I stumbled upon this podcast and it had been a blessing in disguise. I originally thought I must be in a class by myself with my reading choices. I was almost ashamed to tell others what I was reading until you girls. I’ve read most of the books you talk about and have discovered some new reads thanks to you. Lisa Kleypas is my all time favorite author but you have turned me on to many others. Thanks so much and shout out to fangirls everywhere ❤️

This is one of my fave podcasts - I do a happy dance when a new episode drops. I love the chemistry between Juliette and Jessen - don’t ever stop ladies!

Love Juliet as a writer, she is one of my faves. Unfortunately she doesn’t get a chance to talk. Also Jessen’s takes are superficial, a lot of the times are borderline misogynistic. Also there is not a lot of nuance in her views, almost gives me a ‘not like other girls’ feel.

It’s a great podcast. I love how they talk about the books BUT Jessen is disrespectful to her cohost. She doesn’t let her finish and doesn’t give her space to express her opinion. I hope they revise their dynamic and share audio time respectfully between each other.

I love Jessen and Juliette’s enthusiasm for romance! It’s like having a conversation with your best gal pals about fabulous books. Their analysis of the heroines, heroes, story lines, and writing is so insightful and gets to the heart of each story. Great podcast for readers and writers of romance.

I’ve just started listening and I love their way of talking about romance books and the community. I also love how they stay relevant while also finding older gems to review as well! My only critique is that some episodes it sounds like the microphone is muffled and it can be hard to hear.

I have been an avid romance reader for the past 25 years! I love this podcast so much because it gives me new suggestions for books to read. Jessen and Juliette are so relatable and fun to listen to as well! I listen to an episode almost every day! Love love love!

Usually I enjoy listening but lately you can hear one of them chewing gum during some of their podcasts. Drove me nuts and I had to stop listening 🤦🏻‍♀️

Great podcast! It is so sweet that this author aunt and romance loving niece are doing this podcast together! I love listening but it bugs me when Jessen frequently misuses the word whenever (she says whenever instead of saying when. I think it must just be a southern thing and I’m not used to it not being from the south.) They also describe like the WHOLE book it’s not a summery podcast so honesty be ok to hear basically the whole book when listening! If you wanna read the book do not listen to the podcast before you ready because they thoroughly spoil! They also talk over each other a lot. Their chemistry is cute and they have a good structure which I enjoy. Four stars! Keep going smart women!

This is one of my favorite podcasts I love how much y’all love romance. However, it can be hard to hear what gets said when one host talks over another or you both talk at the same time. Other than that I love it!

I’ve been listening for awhile now and I love the show - especially when you do the historical romances! 😍 My one quibble is just that sometimes you both talk over each other and it’s hard to hear what’s being said. But other than that, it gets an A+ from me! Happy reading!

Love how enthusiastic hosts are about their subject matter, and I like getting to hear about books I may not read. However there are episodes that are nearly unlistenable because the hosts talk over each other and do not let each other make full points. It often interrupts the flow of the conversation and is frustrating to listen to and it’s annoying. One host in particular talks so much over her co-host that it sounds like she can’t hear the other one talking. Editing moments where both are talking at the same time would make the show SO much better.

Title says it all! Great to listen to when the world is what it is, with positive reviews and wonderful books. Love learning about different authors, especially as a newcomer to the romance genre. Would like to continue to see more books outside of the series already covered. Great work! 🥰

Love listening and comparing favorite book boyfriends & tropes! Penny Reid and the whole Smartypants Romance collective brought me back to reading romance after years of taking myself way too seriously. Gotta say - if you haven’t yet read Staci Hart you need to get on that. She’s grown up rom-com with a healthy dose of tattoos, literary references, and tons of series/character crossovers. LOTS of book boyfriends and HEAs.

I’ve only listened to a few but I love it!! You have to read Kristen Ashley!!

Smart Women Read Romance is my favorite pod cast for romance books!!

This is very fun and entertaining to listen to. I’ve only listened to a handful so far and I love the books reviewed. I do wish that one gal doesn’t talk over the other one so much, it can make it hard to listen to when they are talking over each other, interrupting, and talking louder or more energetic than the other. It can be a bit chaotic, and hard to listen to. And I feel bad that the one gal doesn’t get as much time to talk.

I found Smart Women Read Romance when I was on one of my hunts for new romance book pods to listen to and I quickly became a fan! I love how excited Jessen and Juliette always are when they talk about the books they’ve chosen for the week. You can tell how much they love the book because of the enthusiasm they bring. They never fail to make me fangirl right along with them and I leave each episode feeling so warm and good! This is such a wonderful podcast with even more amazing hosts and if you want a podcast that will make you feel good, you should without a doubt check this one out — plus their intro/outro music is seriously the best!

This is seriously one of my favorite podcasts! It really feels like a couple of friends chatting and gushing about books and I am SO here for it! The girls are also hilarious and just the perfect escape to listen to.

I love this podcast! It deserves a ton more love than it gets! Its so insightful, but funny at the same time. After I’m done listening I go out and buy the book they talk about. For me personally, I like to know a little about certain books before I buy them, and they do it so effortlessly and honestly spoiler free (kinda). Like of course they talk about the books, but that’s what I love about it and what makes me read them if I haven’t. So, I just enjoy listening to their podcast! They make me feel so good, and it’s literally like on my Self-Care routine! That’s how much of a great time it is!

Love these fun chats between friends about books they love! It's funny, where I'm from "whenever" means anytime, not a specific time... Took me a few episodes to get used to southern speak lol! But it was worth the confusion to enjoy the fun!!!

My problem with romance book podcast is that I got the impression that most of them don’t really like the romance genre. They get very negative and nitpicky on common conventions/tropes of romance which kind of take the joy out of reading romance. However, Juliette and Jensen clealry loves romance, and you can hear the joy in the voices when discussing these books. And I love the fact they both decided to do only books they love (there’sa lot of negativity already, you don’t need anymore). Keep up the good work.

Finally! A podcast made for women who aren’t afraid to say that they love a good romance novel. As a corporate professional and a mom, sometimes I am judged when I tell others that romance is my favorite genre. It’s great that we have these two wonderful ladies reviewing books that we love while creating a fun podcasts that is entertaining and that also can help ignite the “fan-girl” in all of us. With all the hustle and bustle of the work day and crazy chaos of life, life is truly better with a little HEA!
