Chip’s podcast is a great listen to help spur progress in your restaurant. He has lots of relatable advice and is realistic with what restaurant life is like. The systems and tools he talks about create a culture of ownership where I don’t work in my business like I used to and now work ON it. The interviews with other restauranteurs and tech companies are thought provoking. Great listen and great ideas!

I am a second generation restaurateur and have really appreciated all the information that Chip provides. Very tactical stuff that’s easy to digest and put in motion in your restaurant. I’ve subscribed to a lot of the software he recommends for our tech stack and am very happy with the results. Crazy how this podcast has opened my eyes and helped me with controlling my prime costs. I used to think a 4% net was acceptable but now I don’t settle for anything under 15% NET PROFIT! Thanks Chip!!

It is amazing how much you will learn from Chips episodes. Other podcasts are more focused on interviewing others and skimming over what it takes to actually operate a successful & profitable restaurant, but Chip really digs deep and serves us solutions.

Kiosk ordering will be the end of restaurants. You do not go out to eat and have to order on your phone like an Applebees. Servers keep the restaurant industry alive. He claims that 80% of restaurants could benefit from losing servers. Serves are the lifeblood of restaurants. We make sure the customers come back and we work hard to make the restaurant industry successful. I have never been so enraged listening to a podcast.

I love how every episode has some tactical information that any business owner can take action on immediately. Every episode is clear, concise and compelling. I’ve owned restaurants for almost 15 years, and I still learn something new every time I listen to an episode!

I was turned onto this podcast by an associate. I come to it as an expert in marketing who’s looking to improve my ability to effectively market a restaurant as a business unit of the brewery I work for. It’s a pretty niche angle and I hadn’t seen anything like this before and so glad I found it. I find Chip’s foundational marketing to be very aligned with my own - zig ziglar, Seth Godin, brand principles etc. and from that foundation he derives interesting insights and actionable strategy. Many podcasts talk about the issues, but Chip spends time on the solutions and that makes all the difference.

There are few categories in which consumers make a “product” selection with the frequency with which we tackle the daily question of “what shall we do for dinner,” and that - along with the reality that it is a category in which many of us want ongoing variety and discovery, rather than loyalty - lays out marketing opportunities and expectations that are unique to this business. Skillful as both a commentator and interviewer, Chip covers a range of both the evergreen (Positioning) and timely (COVID) topics that will benefit anyone with an interest in this fascinating industry.

I’ve listened to many different restaurant podcasts but Chip presents everything is such a well organized manner, offering great advise, homework and wonderful references all in 20 or so minutes. Can’t wait to continue listening and learning!

During this last year, I have been searching for answers about how to deal with Covid and all the changes restaurants have been facing. I spent a lot of time listening to big name consultants like Jon Taffer and Donald Burns. I didn’t find what I was looking for with them. I didn’t find that here either. What I DID find is a very concise and easy to follow guide to building my brand, connecting with my customers, managing my people, recruiting and retaining talent, and planning for the future. Chip also recommends books and other podcasts that are amazingly helpful as well. My brain is so very happy with everything I have been filling it with this summer. Thanks, Chip!
