Ep 151 Sometimes things don’t go the way we planned. Lots of great stuff here but this episode really spoke to me. I use to hike a lot until my knee just got to painful to do descents. I got into bike packing and discovered outdoor vitals. The loftek jacket won me over, then the sleeping bag then the altitude hoody now I am all in getting my whole layering system through outdoor. I ride a drop bar mtb with 2.6” tires and have a dual suspension gravel bike and for my road centric I have a all road gravel bike. So much cross over between ultralight hiking and bike packing. Great stuff guys.

These guys really know their stuff. It’s to the point and extremely educational.

Always a good listen, very informative and entertaining for sure. Their most recent pod cast about Hiking 20 miles a day was loaded with great tips on how to hike further. For the experienced hikers I’m sure there are a few things they can take that will help add a few extra miles onto their daily hike. And for the beginner and intermediate hikers this is loaded with great information. I will be definitely adding some of Outdoor Vitals strategies to go extra miles on my next hike. The idea about eating dinner on the trail, and then hiking into camp is awesome. I can’t decide what I like better, these “Informational” pod casts or the stories of those wicked hiking treks the OV team goes on. Either way I’m always inspired to get out on the trail after listening. Thank you.

My son and I have learned so much fun from this podcast. It has allowed us to feel so much more comfortable and free during our amazing backpacking trips. Thank you for helping us make amazing memories together.

This podcast is very Informative for all aspects of getting outside and the equipment behind it. From the insights on the new products to their overall promotion of the outdoor, this is a company that I really get behind and support.

I enjoy the variety of formats that this podcast offers. Sometimes an interesting interview with an invited guest. Sometimes an entertaining trip report with the OV cast of characters. Sometime digging into the fine details of product design. A cool window into the passion that the OV team has for their product and pastime.

I started following this company because I was interested in the products. At 52 I will probably won’t be trying an ultra or fkt. But, as I have learned more about the OV mission, its business model, hiking philosophies and the work that they put into developing their products the more of a fan I become! Even if you don’t consider yourself an ultralight backpacker the ideas and philosophies that they share will make your time in the outdoors more fun and productive! Great work guys! TM

I love this company as well as the podcast! My favorite content on both the you tube channel and the podcast is trip videos/ podcast! I love seeing and hearing the team members collaborate while testing gear! Y’all truly seem to be like family. I also love the “deep dive” podcast to showcase the OV gear. You can tell that the team is so passionate about the gear y’all are putting out. I am a live ultralight member, and love that I can save and put back money to go buy all the OV gear!!

Outdoor vitals is my favorite, I’ve seen all of their YouTube videos! I’m preparing to hike the uinta Highline trail this summer and they have been super helpful in helping me know how to prepare!

Genuinely helpful information that has helped me get into backpacking. Great mix of gear talk and interesting interviews—I listen to every episode.

This group is awesome, I’ve been an OV member for about a year and the engagement they have with customers&fans is just as much a reason for my loyalty as the quality of their products. The education and practicable advice is really what’s been able to get me out longer and more comfortable in the backcountry. Using the old gear I had but applying the principles they taught made such a difference, magnified as I improved the quality of my personal gear. Thank you all for making it possible for not just me but everyone out there to learn and enjoy the nature we have! Looking forward to improving my fast packing with you!

This is an excellent company that puts out great content and great products. My favorite episodes have been about the Highline Trail. But it doesn't stop there. I love how tougher topics are tackled such as food fatigue, elevation sickness, and layering systems. They also have great interviews with other notable hikers which adds a different perspective on ways that others enjoy the outdoors. Their theme of living ultralight motivates me to be more shape and make the most out of my outdoor experiences. I always look forward to the next episode. And you should too!

Outdoor Vitals has good content if you’re looking to broaden your knowledge base for hiking.

I have learned so much about gear and what goes into the gear to make it perform the way it should which has been amazingly helpful in my backpacking journey. I have learned how to get out into the back country more frequently and more knowledgeable about what my gear can go through which gives me so much confidence. Amazing content!!!

I love the Live Ultralight Podcast. It has been extremely inpirational for me. Thanks to this podcast and the guys from Outdoor Vitals I have finally started to go back outside and enjoy nature again. I have not enjoyed being outside in at least 10 years, but this podcast and Outdoor Vitals changed that for me. I recently went on my first ever backpacking trip with one of my friends and will be going on another this weekend. The wealth of information from the people at Outdoor Vitals shares is immense. I quickly became a Live Ultralight Member and am super glad I did. I have been getting my friends into backpacking and have been sharing the information that this podcast has given me to them as well. I find it funny, because it makes me seem super smart about backpacking and hiking to my friends, which in reality I am just regurgitating what I learned from the people at Outdoor Vitals back to them!

I came upon OV after watching some of Dan Beckers YouTube videos. Since then I’ve been buying their gear and listening and watching any podcast or YouTube videos. I love the guest they have and the information and tips they give. I own pretty much anything they have put out and it has worked great. If you want to learn some great info listen to these guys. I’ve been enjoying this podcast for the past month since discovering it. I have really enjoyed the variety of topics brought up and the guests have been great. Tayson ask’s guests thoughtful questions. There have been occasions when I was thinking, “He should ask…” and then he does. I also have really appreciated the fact that there isn’t foul language like I encounter on many other podcasts. It seems this is rare to find. I also appreciate how they strive to inspire and encourage people to enjoy the “vital outdoors”. The outdoors are certainly vital to me- physically, mentally, emotionally, and even spiritually. This podcast is a nice way to supplement that when I can’t be out there.

Thanks for the ever inspiring and informative podcasts. Great interviews with thoughtful questions and does motivate me to get out there and hike/ asunder in my own way at my own pace.

It’s an interesting podcast that has a little bit of everything, plus. The group behind the scenes provides some insight into the company and it’s values. Informal and informative w/o so much pushing of the company products, letting the items speak for itself. One to watch (and listen) to.

I’ve been listening this podcast from day one. I’ve really been encouraged by all the different amazing interviewees and the gear podcast have been an added bonus. Keep up the good work.

I love this podcast because of the value in brings! Especially while listening to the deep dive podcasts, I learned so much about which textiles are used for what reasons. I actually now look at the products descriptions of everything before I buy it. I will never shop the same way again!

I like that this podcast is a mixture of guest interviews, deep dives into new gear and tips for improving your backpacking. There is always good, helpful information.

We all want to be outdoors in the backcountry all the time but we have to do other stuff too. This is one of my favorite podcasts that allows for at least my mind to escape to the backpacking world when I’m doing things like driving to work, mowing the grass or running. I love the variety of shows from technical deep dives to a report on an outdoor adventure to special guest interviews. Thank you also for all you have taught to help me able to enjoy more of the backcountry more often, more comfortably and more safely.

I’ve followed Outdoor Vitals for awhile now and am happy to see them taking the step towards a podcast. Their mission of getting you on the trail is something that a lot of people need to just push all worries aside and just go do it! Thanks to outdoor vitals I’ve reinvigorated my love for backpacking and the outdoors and will be going on a week long trip to Moab in June!

One of the things I love about the Live Ultralight podcast if giving us a look into what’s coming in the future. Also, on this particular episode, I like to hear the good. Bad, and the ugly they juggled getting it right. I’m hoping this pack because the ultralight standard for section and thru hikers upon release. Great show to follow to inspire you to go hiking, backpacking, camping, anything outside. The best episodes are the ones where they talk through an entire trip the team went on, including the best parts of the trip, and everything that went wrong.

I really enjoy the new gear deep dives. I am always looking to update/replace my first set of backpacking gear and clothes with something better. I like the explanations of why you designed something in a certain way.

Tayson and crew’s interviewing skills are getting better and better. More than that the guests and info are on point. So often I find something more to use or that inspires me. If you have an interest in the outdoors this podcast will bring you info and joy.
