This is a disgrace to the USCG aviation community

These guys are not good ambassadors for the USCG AST’s.

Current active duty AST here. Vince La Point did not even complete a full tour (4 years) as a rescue swimmer in the coast guard. Vince was stationed at first in Detroit where he was promptly booted from after sexual misconduct with a female pilot. He was given a last chance in Atlantic City, where he was again booted and discharged from the military. Vince is a terrible ambassador for the AST rate and lifestyle, and continues to profit off of the AST name when he himself could not hack it as one. If you truly are curious about what it is we do feel free to contact your local air station and talk to an actual AST.

As an active duty AST, I’m embarrassed by this podcast. They talk about saving lives but the whole “Rescue Swimmer Mentality” is about satisfying their own ego and making some money off the Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer name. These guys did one tour at a sleepy unit in Detroit. They are not “A” school instructors, STAN team or experienced multiple tour swimmers. All you will get from this podcast are some tricks on how to weasel through “A” school. Never met Vince but when I reported to Atlantic City in 2017 the swimmer shop and hangar deck were still telling stories about some dirtbag named Lapointe. After failing in Detroit he was given a second chance in AC where he was finally kicked out of the Coast Guard. If you want real information on what being a Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer is actually about or the history behind the program look somewhere else.

As someone exploring a couple of different SAR opportunities, both in and out of the the military, I’ve appreciated the variety of guests brought into this podcast. There are more career routes than I could have imagined - Cody and Vince do an excellent job discussing the differences and similarities.

Been thinking about enlisting in the Coast Guard and trying to go for AST. Love the podcast and the information you guys give out, it’s really helpful. Still waiting on the podcast on the breakdown on how much an AST makes.

Love what they are doing with their company. They have an amazing podcast with episodes that will suit anyone. Their episodes range from training tips that could benefit anyone to coast guard facts to entertaining stories that will make you come back for more. I highly recommend you take a listen.

Been listening to a bunch of Cody and Vince’s podcasts for a few weeks now and I can’t say enough good things about it. If you are interesting in the coast guard, joining now (me), or already in I highly recommend it. Bravo Zulu boys

Needs some work but it’s getting better

Cody and Vince do an exceptional job with providing content about the rescue swimmer rate that can’t be found on the internet. Most questions regarding being an AST can be found here. They also have other outlets for information, (website, blog, social media) as well as offering personable training for any advanced military school. What they’re offering is unparalleled compared to other military training as they are very transparent and personable with their followers. Something you won’t find somewhere else !

Wealth of knowledge and positive vibes. Constructive and concrete advice for improvement and delightful anecdotal, supplemental information. I’ll recommend it to anyone interested in or aspiring to become a AST.

Incredible training tips with great military guests. It’d be awesome to hear from Navy Seals, Green Berets and just more Special Forces in general. Keep the boot camp and veteran stories coming! I especially love the WILDERTAINMENT Podcast episodes! Going to go subscribe to that Podcast STAT!...before it comes off the Rescue Swimmer Mindset platform.

I’m in training to be an AST (rescue swimmer) and this podcast has helped me in my preparation and training. Cody and Vince share a lot of good insight as to expectations in swimmer school and how to not make the mistakes of many who fail. I enjoy listening to every episode and I encourage you to listen as well whether you’re in the military or not.

I’ve listened to every single episode and they just get better and better!! Keep it up!

This podcast is packed with important information and useful tips from somebody who has experienced it all. The RSM podcast is needed for anyone who is interested in becoming an AST or other elite military jobs.

“A fail to plan, is a plan to fail” This podcast offers a ton of information in preparing for AST A school. I ship out February 11th for bootcamp, and this podcast has helped me gain some confidence going in.

Best podcast to listen to if you are aiming towards any elite military schools

The Rescue Swimmer Mindset Podcast is a very inspiring and informative podcast. There is not much information (at least in my research) out there about Rescue Swimmer training. This podcast not only explains what becoming a Rescue Swimmer will demand from you physically and mentally but also explains how a Rescue Swimmer himself has given what it takes to earn the title of United States Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer.
