FFO: Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, old Fleischer cartoons, Grimm’s Fairytales. I’m an adult man, no kids, but my friend’s 7 y/o daughter recommended Magic Woods to me. She loves it, now I do too. Beneath the surface of these short stories is a psychological depth that is surprising, but also suitable for young minds. In what seems almost to be a stream of consciousness, the narrator/author presents a world of curious characters and predicaments that are endearing and occasionally a little challenging. The author doesn’t pander or present obvious morality plays- rather, each story is an invitation to look deeper, ask questions, and safely explore things that are a little more nuanced than they first seem. That being said, the narrative is tidy and well-produced enough to simply be taken as nothing more than imaginative bed time stories. My honest feeling is that the author is bordering on a unique kind of genius here. Not sure if it will be to everyone’s taste, but this is undeniably a special podcast, and I’m very glad to know about it!

Our family has become obsessed with Magic Woods. As a parent I especially love that there are no ads and no selling stuff (we bought the books and support on Patreon in thanks). Perfect for roadtrips or coloring after dinner. In my opinion, this is the best kid podcast around.

Our whole family loves listening to Magic Woods from the 2-year-old to the 42-year-old! The stories are funny and engaging and we are all eager to hear what Kitty, Bunny and Doggy will get up to next. The narrator brilliantly uses descriptive words that expands our kids’ language without going over their heads. A must listen for family car rides!

This podcast was recommended to me recently, and as soon as my 6 year old and I started listening to it, she was instantly hooked. It’s the only thing she requests when we get in the car. The stories are short, fun, and silly, and we love all the characters. It isn’t interrupted by ads every few minutes like other podcasts, which is amazing!! Highly highly recommend!

A sweeping epic tale that will capture the attention of the whole family. We appreciate the open hearted acceptance that is woven through the storylines including what it means to be a friend, face fear, experience love and even loss. So grateful we came across this during summer vacation!

I can’t help but notice some of the wording and it’s innuendos being slipped into the story/ for example someone named Mr Boobie, why? As adults we know what that is. Everyone else has silly names why pick that name for someone in the story? Another episode talked about balls and repeated it in such a weird way, something along the lines of the balls were over there and then my balls were over here all the balls were together and he wanted to play with my balls too - it just seems weird to include that. One star because the other stories seem fine but it just feels really inappropriate to include some of the names and recalls of sexual stuff. Like again, this is for kids right? Why include that?!

Seemed like a great podcast till I overheard a story about repealing marriage laws and letting cats marry rabbits and ridiculous stuff. Don't sneak that stuff in kids content without notifying parents that it will have content like that. Not your place to teach my kid politics.
