olderbudweiserSmart ‘n funny ‘n perfectI love this show. It’s the articulate and irrelevant version of the roaming convos I used to have with the rest of the posse post-skate session. This podcast makes me happy and gives me hope for the future of skateboarding.

Jason ClineLords Of DogtownWithout question the most self righteous, pretentious, and bitter podcast I’ve ever heard. It was as if the Slap message board came to life and became movie critics.

Gwallemala?Would be great if Kristen was replaced with Alex.

Sno & LoCringe a lotThese are the kind of skaters I love but the virtue signaling is out of hand. Show, don’t tell, instead. I Love the mission but hate the delivery. I’d listen if there were time stamps.
-
idiotmanonerismWhat skateboarding needs. We, as a skate community, need to get back to where we started: the streets and the culture. This is the essential first step to the skate-mindset.

DeeBlock432Love you guys love this pod love all of it, except...Can y’all cutback on “like” and “literally” please thanks it hurts my ears :)

chasetheroosterA departure from the norm. This podcast is an excellent opportunity to hear a different perspective on skateboarding and skate culture than is and has been presented in the media. If you skate and have a curious mind, this is for you. If you don’t skate, there is a good chance you won’t understand 70% of what Ryan, Kristen, Ted, Ted and Kyle are talking about. If you do skate but don’t have a curious mind, it’s possible this podcast will just make you angry. They discuss problematic social issues ingrained in skateboarding culture in a critical way. They relate those ideas to a global community, rather than being ‘murica-centric. They offer criticism of videos, trick-selection, fashion trends, contests, media and skaters. This is the podcast I’ve wanted to listen to my whole life, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that these people got together and started talking about this stuff. Thanks to all of you who make this podcast possible.

dickmodel69Just be straight up more politicalIt’s extraordinarily clear some of you hold anti capitalist, maybe Marxist views and skateboarding needs that so badly, it’s a cesspool of reactionary beliefs.
-
Luke RiedyThe meta skate pod for those that want to grow their brains. It’s a great podcast for those that are mystified by their undying love for the most fun and mundane activity(skating). Great perspectives and fun thoughts.
-
TwefjajwjsjsjMy one and only podcastAn entire team of dedicated skaters showcasing that standing idle is lame. Every episode narrates discussions that are important to the development of something so dope to skating.
-
dddbbb847AmazingAbsolutely awesome podcast, interesting, hilarious, refreshing. They’ll say things you want to hear but won’t hear anywhere else. Please keep em coming

dbn138Not 9clubI stopped listening to the nine club once I realized there was never going to be any of the dime girls on set. Vent city talks about real topics that go a little bit further than “when/how did you start skating?” One of those Teds is really funny too.

MSD1986Skateboarding talk for grown upsMost commercial skate media is make for teenagers. The few skateboard media outlets that publish for an adult audience are directly dependent on skateboard brand advertising for their budgets and therefore tend to avoid harsh criticism of brands, pros, and skateboard culture in general. Enter Vent City, an independent podcast hosted by a panel of #skatetwitter personalities who discuss contemporary skateboarding with wit, irreverence, and a variety of perspectives almost never represented in mainstream skate media. It’s skate talk for grown ups who care about skateboarding and want it to be the best version of itself. I can’t wait to see where they go with this.

pateisenhauerneeds some tech improvementsThis seems important and is something I want to see grow. That said, it needs a little love. It doesn't need to be standard broadcast quality but the mic levels were all over the place, enough to make it hard to listen to. Y'all either need to standardize or someone needs to do some work in post.

nuttynocomplyI loved it!I enjoyed the listen and felt like I learned a lot more about the thing i love most! Thanks and hope you guys keep making more

AlanaMasseyThe Show That's Got Skaters Reading The Industry To FilthYou can tell how much the host and guests of Vent City know and love about skating, from both personal and professional industry experience, by how willing they are to absolutely (pardon the pun) shred some of the most deeply embedded norms and (some named individuals) in the industry that have historically functioned to make skate culture inaccessible, dangerous, and sometimes extremely boring. But an even more marked difference that sets Vent City apart from so much traditional skate media is that they nerd out about technical aspects of skateboarding that are exciting and interesting and in language that shows they are *excited and interested themselves*, shed of much of the pretense and esoteric nonsense lots of skate media has pivoted to in the last several years. This got longer than expected and I need to stop and go look at who is having a meltdown about it on Slap but TL;DR: it was rad.
-
joekaluckiSocial theory meets skateboardingA great listen for both new and seasoned skaters looking for an in-depth look into the intellectual side of skating and skate culture, while also being hilarious.
-
The Alex WhiteSkateboard culture, tricks and newsVent city is the brainchild of pro skater Ryan Lay. Different topics like sponsorship, style, gender politics, tricks and video parts are approached from a really unique perspective disregarded by mainstream media. The podcast feels like an intimate discussion from the smartest peanut gallery in the skate park. Well worth the listen.
