Oh jeez oh man I love this podcast
(name pronounced box ter and hua like chihuahua) I love this show so much. It's gotten me through a lot of nights and rough times on my cleaning job, not that the job is hard but emotions and stress is, and this show is one that I always look forward to starting my week. I started maybe late 2019 early 2020? and caught up with the show about halfway through the yu-gi-oh season. All this time I love how all three of the hosts bounce off each other and give energy to one another and make jokes. Especially when the shows being covered are less than savory, I still find every episode just as good if not better than the last. I have a lot of listless times in my life but I know every week (barring life issues) I can come back and have an episode of this incredibly enjoyable show. Thanks Joy, Ray, and Jupiter for the cast, wish y'all many good times!

one of the best podcasts of our generation
i wrote a brief review earlier when i was going throught the backlog and now that i'm caught up, and season 3 has finished, i thought i'd put my writing to good use. this doesnt have to be read on the show (it might be long) i just wanted to do this. from the opening episode, the dynamic is instantly set up perfectly. the three hosts: marble, ray and jupiter, sit down talking about their thoughts on anime, and then jump into an episode of yugioh, drifitng into tangets about the monsters and communisim. the hosts have such a wonderful energy, you can truly tell that these 3 (sometimes 4) are great friends, throwing the talking ball at each other with each bit excelling. the way the hosts discuss anime is really refreshing, as they enjoy it (sometimes), and are heavily critical of it when it deserves to be so. but in the few chances they have a great time you can see their joy and passion seep through their energy. from yu-gi-oh, to fighting foodons, to neo yokio to the just recently finished log horizon, this show is not afraid to be itself. they will discuss whatever they want. talking dogs, being sent to deadly dumpsters, sans undertale, FOOD, steve buscemi, trans rights, a very threating olive garden, kingdom hearts lore or just playing minecraft. this show is not an anime podcast, it is a podcast about friends first and formost, with anime in the background. this never feels like a podcast and just a recorded hangout seesion with friends after watching a show or movie togtether trying to unravel their thoights as they so please. deck of friendship is a show that comes along surprisingly, a podcast where the main focus is not what you'd expect, but the hosts are so charming, witty and lovely folks, they eat up your listening time, causing me to come back for more each time. it is an amazing show that akes me care for my friends and be critical with anime, even the ones i love. one of the best podcasts of our time, it's a joyful delight start to finish. Woof, am i right?

anime may be a mistake but this podcast makes it worth it
I've been listening to this wonderful show religiously for a year. I can't be productive at home without listening to it. Its quite the problem that I can only do laundry when I hear the trio make hot takes about some problematic favs. I kid ofc, but nevertheless the show is great. The hosts individually are great on their own, but together, you get an auditory version of Remy combining flavors Ratatouille scene. These friends make an hour go by 20 minutes talking about a show that makes 20 minutes seem like an hour! Each has their own humor that bounces well off of each other. Let Joy's bubbly personality, Jupiter's radio rebelliousness, and Ray's PG goofiness make a busy afternoon fun! I am no longer asking, go listen to this show now!

come for the anime, stay for the bits
I've been aware of this podcast for as long as it's existed, but I just kept putting it off. honestly I'm kicking myself for that. now, thanks to a 40-50 hour a week warehouse job, I have a lot of time for podcasts, so it just felt like time. y'all? y'all. this podcast is so good! at first I was curious because they were covering shows that I missed out on, but I honestly stuck around because this trio is genuinely funny and interesting. the way that Joy, Jupiter, and Ray are able to play off each other is impressive and I'm thankful for the facemask so coworkers don't see my goofy grin and stifled laughter. I can't wait to see what the future brings!

    Favorite podcast.
I think this is the only podcast I haven’t stopped listening to after the first 10 episodes, and instead listened to every episode consecutively for about a week.

Made Me Interested In A Gamer Anime
Not that I’ll ever actually watch it, because it won’t be 50% tangents about PAC-Man plotlines. Probably. Can’t be sure. But seriously, this is the only review type podcast I’ve ever had interest in, and that’s entirely because it’s just three friends having fun! I’d honestly get bored if they stayed on topic the entire time. Of course, they aren’t boring on topic either- there’s some genuinely fascinating discussions and theories, both serious and not so much. And they handle the eternal curse of anime’s unsavory moments well- aka, by deleting continual offenders from existence! Seriously, they had me convinced Joey was dueling an AI for an entire episode, talk about commitment. Overall, though, keep in mind this IS a comedy podcast- if you want ONLY serious reviews and discussions of Fighting Foodons, you’re better off on YouTube. That being said, maybe give this good ol sound file a chance anyways, everyone needs some laughs in their life! And I would like that VHS tape, please.
  • Florgness
    Enjoyable when on topic
I’ve started listening to this podcast at the Log Horizon eps and when they talk about the show it’s great but sometimes they go off on a huge tangent about PAC-MAN and those parts aren’t so great.

    Top 5 for sure
Deck of friendship is definately in my top 5 podcasts! The lovely hosts Ray, Marbles, Mars, and sometimes a guest (or their 4th offical host Joe) talk about anime (sometimes) and the class struggle. They've covered Yugioh (my favorite) season 1, Fighting Foodons, and so much more. They're generually really funny and kind people, and I love what they do so much!
  • Bart the Dude
If you dont listen ill deck your friendship!
Can you name a more iconic trio than these friends (dont say ed edd n eddy)? No? EXACTLY. These people are the funniest people around and they'll tear any friendship based anime to pieces (with in reason)! Listen just listen to the dang podcast idk man. Trust me.

    thanks gang!
I get a lot of podcast time while I work, and I slammed through the backlog of this podcast in less than 3 weeks. It's kept me company on my solo night shifts, and is one of my favorites of all time. I say this as someone who never watched Yu-Gi-Oh. (well I watched some GX. in the long long ago.) These hosts are fun, funny, and delightful! They exude good vibes and a gentle energy even when the goofs are making you laugh out loud! It's a really great listening experience, I don't know how else to say it. In these wild times, I'm very glad to have it. They watch animes that weren't in my circle and make me feel like I too am fondly remembering how good and/or bad they were, with friends.

my dog also likes to listen
want a podcast that will make you & your girlfriend do the catgirl voice at each other while confusing your other friends and coworkers? Listen to this one! Do it. But really! this is a lovely listen if you enjoy anime or just want to listen to 3 friends having a silly time. even if you dont watch any of the anime or movies they review its worth listening for the goofs! they review each anime with sincerity & positivity while also being honest & critical about the stank(because what anime doesnt have at least a little?). its also just great to listen to other queer people just talk and have fun! Joy, Ray, & Jupiter are incredible people and wonderful hosts!

This is way too long lol
This is honestly the only comedy podcast I listen to, I can’t get into any others. I’ve been a dedicated listener since probably June of 2019 and I’m so glad I stuck around. Even if the content of the anime is less than perfect, Marble, Ray, and Jupiter always make up for it. Whether it be nonsense bits that go on for what feels like hours, or overanalyzing a cartoon for kids, they always manage to make it interesting, engaging, and most of all hilarious. I want to do a personal shout out to the three of them and their distinct personalities. Marble’s true chaotic energy gives a distinct flair to the energy of the room and gives new avenues to analysis of source media (plz bring back marbles communism corner from the Yugioh series). Ray used to stay quiet when Marble and Jupiter were building off each other but always managed to chime in with a perfect witty comment to top off a conversation. Jupiter’s slightly dry sense of humor and delivery in contrast with their laugh always makes me bust out in turn. I really do love this podcast and urge everyone to give it a listen. I can’t wait until Bakugan or season 2 of yugioh get covered! (Ps thanks to Jupiter for giving me the representation I needed to come out as non-binary)

    Just a ball of fun
This show does a lot with a little, taking a single episode (usually) of an anime and running with it for as long as their attention spans can handle it. It got me to actually watch YuGiOh, which i can now call one of my favorite animes unironically. I may not be watching Log Horizon alongside these fun friends, but their episode desctiptions help make me feel like that's totally ok. Overall, Deck of Friendship is a wonderful show that's fun all the way through. (Except for Fighting Foodons, but that's not really their fault it's ok)

Could I Get A VHS Tape Please?
I’ve started watching your pod cast today and I absolutely love! It makes feel things I’ve never felt before, and I get more excited for the next episode! Your Yugioh episodes have inspired me to rewatch the anime for the first time in over ten years. Each episode has me burst into uncontrollable laughter, and I love all three of you very much. VHS plz? OWO

If Fighting Foodons was remade there'd be an Apple that's always on their phone
So I just spent half of the most recent "episode" trying to figure out how to change my email and name to get rid of my deadname so I could review you guys, and after giving up and spending the second half of the most recent """"""episode"""""" trying to log in with my new account and now I'm here and I realized I can just...write a nickname for the review... ...Cool podcast, 5 stars, would recommend, keep up the g-*review interrupted by Megalovania*

Card games assisting the socialist ideology
This is one of my favorite podcasts right now. I've been keeping up with it since around episode 8, and now I finally have an apple product so I can leave a review. This podcast got me to get back into YuGiOh, Cardfight, Kaijudo, Duel Masters, and in total just branch out from the Magic the Gathering focus I had taken in recent years. Now I've been riding with the trip of Fighting Foodons, and it's definitely an experience. I look forward to your future episodes, and whatever series you plan on doing next. On a side note, I just wanted to bring to your attention that there's a card called King of the Feral Imps. They have risen.

    Binge-Worthy and Hilarious!
Disclaimer that I'm only on the episode where they review episode 28 of Yu-Gi-Oh, but it has such a wonderful energy I couldn't wait to review it. I heard about it in an advertisement, and, because the winter holidays are a stressful time for me, I decided to check it out to see if I could find something de-stressing. What I found was exactly what I was looking for; three hilarious hosts talking about anime that I haven't even watched (but I get invested in anyway) whose friendship and humor cheered me up immensely. The day I found them, I had the day off, so I binge-listened to it nearly all day as I did art commissions. I'll be certain to keep this gem in mind when I next see someone asking for podcast reccomendations!

Installed Itunes Just To Review This Amazing Podcast
I watched Yu-Gi-Oh quite a bit in my youth and enjoyed it immensely before falling away from it and completely forgetting why I loved it so much. Marble, Ray, and Mars helped reawaken the love I have for Yu-Gi-Oh, got me to watch Space Jam for the first time, and have gently guided me down the deep rabbit hole that is Fighting Foodons. I can't think of a more lovely group of people to listen to talk about delightful shows that they're passionate about, and I am just glad to be along for the ride! They're hilarious, touching, and as close friends as you could want hosting a podcast about friendhip!
  • xZeeGeex
i think i love this show more than Yu-gi-oh itself which is A LOT
i absolutely loved Yu-gi-oh when i was younger, like full on obsessed, and then as i got older went through that phase of thinking my child self was lame (i was wrong!) and then i went to college and ended up rewatching Yu-gi-oh and falling in love all over again. And have unapologetically loved it since, but then my friend recommended this podcast to me and i fell in love with Yu-gi-oh AGAIN!!! Seriously listening to this show made me reflect again on all the reasons i love this ridiculous over the top show (while also addressing the big ‘OOF’s the show has in really great discussions) and I also laughed so hard i cried multiple times (both in the comfort of my home and at my desk at work!). The three hosts are so clever and hilarious and honestly are some of the most genuinely kind and friendly podcasters i have ever listened to. I’ve just finished up al the Yu-gi-oh episodes and cannot wait to listen to the new season and new show (and look forward to all future seasons of Deck of Friendship too)! Thank you to the hosts for creating such a wonderful gift to the world, I’m currently trying to make as many of my friends as possible listen to this show so that i can force them to then talk more about yu-gi-oh with me.

"Getting Back to the Show" the Show
Deck of Friendship is so incredibly good! The 3 hosts, Mars, Marble, and Ray, are extremely funny and are all genuinely excited about telling you about the 'newest' episode of an anime they watched! In between summarizing an episode and descirbing their favorite monster (or moon) that day, they go on long tangents that are always a laugh riot. The 3 hosts will gladly riff w/ one another, but will make sure to reel a bit in, if they go too far from the show. It's an incredible experience that everyone should enjoy! Also their talk on episodes 11&12 of Yu-Gi-Oh Season 1 legit made me laugh so hard I had to pause and wipe tears from my face! 11/10 The Best Podcast

How many times have I listened to this???
Roses are red, I love YuGiOh, but it’s all thanks to the Lunar Light Studio! No one in my family likes yugioh. So I kinda lost interest in the game and anime. Then I found this podcast of funny friends and am now geeking at my family. I now play the game watch the anime then watched the anime again and all the rest of then series. If you want to listen to a podcast about yugioh/kingdom hearts and Ursula that will make you laugh, this is the podcast for you! Great Scott! I almost forgot, I also love it when you guys talk like the characters, it makes me laugh every time, I hope you all go on to make more episodes and then I can annoy my family some more. (Ps. I’d love you to send me a VHS tape of Marble flossing)

Deck of Friendship has everything. Yu-Gi-Oh, seizing the means of production, humor, delightful hosts, and most importantly, its gay. You can tell the hosts really are excited to talk about Yu-Gi-Oh, and the conversations and bits they have are always fun to listen to.

Good content, Genuine (Deck of) friendship
Honestly I started listening to this for the amazingness of Marble’s communist interpretation of Yugioh but I STAYED because these three are so heckin adorable. Their friendship is a gift to listen to, their genuine love for the media they watch is refreshing, their bits are great, and their voices are cute to boot! Also, which weevil are you gonna shoot, Pegasus?

Just some good friendly pure cinnamon roll fun.
(disclaimer: this will get sappy) This show is my new obsession. Highly recommend to anyone who was a fan if the show, plays the card game, and especially to those who some how managed to miss one of the most unabashedly bizarre and illogical franchises of the early aughts. The commentary from the ever-so-lovable & utterly-charming (and obviously very attractive) hosts is hilarious and pretty ding-dang insightful for a show about a children’s card game and physiologically impossible hairdos. I can also only imagine how cathartic it is for the card game players to hear someone say “yeah that’s not how that works” and actually explain at least a little something about the game and not just quote “screw the rules, i have money”. Yugioh is one of those nostalgic things that‘s very close to my heart and something I’ve bonded over with only my closest of friends. Currently, i’m incredibly far away from all those people; attempting to get my BA before my rapidly approaching 30th birthday hits and i die from old age. I’m back in a place where i found it nearly impossible to make friends in my first go at college, back in 2008 (hi, i’m an internet senior citizen). Unfortunately even now, in the futuristic year of 2019 where we have flying cars and ear pods, i’m still finding it just as impossible to make friends. .. let alone find some one who wants to watch and talk about an old children's anime where mailing VHS tapes is a valid form of communication (srsly the show is older than most of my classmates). BUT getting to hear 3 good friends fall in love with this goofy cartoon and make up inside jokes the way i did with my friends makes me feel considerably less lonely. I feel like part of a conversation again. Thanks yah’ll! -Seb

    The real power of teamwork!
Deck of Friendship has everything. Children's card games. Nerdy discussion. Hilarious cohosts. Critical readings. Gay subtext. Seizing the means of production. I can't think of any other podcast that has all those things. If someone does, let me know, otherwise I'll keep listening to this. BTW I'm still waiting for those video casettes!

i havent slept in 24 hours
I've been meaning to start listening to this podcast for about a month and when I picked it up yesterday I genuinely couldn't stop listening until I was caught up. The good vibes and pure friendship that emanates from both the hosts and the show itself are honestly quite addicting, their dissections of each episode really help me enjoy the show in a way I didn't know how to back when I was ten, and I can confidently say I'm really diggin Yu-Gi-Oh a lot more than I thought I ever would. I guarentee you will love this podcast even if you aren't a fan of the show.

    this one’s on you
y’all are singlehandedly responsible for getting me back into yugioh again, and for that i shall have your souls in a shadow game. prepare yourselves! ...actually i’m supposed to be babysitting for martha next door, so maybe later. prepare yourselves for... tomorrow afternoon! at 4:30, by the wendy’s! then, i shall claim your souls for my own! (also congrats to marble for quitting her job!!! i wish you all the best 💖)

    An Exodia class podcast
Never did I think that in 2019 there would still be good content to be had from the original yugioh but boy howdy these great goofy pals prove me wrong every week. They have a great dynamic that never fails to make me laugh and I can’t wait to hear more.
  • Snakedoodles
a very nice and good podcast
Whether or not you're a fan of Yugioh, this podcast is a delight! Deck of Freindship is a truly apt name, as the freindship between the three hosts is evident in their goofs and banter. Listening to it feels like hanging out on the playground during resess and talking to friends about the latest episodes of Saterday morning cartoons. Deck of Friendship has everything from crazy theories about Derek Tsunami being inside the island to in depth analasis of classism in the show. Every week I'm excited to hear Mars, Ray, and Marbles opinions on new episodes, and just to laugh along with them. Deck of Friendship is well worth your listen!

    Who new I liked Yu-Gi-Oh!
Before this podcast a had pretty much no interest in Yu-Gi-Oh! But with the lovely energy produced by these hosts it has really hooked me! Great for binging and looking forward too every week, deck of friendship really is just wholesome fun. Good references, provides representation, great atmosphere, and hilarious hosts! What else could you need in a podcast! I could gush for hours!

Let's talk about card game anime friendship, baby
The situation: all I ever want to talk about is Yu-Gi-Oh. The problem: all of my friends are sick and tired of me talking about Yu-Gi-Oh. The solution? These three wonderful, wholesome, goofy friends sharing their in-depth analysis of everything from Pegasus' secret teen identity to Time Wizard's funky smell to Ursula the sea witch stealing Tristan's voice. It's so great to experience the show again from a fresh (and truly buckwild) perspective, and I swear I gain 5 years of life every time someone does a Joey impression. Keep doing what you're doing, friends!!

    This podcast is my favorite
This podcast is an amazing show and idea hands down. It's funny, has awesome host, and the reads and takes are interesting. Currently, they are covering Yu-Gi-Oh but I don't think you would have to watch it, to enjoy this and I highly recommend!

    They Get It
Anyone can watch a show about a children's card game and make fun of it. It takes some really special people to approach it as something worthy of analysis and actually make it work. All of the hosts are amazing and they're so funny together!
  • Iakou
    Big fun for Yu-Gi-Oh Fans
I can say as a fan of the show that these three friends bring a fresh and enjoyable take on the series. Learn what the exodia cards really represent, find out about yugioh's link with kingdom hearts through the sea witch ursala, hear the three hour episode detailing marble and harpy ladies wedding (okay not really but a girl can dream). All this and more can be yours if you just press play.

    A wonderful thing
When I found this podcast I loved it so much that I binged all the episodes and waited patiently for the next to come out. It’s just like the best podcast. Everyone is really funny and it’s just great.

    A fun listen
I started listening to this after it was recommended by badvertising, Im personally a big fan of game and monster anime so this seemed like my cup of tea. The discussions are really interesting and in depth, they bring up idea that I never would have thought of in the context of yugioh. it makes me really happy that more people are getting into yugioh, a series that's very close to my heart. your move! (also btw Id love a VHS)
  • The Joseppi
    My Favorite Podcast
This podcast has easily dethroned any contenders. It is my favorite because it is the best one. Objectively. Even tough DoF covers subject matter that I’m not terribly interested in, all of their discussion is interesting anyway and easy to follow as a stand-alone show. The hosts form a perfect trio of comedy. Their natural chaotic energy is amplified by one another, but there’s almost always one person left to ground the others and appreciate the storm alongside the listener. Not only that, but the hosts are genuine and sweet. It’s a show that is very much about the value and power of friendship - and that’s wonderful! Ray, Mars, and Marble - My turn is over. It’s your move! (Send me a VHS tape)
