K-FroThat “what it feels like to listen to podcasts” memeI’ve been re-visiting the books and I honestly didn’t know what a void there was in my life before I started listening. A Sandor Clegane Community shaped void. I’m not sure I know another podcast that is this thoughtful while also being this fun. I love a deep-dive podcast but this is the first one that has me pausing to send people quotes and tell them to listen. Also, and there’s no universal system of measurement for this but the tangents and pop culture and literature references are just the right amount for me. It’s kind of bleak right now and this is just bringing me such joy to listen to. The hosts go SO deep without getting pedantic. Great pod. Five stars. Sandor is Baby.

BelwasDeservedBetterThe Best AroundI have been a day one listener of the finest ASOIAF podcast in all the land. Girls Gone Canon is the perfect blend of serious analysis and whimsy. The hosts have great chemistry together and have only gotten better and funnier over the years. The unique approach of following the different POV characters is a great way to get in depth character analysis and explore the many themes present in the collected works of George R. R. Martin. I probably should have written this review a long time ago but they made me wait six years to get to Cersei so now we’re even.

eachampionLMAOingI just started listening to this cast after listening to all of the episodes of NotACast and I am in love. I just got to where season 8 of the bad show started. I cannot help myself and I laugh constantly to myself while listening at work and everyone thinks I’m crazy but YOLO. Thanks for very entertaining and thoughtful commentary.
-
Silverwing Flyerlong time listenerfun podcast. appreciate the so very sullied asoiaf. especially loved the coverage phillip pullman books that they also did.

more american than your momACOK Bran VThanks for all the hours of your podcast, it’s pretty great. You two are an amazing, funny, and dorky in all the best ways. I’m sorry to inform you but I do not have 8k a month to pay you to stop, so I guess I will just have to keep on listening. Sincerely yours, Jake

JaimieMSA cure for your HOTD woesDo you experience foreboding joy? Are you already carrying a Vhagar-sized hole in your heart in anticipation of the HOTD finale? If the answer is yes, Girls Gone Canon can help fill the void (with CGI blood perhaps?). I first heard these intelligent ladies on the History of Westeros podcasts (another gem) and knew I had to check them out. I discovered YEARS of episodes that go through ASOIAF by character POV. I’ve only gotten through Ned (😭), but I’m completely hooked. Their in-depth knowledge of ASOIAF, classical literature, and even the Bible bring new color and perspective to a familiar story. I’ve had many revelations listening to their pod and I love the way they make me appreciate these books even more. I’m sad I didn’t discover them earlier, but I’m also so happy to binge their episodes to my heart’s content. Thank you Girls Gone Canon!

M878MWhat happened to your audio?Did you guys have a problem with your audio? The last couple of episodes sound like they were recorded in a tin can. Love the content can’t stand to listen because it sounds so bad on my headphones, please fix.
-
Miss SusiThank you so much girlsYou’re the best podcast for spoilers. I read everything too. I’m so happy that you’re not unsullied as some of the new podcasts. Love you so much, Sursi Seastar.
-
Genna KleinGreat GOT and now HOTD podcast!Knowledgable and interesting discussions about all the wonderful nerdy things! I joined for the House of the Dragon discussions and so far do not disappoint!
-
KavaldenGGC knows their GoTI have enjoyed listening to this podcast because they go in-depth when it comes to George RR Martin's work with the books, especially since they discuss more than what the show provided. Plus the humor is also great as well.
-
Badt56GGG one of the Best!!!Lots of ASOIAF podcasts out there but Girls Gone Canon continues to prove they belong among the best of the best!!
-
AjuetsherenowLove this podcast….except for oneee thingReally excellent podcast, great banter and analysis. Mostly writing a review so that I could share my one petty grievance… NOT EVERY CHARACTER IS PROJECTING ALL THE TIME. A great drinking game for this podcast would be to take a sip every time Chloe or Eliana (mostly Chloe tbh) says that a character is projecting. Especially in the Jaime episodes. Even if he is, I’m just sick of hearing it. Okay rant over! This is a 5-star podcast all day long, keep up the great work ladies.
-
MissJennaVoThe best to dateI’m very late to the party BUT what a thoughtful, insightful podcast dedicated to one of my favorite book series. Like many people, I only found ASOIAF after watching season 1 of GOT and I devoured it. After 10 years, I started a reread and have been listening to these ladies in conjunction. Their hot takes and insightful coverage brings many things to light that I might have otherwise missed. Also, Chloe’s Jon is AMAZING so that other reviewer can stuff it.
-
gracielizjacksSo good.Amidst a fandom of dedicated content creators with some really great podcasts, this one is absolutely my favorite. Chloe and Eliana are hilarious and so insightful. The pacing and their dynamic together make every minute entertaining in some relatively long episodes. Thank you ladies for adding joy to my life every week!
-
mike13128Great podcastAbsolutely love that one of these girls drops F bombs like no other.
-
hotterpotterwow!!Found my way here recently after Chloe did a guest appearance over at History of Westeros. Love your humor and your analysis of the women in ASOIAF. All your hot takes are canon as far as I’m concerned. (For your stats purposes, I hit subscribe as soon as Eliana started singing about skimbleshanks/steelshanks, so I’m pretty sure that more Cats references is a sure win.) UPDATE: I can’t believe I’ve finished your whole thing. I love you both so much and you have my support (both emotional and monetary). Shakespeare, Greek stuff, cooking, Hamilton, Sailor Moon. Is there anything you don’t know?? I’m continually impressed. I thought Davos or Sansa or Jaime would be my fave takes (bc they’re my faves) but your new Catelyn stuff is blowing me away. Sending you all my love, & thanks for the knowledge and the joy you bring us. PS. Chloe, your Jon Snow voice is to die for, and I will fight anyone for you, just lmk
-
SigleyTPSuper fun and thoughtfulThis is a superb ASOIAF re-read podcast. The episodes follow one POV character through the whole of their chapters. I love listening to these two and their occasional guests. I enjoy the female perspective I get on the characters and their world. Reading ASOIAF through a more feminist lens is definitely an exercise in broadening perspectives, which I appreciate. Chloe and Eliana do a great job of weaving literary analysis, allusions to other works, humor, plot summary (largely in the form of delightful Lightning Rounds), and some predictions of what's to come in the last books. It's a weekly treat to have them in my podcast feed.
-
Sweet MelisiaLove it!I love this podcast and am one of their patrons on Patreon. They are one of the best sources for ASOIAF content. Chloe doing Jon Snow is PODCAST GOLD!!!!
-
lmnip25Enjoying the Character POV ReReadI’m really glad to hear more woman’s voices in the fandom. I enjoy their perspective. This re-read helps you see how a character changes throughout the events of the books.

pentoshicheeseGreat PodcastSimilar to NotaCast but actually fun

wales listenerWow!I have consumed an embarrassing number of ASOIAF podcasts—I initially stumbled across this because of their amazing coverage of His Dark Materials. I’ve read those books over and over again since I was a kid, but they manage to breathe this incredible new life into them. I feel almost like I’m getting to feel what it was like to read them for the first time. Thank you so much for what you do! This podcast is a treasure.
-
abbylinn.rPerfect mix of insight and entertainment! These ladies are the best! This is easily the strongest ASOIAF podcast out there. The hosts have great chemistry together, and they strike the perfect balance between providing some really thoughtful insights and keeping the tone light, hilarious, and fast-paced. Most importantly to me, they give the women of the story the focus and attention they deserve. If you’re a Sansa fan wearily wading through podcast after podcast of bros extolling the virtues of Stannis, you have FINALLY found safe harbor. Love their analysis so much! Every episode is a joy.
-
M.MakoThe Jon voice is the worst.Always informed, usually silly, sometimes too silly. I did not sign up for His Dark Materials, but since I am subscribed, I delete them, perhaps if I had HBO. Maybe someday. But the bad Kit Harington voice is so distracting, that I cannot always hear what is being said. It is like a drunk in an Irish pub speaking while eating a Shepard’s pie. I can see the mash fly through the air while the words are coughed out. I really cannot wait for Jon to be killed, so the voices stop. Hey, Jon has been dead for a while. I can’t recall cringing recently.
-
Disgruntled Customer 68482Entertaining, insightful, and sharp!Love listening to the hosts give their hot takes. Great job! Incredibly smart, funny, and appreciate the audio quality. I can tell a lot of time goes into putting these together. This is the content we want!
-
adwnpinoyFive stars (after some math)Entertaining and insightful, up there with Radio Westeros as one of my two favorite ASoIaF podcasts. Minus one star for their Barristan Selmy hot take; plus one star for the Jon Snow impression.
-
WoooooooooopieSmart, fun and all the good thingsLove me some Girls Gone Canon. I love tuning it to listen other women killing it in the ASOIF community. Their analysis is insightful and adds a much needed female voice to some areas where it’s sometimes lacking. They’re keeping my love for ASOIF alive while we wait for TWOW coming out next week? AND rekindled my love for the dark materials text, win- win. Thanks girls for making me laugh and think and grow? in my literary loves. Did I mention my love for your question inflection? Also, the Jon voice is amazing and never ever change.

pirat_katrRenewing my <3 for asoiafOk so when I realized they were doing Jon Snow I was like ew he’s so annoying and boring ugh but then by the end I remembered how he was actually a good character in the books unlike his slack jawed idiot show counterpart. The show has soured my love for the books so much that I can’t remember how they were even good and this podcast is very good at remedying that. Maybe I’ll even do a reread before TWOW’s release next weekend! Keep on going and for the love of Rhollor don’t think you need to be diplomatic about not liking the show it is so bad it has been since like season 3 see: turtlepaced on tumblr <3

candid59My favorite His Dark Materials podcastDiscovered them whilst looking for podcasts that covered the His Dark Materials show. Just love that not only are they super insightful (but also critical to a fair extent), they're also funny. Totally can see myself vibing with them in real life. Just finished listening to their coverage of the books as well. Can't wait for them to cover more His Dark Materials stuff. Have truly deepened my love and knowledge of the books! Keep up the great work ladies! <3

Jimimac42⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️There prolific podcasters guide readers through a deeper understanding of not only Martin’s Westeros, but the art of our own world, past and present. Each episode includes the hosts navigating through a “A Song of Ice and Fire” point-of-view as if you were in a book club with them. Listeners can discover and theorize, but also must be prepared to laugh until you cry or cry until you laugh. This podcast is filled to the brim with punny pus, vintage voice-acting and classic catch phrases. Most importantly, there are Fievel references.

dalyce the unbustedA reviewIm pretty sure I accidentally left a Notacast review on the Girls Gone Canon podcast, epic fail; what kind of millennial am I? That has to be some kind of treason. Anyway, this podcast is a Gem and Chloe and Eliana are the coolest nerds I wish I could have been friends with in high school. Life has happened on a few occasions so I’m currently in the process of binging the Jon episodes as well as the HDM episodes, but nothing is more relaxing or entertaining than listening to these ladies gush about the books that have become a part of me, while going on random tangents that call back to my own journey as a nerd child/ lover of books (ummm Neopets And fairy paint brushes). As for the podcast itself, these ladies have puns, they have meta, they character insight, they do real thematic work, and both have written treatises that have lives of their own. I am honored to be a part of a fandom that has content creators like these two and you should listen, contribute to their Patreon, get on Twitter, all of the things
-
SMKuldellMore people should listen to thisAt first, I was put off by the name of this podcast--this is either going to be Very explicit, or very very knowledgable. Thankfully, it is the latter. I love that I can listen to a podcast which has a fresh perspective and points out SO many things I had never realized (i.e. Jeyne Poole in sex slavery), and this is nowhere near my first GOT podcast. The girls speak like my friends and I do (woo millennials) and I find it very easy to learn from while also laughing at so many things. I'm captivated every episode and I anxiously await the next one. Now if only I could rationalize a $5/month patreon commitment I could listen to all those TWOW episodes. My only comlaint. PLEASE get better microphones. I will join Patreon if you get new mics. It hurts my ears some times... Keep up the amazing work, ladies!! 5 stars for sure. <3
-
GraaavyStill learning!I’m on a third re-read and the way you chose to work through the books by character arc has revealed even more about GRRM’s world than I have picked up on before. Thanks!!
-
PirateDieselFinnLove my ladies!I’m loving listening to this reread and the different approach they’ve taken. I’m currently re-listening to Sansa chapters because of my nostalgia for being a tween girl and all the drama of those volatile emotions. Also I can’t sit down and read for long stretches anymore on account of my 3 year old not allowing quiet contemplation and literary analysis. So this podcast is my life line to reading and feeling like I’m included in in-depth conversations about it. Also: my poor baby paralarvae!

moooooooooossseeeI like this podcastI listen lots and the girls are fun and good

420NedStark69DragonKiller666I laughed, I cried, I left the stove on!Girls Gone Canon is a truly excellent podcast. I started listening after hearing one (or both) of the hosts featured on History of Westeros. (I don't know if it was Chloe or Eliana. It was a crazy summer. Lots of crying.) Anyhoozle! Chloe and Eliana are hysterical. They provide valuable insight into the most important characters of this fandom, like Strong Belwas and Gerris Drinkwater, and their chapter-by-chapter analysis for each character brings new life to the books based on the smash HBO television series. 5 Darkstars out of 5.
-
KittyknightSo great!I wanted to reread via POV and did an OCD sticky note division in the books but I didn't know where to start (I mean, who wants to start with Bran?) so this podcast is wonderful! So funny and insightful - I was almost wetting my pants listening to poor Quentin's fiasco Dragon "Tamer" episode. "Dog." I'm up to Sansa 7 in ACoK and have thouroughly enjoyed it. I listened to Davos' Fingers which I love, but was so sad when Brook left because girls just get it. Now I have two Brooks!

Missliss258Love y’all but wish you guys hadn’t reviewed the showLet me start by saying I love the POV by POV style of the podcast and REALLY enjoy your chapter analysis. That said, I wish you guys had never started doing the show reviews. Your dislike for the adaptation now that they’re past the books is audible and makes for an irritating listen. Specific examples bran saying his wheelchair was designed by a Targaryen for a crippled nephew and Chloe having a fit because that’s not book canon. Or saying, “I don’t mean to bash the show” and then spending the next ten minutes saying D&D basically don’t know what they’re doing. Again, love y’all but I think you’re a little too close to the book material for a balanced assessment of the tv show because it’s not the books you hold so dear. I’ll probably be skipping the show reviews for the next two weeks but I’ll be here with bells on for the book podcasts.
-
Suzy BunnyFun, smart, awesome female perspectives! It can’t be denied that (most/many) women readers connect to the ASOIF and GOT world in a bit of a different way than men. I love your perspectives, they are a subtle and refreshingly differ than many but equally great male commentary.

DaniRickard09This podcast is “so fetch”I was inspired to write a five star review after hearing only three POVs (these fair maidens actually have italics in their voices) and I plan to listen for the forty-nine years that it will take them to complete the rest. I have always been a groupie of Cliff and his Notes - and these two ladies are taking the ASOIAF insight to an extreme. My mind is blown each episode. Their dedication to, passion for, understanding of and respect for this story and it’s author is beyond astounding. They are also hilarious; their references and comparisons to modern pop culture and their own lives and experiences are so fun! And of course, the alternate ASOIAF universe they dream up is such an intrigue. So, if you are interested in: abundant amounts of powdered sugar sprinkled in to purple kush and rolled in Weirwood leaves, Brittney Spears dancing with albino Burmese pythons, Snow White and the Huntsman, creepy acoustic guitar playing dorm guys, food porn, Cinderella and the Glass Slipper, MTV Cribs, Greek Mythology, “Da Dip" by Freak Nasty circa 1996 or The Great British Baking Show - then this is the podcast for you. If you are pro-bacon, have ten jobs, love grandpa’s shenanigans, totally heart fashion and ship SanSan - then this castle is open for business and you may enter - for free or for a nominal fee via Patreon, where you will be awarded with additional knowledge bombs, art work and special merch.
-
Caprica 6Smart takes on ASOIAFChloe and Eliana provide great insights through engaging discussions. Their discussions are smart, deep, and also often funny. Thoroughly enjoyable.

College co-edMy heroesWow - this is EXACTLY the podcast that an ASOIAF fan like me hoped for. I am primarily a show fan, I gave the books a try because I wanted to know everything and anything about this story. I read GOT, AFFC and ADWD off and on and struggled because to be honest...these books are a bit above my reading level. I just had a very hard time paying attention, keeping track of all the information and finishing the books. In come Girls Gone Canon to the rescue - THANK YOU! They have such intelligent and fascinating interpretations of the story and do an excellent job finding all the parallels from POV to POV. I hate that they are essentially doing all my heavy lifting for me but I also love it because they do it better than I ever could. Looking forward to many more episodes in the future.

Laboziac6364Laugh on, Little Doves...First of all, absolutely love what you girls have going on here. Jet fuel for my debilitating obsession/addiction to all things Asoiaf. The extent of your knowledge on not only the subject matter, but also with the finer points of literature as a whole, leaves me feeling both refreshed and enlightened after each episode. Layer that with a great sense of humor and a unique take on whatever the topic may be and you’ve got yourself a five star show, every time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I found y’all starting with Maester Monthly, which I also follow regularly. One of my favorite day(s) of the month is when I get that little pop-up on my phone letting me know you’ve released a new episode. 🎉🎊It’s gonna be a good day and work might actually be bearable 😬 But to be completely honest, the one thing that keeps me coming back is Eliana’s (sp?) laugh. So freaking contagious, I love it. I’m guaranteed that sore smile face after each episode. So thank you Miss Chloe and Miss Eliana for all that you do, and keep up the good work! - J.Brian B. AimeenewswangerSo fun!I love, love, LOVE these girls! I enjoyed the books when I read them but knew I was only skimming the surface. These ladies unpack the depths in an easy listening fashion using Harry Potter and Parks and Recs references that speak to all areas of my literary/TV loving heart. Keep up the great work ladies - you seriously rock!
-
Tarth4EverGreat podcastThank you!
-
omgbearssSo smart, so sillyThis is a great listen guys, i look forward to it every week. I listen to more asoiaf podcasts now than actually reading the books—because you guys do such a good job of context! Connections! History! You know, all the stuff I’d miss rereading aloneee

Manu (ManuclearBomb)FRIIEEEENDDDDSSSSSSSSCHLOE! ELIANA! Manu Latecomer has arrived, after finally catching up, and the Hour of the iTunes Reviewer is upon us. I could boast forever about how your insight moves me and humor tickles me, and (at the risk of being reductive) how necessary it is to have a podcast hosted by rad LADIES in a fandom that is so wonderfully diverse but not always represented that way in the podcasting world (says a man who is half of an all-male GoT podcast himself). Your explanation of menstrual pains as the butt-end of a screwdriver twisting into ovaries was not only painfully vivid, but just a sample of what perspectives we don’t get enough of. But it’d be foul of me to limit the scope or impact of your scholarship to just that. As someone who prays at the altar of the (social justice) Warrior, your episodes on Barristan were particularly illuminating. Discussion of how he refuses to adapt Meereenese verbiage and uses “Your Grace” propelled me into a settler-colonialist understanding of the themes in his chapters, made even more apparently by the old white man-ness of it all. That new reading has stuck in my mind ever since, a chapter I’d previously read a dozen times and heard dissected a dozen more. This is just a long and tedious way to say, yall are smart, yall are funny, y’all are beautiful and y’all are making me love the things I love that much more. I’ve very much enjoyed the last several years chatting on twitter (or gossiping in the DMs), but it feels extra special to bring you guys into my home and brain every week now. xoxoxoxo Manu
-
SaltySamuraiThe best ASOIAF pod to get high to.ASOIAF is, at it's core, about the characters, and so is this podcast. Chloe and Eliana have the talent to pick apart ASOIAF theory in a coherent, thoughful way without having to be total nerds about it. They have the correct takes on all of the characters, so if your journey through the fandom has left you confused as to who deserves praise and who should be mercilessly an repeatedly dunked on, then this is the podcast for you.
-
DrinkinprettyMy favorite thing everI love Girls Gone Canon! They provide insight analysis of each character, amazing catch phrases, and fun banter. My boyfriend has literally had to come check on me because I was laughing so hard in the other room. Give them a listen!
