Why isn’t Coach Self’s Hawk Talk radio show in this feed anymore?

Love the podcast when Wayne is doing interviews (5 STARS) but hate that they have decided to start dumping Big 12 weekly stuff into the feed (1 STAR). Come on! If you are on break, just leave it empty. Hope it restarts soon with real content.

I love how the show talks about the KU history. And, also engages with current student athletes.

Wayne hosts classy conversations that give you an inside look at KU players and staff. His experience on the court adds credibility and he doesn’t waste time with childish old boy nonsense that other similar podcasts do. Appreciate this one.

Wayne does a great job. I enjoy the interviews with everyone. But, I really like hearing from the non-revenue sports. XC in the future?

I liked Brian Hanni, but I LOVE Wayne. It’s fun to hear from a player perspective & I just think Wayne has the best podcast voice.

I’ve been listening since the beginning. The personal side, more than the highlight reel moments, are what keeps me listening. Adding: since Wayne Simien has taken over as host the podcast is even better!

So glad I discovered this pod a few weeks back. I’m a Jayhawk basketball lifer so I’ve listened to all 20 plus from this year that cover the hoops team. Excited for more. Looking forward to hearing current players like Garret, Harris, Braun , McCormack, etc and past greats like my wish list of Pierce, Laurent’s, Hassell, Vaughn and Hinrich! I am so thankful that KU welcomed Coach Owens back where he belongs in the KU family. I was lucky enough to chat with him in Miami at the 2008 Orange Bowl and he was so kind and told me a few stories. He is a class act, a great Jayhawk and this podcast was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Fantastic interview and warm feelings for Coach Owens!

Stories are great to hear from Jayhawk greats. Their perspective on things is truly an enjoyment to listen to. Keep up the good work Brian and other Jayhawks.

Even as an alum of KU, so many of these stories are unknown to me since I didn’t grow up with them and moved away after graduation. These episodes are simply moving. They give so much more depth to our great athletes and coaches and families. They’re a great way to get your friends and family who don’t like sports to appreciate the culture we have at KU.

I really enjoyed listening to Mr. Long give his prospective on the current status of KU Sports and it’s impact on the coaches, staff and students. It is really hard to believe the programs have been terminated for this season but we know it will be back and better than ever. As Mr. Long has so well put it, we really need the fans and students to be ready to come back in full force. Hang in there JayHawks, times will get better.

Hanni does a decent job asking questions and not interrupting, letting them talk. But too many obvious questions go unasked. KU fans want to know what it’s like in that locker room. What the player relationships are like. Who are the alpha dogs? Who are the most liked and respected by other players? What the practices are really like. What the coaches are like in their unguarded moments. Why did a player choose Self over Donovan? Or KU over Duke? What’s it like playing overseas? Why did Self abandon the 3 point shot in the 2012 title game and start throwing it in to Thomas Robinson when Anthony Davis was blocking everything in the paint, and KU’s 3-point shooters were hot? Hopefully Hanni will grow into this and ask even better, more penetrating questions. If it needs to run longer, why not? There is so much more behind the scenes stuff that we want to know.

It’s so awesome to listen to this podcast. You don’t just hear the players about “behind the scenes” as a Jayhawk basketball player. You also get to more about their own lives. Love it so much! (And now that it’s March without March Madness, it’s especially awesome.) Rock Chalk Jayhawk! 💙🏀❤️🏀💙
