Petrichor478I love this podcast! And only wish I had the idea to find a DBT podcast sooner. I saw other people’s reviews about the audio, but I haven’t noticed any issues for myself. I really enjoy that it’s more of a lighthearted podcast. There are plenty of ways to learn about DBT without fun and laughter, so I love that Kate and Michelle share this fantastic information while letting their personalities shine through!

DBTnewbieMakes the book make senseI’ve recently completed DBT certification and I was getting so overwhelmed. I keep reading and re-reading ML’s manual and I’ve been having trouble planning and determining how/when to teach certain skills. Listening to your podcasts has helped me understand the modules in a way that helps me integrate the training into my practice more smoothly and explain skills to clients in ways they understand. I’m feeling so much more confident in my ability to teach these skills. Thank you <3

nfrewNervous laughter overshadows content slightlyThe DBT content is great, but it is admittedly overshadowed by the unconscious nervous laughter that is expressed while answering listener questions or during self promotion. Which btw self promotion is fine to do. While attempting to create light and welcoming atmosphere for vulnerable topics can be helpful, I find the laughter to be distracting because it doesn’t always match the tone of the questions submitted by the listeners. It can also send a message that the questions being asked are of a laughing matter, which I highly doubt is the aim here. Additionally, while many long time listeners and fellow therapists may know the acronyms being used, it would be helpful to quickly explain them each time one is used for the first time in any given episode. Most ppl exploring a podcast for the first time don’t start at the beginning but rather the latest episode. Just food for thought and a adjustment for the podcasters to make it better.

ndickensonLike “Being Home”This podcast has been a godsend because I’ve been told DBT would be really good for me, but it is impossible to find anybody who accepts medical insurance that does DBT. Using this podcast (and soon their book because I just bought it), I will be able to try to do the work!! The host of the show are 100% real and honest. They are quirky and caring just like me!

Chewy ChewciferGreat Content Poor Audio QualityAbsolutely wonderful podcast material, leaves you hanging on to every word they say. Audio quality sounds like it is coming from an omnidirectional mic which picks up the sound of the entire room. It makes their voices either extremely loud or too soft. Virtually impossible to listen to while driving, and a danger to listen to with headphones. You have to adjust the volume constantly to turn up their voices and then try to turn down the laughter. With just a few quick adjustments (like the use of a compressor) this already great podcast would be top notch and five stars instead of three.

Jln8675309I have learned so much!I’m prefacing this with the fact that this is my 5th DBT podcast to start at the beginning and listen end to end. I listen to them while I exercise as this began as a very lonely time of day for me. To me, this podcast is a gem. There are many somewhat similar DBT podcasts to listen to. Some are shorter and more concise, some are more comforting to listen to. Kate and Michelle bring so much of themselves into this process. So kind and empathic. They want success for their listeners. They provide feedback as experienced therapists and better yet as users of the tools. This is all trustworthy advice and time tested by many of their other clients as well as themselves. The fact that you get examples, additional feedback, thorough descriptions from multiple points of view makes this an invaluable podcast. Kate and Michelle make you think. They stretch the skills a little further. This is a very comprehensive look into DBT. Add it to your library and listen to all the DBT Podcasts, skill to skill or end to end, however works for you, and benefit from these skilled therapists and giving people. “So yeah” At minimum take a listen to the recorded closing moments for some mindfulness and the radical acceptance episodes. They are invested in these skills being helpful to everyone. Can’t wait to read the book. 💘

Bella2718Host is too loud!I couldn’t even make it 10 min in and I had to turn it off. I was listening to the episode about emotional eating. The host Kate was so LOUD and kept laughing and interrupting the guest. I had to keep adjusting the volume to hear the guest speaking. Then the host would jump in laughing (nothing was funny) and I had to turn it down. Just unprofessional and I was really hoping to learn from the guest.

Susie 1981Favorite DBT PODCASTI appreciate almost everything about this podcast. The barking laughter reminds me so much of my sister and I in younger days, that somehow I have grown to enjoy this last bit, too. Thanks for this great podcast about DBT Skills, Kate and Michelle😀

rachel.loosathotmaildotcomNot beginner friendlyWish they would explain what the acronyms/skills mean as they reference them in each episode. I’m pretty new to DBT and I can’t pause the show to look up what ACCEPTS or the Dime Game is. I imagine they’ve described it in earlier episodes but a few sentences to reminder the listener what they’re talking about would be very helpful.

Dbt and meA bad look for TherapistsFive minutes of self promoting before getting into it and everything is soooo funny apparently. Nothing wrong with some humor but there is a line. Have a feeling this is going to annoy many. Fortunately we therapists are not all like this. Many have far better insight into how they might be coming across.

KeltieJanThe laughing :(I would have rated this MUCH higher but the very loud, startling, inappropriate laughter is so disturbing and distracting that I couldn’t. Your content is very important and sometimes heavy. I don’t understand why so many people have commented on the inappropriate tone of voice and laughter yet I see nothing changing.

Horsefan101gggggSolid and relatable but not efficientThis is not the most efficient way to learn DBT or a particularly polished podcast… there are numerous digressions and interruptions. But there’s a lot of friendly examples and troubleshooting and a lot of the content sinks in better once it’s explained several times anyway, so I think it works quite nicely. The hosts balance each other out in an interesting way, Michelle is kind of the put together therapist figure and Kate is the therapist who you can trust because she’s very frank about all of her own struggles.

Nothere2Please less banter & laughterI am looking for a DBT podcast to help me along my journey. When searching for episodes about mindfulness, I found your DBT Mindfulness “How” episode. I was so excited to queue it up so I could learn from you. I need these skills reinforced via auditory learning. We went over these skills in class last week but simply sitting down with the workbook isn’t enough for me to absorb the details. I have a deep desire to understand DBT, and use it in my daily life. I found it difficult to listen to the episode because of the joking and the laughter. I can’t follow along and focus with the distractions. I am interested in trying your show again if you record calm, concise and informative episodes. Thank you.

StumpyjGame changer!I found Michelle and Kate back in 2020 and attended their virtual group program during Covid… game changer for my anxiety! Fast forward to 2023 and I still listen to their weekly podcasts. They have amazing, practical content with a relatable and compassionate approach. The way they break DBT down is easy to understand and is a great resource for keeping my skills refreshed and on point for when I need them. They are like my pocket DBT therapists. Can not thank them enough for the difference their teachings have made and how the podcast continues to help my DBT practices. Love you both xx

EazyEJCSo compassionate and informative!I just found this podcast and am listening from the beginning. I’m so excited to be learning more about DBT. I have a book on it but had found it confusing. Already I’m seeing clarity in my understanding thanks to Kate and Michelle! Also I think their chemistry is fantastic and the laughter delightful! I wish I lived in your area bc I would join one of your groups. Keep up the awesome work!!

BoschimicaGiggling and loud talking overshadows the contentThe content seems very useful but the LOUD giggling and flippant comments detract from the message. One of the speakers’ voices & communication style, in particular, sounds so grating; I had to turn down my speaker. I think a more mature and professional communication style would be more effective.

Blindy630For the love of Pete stop joking around and tell me my skills for DBT!I have had a lot of counselors joke around and say they know the skills of DBT. Or how to cope with stress through CBT. All they do is laugh and laugh and they have no idea what to do when it gets to the part where they please have to tell me what skill. They never get to the point and talk in circles. This is what I hear from this podcast. It hurts. I’m very frustrated by this. Sometimes you really need to take some thing seriously you can joke a little but when it comes to joking so much where you start to forget what you’re saying, for example the latest episode about depression and DBT, it’s very frustrating.

AmmajarvIn DBTI am and have been in a DBT group and 1:1 therapy for a bit over a year. I have grown a significant amount because of this. I have found this podcast extremely helpful to listen to. It is nice to have multiple explications or interpretations as to how to use the tools. I appreciate the vulnerability in sharing and support that these ladies provide! Thank you X100

-
MLLJPLove this podcast!!I love the dynamic between the hosts and the content is excellent. I love that they pick on skill and do a deep dive on it and explain it in a way that makes sense. This podcast has helped me remember to use my skills.
-
rosalleaEffort appreciated butThe giggling , silly talk , voice. attitude only detract and trivialize some real important and serious issues and I find it difficult to listen and take it in but sure appreciate your effort.

mom of two pdxDBT Therapist ApprovedThis is the podcasts I recommend to my clients. It’s not just full of great DBT content but has a more approachable, friendly vibe in sharing this valuable information. I appreciate the personalization, examples and humor they bring together and they clearly have a great working relationship which makes it feel very natural like two Therapist friends chatting over brunch over a professor lecturing 200 people in a hall.
-
Kate41195Highly recommend!!Great podcast - anyone can benefit from DBT skills. Michelle and Kate are fun, compassionate, and authentic. This podcast is significantly helping me!
-
GabeoGreat DBT showLearning a lot Love how friendly and kind Kate and Michelle are
-
sugarglider58Good content but…The constant giggling is distracting.
-
Xsenia SDBT and MeUnprofessional and insensitive to those who either have been hospitalized or know someone who has struggled deeply with depression or anxiety. Comments and inappropriate humour presumably to keep things light and fun were hurtful and thoughtless. After listening to this followed by pointless banter I gave up waiting for the DBT skills to be explored. DBT is an incredible tool for everyone. This podcast doesn’t do it justice. I’m unsubscribing.

JimmijimDbt is the futureI couldn’t have had this podcast at a better time!

geesaeahExcellent content but distractingI love the idea and the content could be 5 star. I do have some thoughts and ideas about the constant giggling. It's distracting. Girl stop giggling! Are you nervous? Scared? Use your dbt skills!

TandrmbikeWonderful approachable DBT podcastBoth Kate and Michelle are warm, calm, and supportive in their discussions on DBT, and they have a great rapport together. They share pieces of their own stories and struggles, provide examples for many of DBT skills, and sometimes even role play actual scenarios. They also take listener questions regularly. I have so appreciated this podcast and how they make DBT skills feel approachable and applicable to everyone. I notice another reviewer mentioned that the hosts swear a lot. I just wanted to acknowledge that they do swear, so it’s not an appropriate podcast for kids. But from my perspective, it is not excessive at all, and for me, this makes the podcast feel more natural and less clinical, which I personally like.
-
JincA lot of cursingI like the content and I also am very distracted by the cursing. I’m not trying to be prude. It just isn’t necessary that often. Also I agree with other reviews that there is a lot of distracting laughter. Not sure if I’ll continue to listen
-
Mom has got no timeDistracting laughterThe idea of this podcast is amazing. However, I am finding it both painful and difficult to listen as one of the therapists won’t stop laughing and it is very distracting. In my frustration, I struggle to stay on topic because her thoughts are all over the place and she keeps giggling to cover it up.
-
MalpalForever 21Life changingI love how they explain everything and it helps in day to day life esp. with BPD

Lex (They/Them)Best Mental Health Podcast Out There, if not the best podcast PERIOD.I can not rave enough about Kate and Michelle and the energy, information, and genuine care that they bring to the table as they guide folx from all levels of understanding, all backgrounds, and all ages in finding ways to utilize and understand DBT. This podcast deserves 20 out of 5 stars (at least). This has become a consistent and looked forward to part of my self care routine... and they even have a Facebook group where they post worksheets, answer questions, and engage with the community that they built. Truly, the best podcast out there.
-
DaniPhotographsWonderful contentI found this podcast when my therapist introduced me to DBT therapy as a way to better understand some of the concepts and I found a lot of helpful into here. Please work on the up-speak 🙏🏼. It dilutes the validity of the content and can just be distracting.
-
vinyldashArggghhh!I wish I could give this more stars because the content seems useful & the hosts wonderful but the sound difference is so frustrating to try to turn volume up & down, I stopped listening. Sounds like one host has a studio with a microphone & the other is in her car on speaker phone while driving on the highway with open windows. Please fix the sound, I think you have some great things to say!!!
-
JloosostGood review of DBT skills but voulme difficultiesThis provides a good review of DBT but the low volume on Kate is so low it sounds like she us mumbling. The mixed volumes are extremes so that to hear the low one, you have to turn the volume up so much that the other presenter hurts your ears. It’s so distracting I have had to stop listening. If they fix the terrible recording issues, I would give it more stars.
