Meandering Nonsense in The Most Fun Way
Less Is Morgue was something I had stalled on participating in. I first learned about it from the Diregentleman channel and their fun series Terrible Writing Advice but I was busy with work and I didn’t find the time for podcasts. I have now learned to regret this decision. This show is a solid series. The characters are fun and quickly become endearing. My favorite parts where when they just vibed while they waiting for the guest star to arrive. Some of my favorite episodes just focused on the two of them. Riley is such a riot, sometimes they would just make an odd comment about the injustices of society and I would bust a gut. Eveline as well, she’s just so positive and sweet that when she has a dark moment it’s hilarious. Honestly all of the writing is pretty top notch. Even when a joke didn’t land for me I never found it annoying, it just wasn’t my vibe. And there’s some subtle character growth throughout the story. It’s interesting to watch our favorite Ghoul-friend soften up just a smidge while remaining consistent. Now, all of that being said this isn’t exactly a perfect show. There’s some technical problems that bug me once in a while, though nothing great. Most podcasts I’ve watchedβ€”rehearsed or otherwiseβ€”will allow characters to talk over each other to allow the conversation to feel more realistic, because that’s what people do. Here you can feel the spaces of silence in between the lines, but it’s only a little distracting. There is one story aspect that I don’t like and that is the character Todd. Now, I get what they’re going for, and sometimes it will work but he drags the pace of the bit by a lot. All of the other characters are super-fast with the delivery of the punch line but Todd takes his sweet time to get there, a lot of time, very much a lot, like really slow in a way that brings things to a halt, like this incredibly long sentence I have made, you know, the one with all of the commas, yeah. I may have cheered a little when the announcer gave me hope that he would not return. Todd slandering aside, this podcast was great, I really missed out by not tuning in. It’s been close to a year without new episodes but one of the creators has started a new podcast called Kingmaker. Guess what? It’s pretty good so far. I’m happy for the memories though, even if there are no more episodes it was still a fun time. This gets my thumbs up.

Dark comedy. Even the secondary outtake story.
This podcast is so funny I ended up binging it repeatedly totally forgetting my promise to feed my neighbor’s dog after they left on vacation a month ago but luckily they have early onset dementia and so I just kept denying they told me.

    Hilarious and irreverent
This show is a comedy about two oddball characters sharing a space. It's the classic odd couple with a supernatural twist. Overall it's a lot of fun and tends to punch upward rather than downward, which is often an issue with other comedy shows.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Joshua
    Hilarious, gross, and sweet
It’s been years since I found a piece of media with a more entertaining duo than Riley and Evelyn. The writing in this series is incredible: the comedy is some of the sharpest I’ve heard in years, the emotional moments will bring a tear to your eye, and the plots of each episode are very well constructed. Definitely recommended

Listen or Riley will eat you!!
Let’s be clear, listening to Less is Morgue will not **prevent** your demise by ghoul consumption, just reduce the odds somewhat.

Incredibly funny with a great heart
I love how emotional this podcast makes me feel. I love how much Riley and Evelyn have grown as characters and I’m excited to see what else they’ll face as the series goes on

    So funny
As an admittedly anti-social person with a sense of gallows humor that my spouse is forced to explain to friends on a regular basis, this podcast is a perfect complement to my personality. It is hilarious, gripping and truly original. Keep it up folks

    Love this Podcast
I’m already one episode in give or take the true facts episodes and I already love it.
  • Horrorcomedy
potential, a bit bland in execution
Enjoyment of this podcast might depend on your priorities for what you like in a show. I like the potential this podcast holds, however even the concept itself gets a bit old upon explanation. A ghoul and a ghost do a slice of life podcast together... and? Not everything has to be big, and slice of life can be very enriching, but I was pushing episode 4 thinking man I wish something would actually happen.. as it stands I just don't care about the characters enough to listen to them quip for 20 minutes every single episode. And the thing is there's some really good nuggets of dynamics (such as Riley and Evelyn's relationship regarding Riley eating her) that just... don't take off like they could. Things that really could be dug into get played for jokes, conflicts are cheap at best, and the characters don't actually seem emotionally invested in their own relationships. The jokes ARE clever and really highlight the monster mash experience, which I think is the show's strongest selling point, but as far as premise there's just... something to be desired. I've not been hooked into any character arc, relationship, or seen a clear direction for the story to unfold. Kinda snoozin' for me to trudge through. Might get better later on, though.

    Sardonic, yet sincere
If you want eccentric, off-the-wall, whip-smart humor with your spooky, gory, and/or supernatural fix, this is the show for you. It also blends a sardonic edge with an unexpected amount of sincerity.

one of the few things that bring me joy now
it’s uplifting, it’s hilarious and just a little morbid. I love it. it’s my new hyperfixation. I didnt know I even liked podcasts this much until i came across this. I hope it’s on FOREVER!

    Beautifully Relatable
I think I’ve never seen any piece of media as relatable to me as this podcast. Not only is there a lot of representation it’s GOOD representation. It’s not representation for brownie points, it’s obvious that the people writing these episodes know how to approach it, speak from experience. It brings a smile to my face with every episode. I hope this series goes on for a long, long time. A must listen for anyone in the LGBT community or the neurodivergent. As for the comedy? The first few episodes are slow, but I’ve legitimately laughed at a lot of the later bits, which is saying something because I have a hard time with humor

    An instant favorite.
This is one of two podcasts that I will immediately start listening to a new episode, even if I’m in the middle of a different podcast. The quirky, outlandish, morbid, and utterly lovable Riley and Evelyn keep a smile on my face from beginning to end!

    Absolutely lovely!
I came from the DireGentleman channel after hearing about this podcast, and it’s pretty much the first podcast I’ve binged and listened to consistently. I listened to a couple episodes a day on my drive to and from work until I finished the first season, and managed to convince my parents to put it on during our long drive home to Illinois from Virginia. I’m looking forward to what comes next, and have been inspired to keep my creative dreams alive ❀️

    A refreshing change!
This show is so funny and unique, it’s amazing getting to see new creators break into podcasting and have such fresh takes. My favorite ghost and ghoul podcast hosts, bar none!

I decided to check this out because Alexis Bristowe is on here and she ones off my faves from the nosleep podcast. I was curious to how this would go but it’s so quirky and I’m hooked ! The β€œads” in between are too funny . Def a must listen to if you love funny horror

    A wonderful time
I’m writing this purely so Evelyn can get a nickelback album and so Riley can get more takeout I enjoy this podcast so much
  • Snarkclaw
    Hilarious
I cannot get over how hilarious every single episode of this show manages to be. Less Is Morgue is an absolute gem that manages to be surprisingly human for a podcast about a ghoul misanthrope and upbeat ghost.
  • Mom Bod
    Every Episode is Podtastic
Full stars, I’ve listened through this podcast numerous times. Just listen to it, do it for yourself, then share it. Every character is unique, funny, and like a ghoul fever dream. Beware of the aggressive foley work because if they say Riley is drinking mayo.. I assure you, it sounds like it. Also, find a place in your heart for non-conformance, because nothing in this podcast is normal and that’s the way it should be.

    Gruesomely Wholesome
I’ve been trying out a lot of podcasts while at work, and this is one of the few that stuck. Extremely wholesome, genuinely funny. I have learned to start reading the titles, because when Tarrare showed up I wasn’t expecting it and nearly dropped to the ground laughing.

    Charming!!!!!
I am so frickin charmed by this show! Less is Morgue is an (allegedly) fictional interview podcast hosted by a droll ghoul (Riley) and an energetic, Nickleback-stanning ghost (Evelyn). Shenanigans ensue, as they should, and they are lovely. I'm from Florida originally, and let it NEVER be said I don't enjoy being targeted specifically with Florida-based humor (#FloridaMan), of which there is TONS in this Tallahassee-based show. There are SO many moments that made me giddily laugh out loud right from the beginning (Oedipus 3000, oh man....) and every character introduced is vivid, silly, and fun. If this show hasn’t won you over by the introduction of Bloody Mary, I truly don’t know if there’s much to be done for you.

This show is great in so many ways I’ll never be able to fully describe. Trust me. Just listen.
  • Caris Clearwater
    Dead Funny
Who knew cannibalism, Satan, and zombies could be so entertaining? Riley and Evelyn are a podcast odd couple comprised of a paranoid ghoul and a perky ghost. Listen to them interview French revolutionaries, cultists, Australians, and stoners on their quest for premium content. And maybe something mushy like friendship or whatever. Five stars!
  • Lindsay_Hellcat
    Darkly funny and wickedly entertaining
A ghost and a ghoul start their own podcast in a basement in Tallahassee, Florida. It’s delightfully weird, darkly funny, and wickedly entertaining. Hosts Evelyn and Riley are the audience’s tour guides in the world of the supernatural. Past guests have included the ghost of Tarrare, Florida Man, the Devil, and Riley’s cousin, Shaz. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a good horror-comedy.

Great except for the sound effects
Love the idea and the format. But the added sound effect for Evelyn’s voice is grating to listen to and makes the episodes nearly unlistenable. I think you could get away with telling listeners Evelyn is a ghost with no sound effects. We believe Riley is a ghoul.

    Hilarious Dark Humor
Less Is Morgue is a hilarious dark comedy with sharp writing. The team is clearly familiar with the horror genre, and they pull from it in fun and interesting ways. The characters are charming and keep you engaged in the amusing plot lines. I was immediately invested in the lives of Evelyn and Riley. I can't wait to see where this series goes in future episodes!

Much like the brilliant β€œStrange β€˜N Unusual Podcast”, β€œLess Is Morgue” feels like American anime, except it’s done RIGHT. It actually works, and I can’t for the life of me figure out why - so I just thank God that it does. Please keep the episodes coming ... this is insanely fun stuff.
