SpayAndNeuterPleaseSuch a GemInCo is such a great little podcast. The story and characters are stellar (haha). The fact that it was all done by one person is mind blowing. It may or may not have made me cry at least once. Definitely listen with headphones/earbuds for the first season or so because the dialogue can be a bit hard to understand at times if you have some hearing difficulties like me, but it’s all worth it. Also transcriptions are easily available (yay accessibility!)

A. R. OLIVIERIA journey of selfInCo is the rare story with the ability to rip apart all aspects of your inner self, lay them bare, & reassemble them through the lives of other characters. The entire work feels like a vibrant & complex painting you can listen to. It also can’t be understated this is all achieved by a single person performing every role of the cast & crew by themselves. ItMe!! is an inspiration & this show is a must-listen.

ChemicallyWritShows Real Audio Drama MasteryThe thing about single-voice audio dramas is that they usually take advantage of only having one character to explore loneliness and monologue—very Hamlet. But this isn’t Hamlet. It’s Treasure Planet. There is only one voice actor on this show, but that actor manages to communicate dozens of characters, a wealth of worldbuilding, an incredible range of ideas, and a fantastic story. It’s still kind of a story about loneliness, but it’s one where the characters must put down their worst instincts and embrace a little vulnerability. It’s a master class in production. I love this show. Especially SAWA. She’s trying so hard.

ezgo22Impressive talent on displayThe thing that I love about listening to indie audio drama podcasts is discovering fresh creative talents. InCo is an audio drama in which a crotchety information seller rescues a spoiled prince and gets dragged into the mystery surrounding him. Every character in InCo is voiced by ItMe. It’s noticeable, but each character has a distinct personality and voice, and the layering of voice tracks and sound effects are so seamlessly done, that it ends up being quite immersive. The main three characters of InCo are great. SAWA stands out as the eager-to-please AI, played to ditzy perfection, is the most obviously comedic. But Nova’s spikey indifference clashes with Hatov’s haughty naïveté in ways that made me laugh out loud and also impressed me with both characters’ resourcefulness. Definitely give this show a listen.
