Math Therapy

8

Math Therapy explores the root causes of math trauma, and the empowering ways we can heal from it.  Each week host Vanessa Vakharia, aka The Math Guru, dives into what we get right and wrong about math education, and chats with some of today’s most inspiring and visionary minds working to make math more accessible, diverse, and fun for students of all ages. Whether you think you’re a "math person" or not, you’re about to find out that math people don’t actually exist – but the scars that math class left on many of us, definitely do. And don’t worry, no calculators or actual math were involved in the making of this podcast ;)

Your interview of Jo Boaler has energized and motivated me! I am Boalever too! Mindset and productive struggle along with tools to understand the benefits of stress are all key. Thank you for this great show.

Guest was great, host often throws it off
I listened S2 E8 and the content from the guest is phenomenal. I appreciate putting him on the platform. I think the host has good intentions of trying to be flattering by sounding like overly exciting but it was so cringey at times when the guest was trying to complete his thoughts and the host just kept interrupting with sound effects like OH MY GOD, many gasps and trying to finish his thoughts as he’s talking still or seem like she’s adding her two cents but she’s just repeating what he said or finishing his sentence while he’s still talking (often so off on her surface level interpretation compared to the introspective stories he shares that educators really want to hearing . At one point he’s having an interesting intellectual reflection on Pascal and out of no where she stops him and says something like “On my god was he single ? Did he live a double life? Did he have multiple wives?” Almost like an annoying YouTube ad right in the middle of the good part. I’m gonna use it as a reference for guests to listen to elsewhere
