bad audio.

    Great podcast
This is not a easy listen. It’s a complicated case with lots of characters but if you pay attention it’s enormously rewarding. I would give it 6 stars. Wish there were more like it.

Update : can you please edit out peoples loud breathing ! This cop John omg it’s actually funny how loud he’s breathing into the mic!! Lol come on please edit its gross!! This is all over the place , he talks a lot but doesn’t really bring it all together , we hear so many interviews with so many people but he should give more info on some of them. It’s just too scattered .

    Intriguing, very well done
The Night Driver has been one of the few new podcasts I’ve really gotten into, waiting each Sunday for the episodes to drop. I really can’t wait for updates, I hope for the family’s sake that they can get some concrete answers. The latest episode had me tearing up at the end. Such a horrible and baffling crime. I also really liked the way the podcast gave all the ‘players’, family as well as suspects, the chance to share their side of the story. I wish there were more long form investigative podcasts of this quality coming out, but anyway 5 stars all the way!

    Important story; poorly crafted
I feel for Janine’s family and wish them all the best in their search for answers. However, this podcast is quite poorly put together. It has sooo many clips of partial interviews that it becomes rather hard to follow, and there is a constant repetitive inquiry into Deputy Mayor Hozemans, episode after episode, even AFTER the author/narrator makes it very clear that he doesn’t suspect Hozemans or find any facts that directly connect him to Jeanine’s disappearance. Furthermore, it was a pretty cheap trick to hold on to key information until Episode 8! Like the fact that Janine was regularly using drugs like pot and ecstasy, was in touch with drug dealers as a normal thing, and was talking about suicide the week before her disappearance! This completely changes how one would look at the details that took place on the night of Janine’s disappearance, including and especially her lost purse, her level of upset, and the fact that three friends saw Janine get into a strange car. It also makes the first seven episodes feel a bit like a waste of time as one would need to listen to them again with all of this new information in mind. Come on The Australian, we know you can do better with such an important story!

    Too Many Episodes
This was a good podcast, for the most part. It got to be super redundant towards the end. This info could have been conveyed in half the episodes. I had to stop listening. I hope the family gets some answers. I cant imagine what they’re going through.

    Very interesting podcast
This podcast is very intriguing. It investigates the facts, rumors, multiple perspectives of the disappearance of a young woman in Australia in 2001. This case has never been solved but now, thanks to this podcast is back on the radar so take a listen and decide for yourself what happened to Janine!

Not as good as The Teacher’s Pet
I loved The Teacher’s Pet and recommended it to anyone looking for a compelling podcast. I am half way through The Night Driver, and it feels like it’s really dragging. I’d still give it a listen if you are looking for a podcast to dive into!
