Rebecca RubensteinFascinating Podcast, from a Parent’s PerspectiveI’ve been reading Jeff Selingo’s books since my older son was in middle school. Jeff has helped educate me on the application process as well as the general landscape and challenges of Higher Education. His Future U podcast has been a great way to keep my finger on the pulse of this industry, a topic that continues to fascinate me. As my younger son is now in the undergrad application process, and my older son is applying to grad school, this podcast is so interesting and informative to me. The graduate school episode (Feb 2024) was particularly eye-opening and clarified so many realities. I very much appreciate all the research, insight and reflections this podcast offers!

Scott from MinnesotaWhat it all meansI’m a trustee at a college and find this podcast fascinating as a citizen and incredibly useful as a trustee. Rather than just tell me stories like other higher ed podcasts or just tell me what’s happening in the news, it brings the experts to the table in insightful interviews. Most of all appreciate Michael and Jeff’s take on things. I don’t always agree, but Michael is able to bring a framework to help us think about an issue, and Jeff is just incredibly sourced so you’re always hearing connections he makes between trends. Keep up the good work.

The Vampire Squid ChroniclesGreat PodcastWelcome back! Always enjoy the podcast while quite disenchanted with the ossified debacle that is Higher Ed in the US. Is an antiquated “4 year residential experience” really worth a roughly 300k pretax (or 600k+ post tax) “investment” per child? Are colleges public goods to serve the public interest or are they simply hedge fund arms of a select, few cadre of elite institutions? Are they places to train professional or Olympian athletes in lesser sports? We have gone far astray from the purpose of college as institutions of higher education affordable to all. Given few signs of innovation and cost controls, the future looks bleak.

RKS1967My “Go To” resource for all things Higher EdMichael and Jeff have excellent knowledge, depth and reach in higher-Ed and is a must listen to resource for anyone interested in the future of education. They are particularly adept at identifying trends in Ed-Tech. Their pivot during Covid-19 has been highly useful. As a College of Charleston Foundation Board Treasurer, I find myself sharing almost every episode with my fellow board members and executive staff. The podcast informs us in particular about the issues and challenges of our supported organization vastly improving our ability to communicate and collaborate.

Collegiate EmpowermentA Must Listen For Future Focused HigherEd Pros!If you’re a College President, Trustee, University Exec, and/or a Future Focused Higher Ed Professional, this show is for you! Turn down the noise and tune into the wisdom of these two seasoned, yet ambitious Higher Ed thought leaders. Both Micheal & Jeff have “been there and done that”, yet bring a fresh & innovative Gen X lens to the tough challenges facing Us in Higher Ed today. As the dawn of American Higher Ed transitions into the sunrise of 21st century, Higher Ed leaders will be both wise and grateful for this show and the Great Work being done here.

KDM047Great Content, Needs Better DeliveryI want to give this podcast five stars, because Michael and Jeff have great guests and I appreciate the succinct length of each show. However, the amount of “ums” and “ahs” from the hosts is so distracting! It definitely impacts the delivery. Consider investing in a voice/speech coach to really take this show to the next level.

CommuteTimeAmazing content! As part of a couple who both work in higher ed, I love listening, learning, and sharing this podcast with others. The content of each episode is incredible with real and thought provoking interviews. My only wish is that the episodes were longer or more easily processed. The information is so deep and meaningful I find myself listening a second time or forgetting things I wished I remembered. But keep it up! These are the starts (or continuations) of important discussions for the future of higher education.

AlexJoiJouThought provoking and realAs someone who works in highered, this is the type of podcast we need. There are some realities we have to face, and things we must do. Love to have more on contemporary learners as they are now majority but system still thinks every college student is 18. Also transfer tragedy, loss of credit, limited app of military credits, etc. Please keep this going!!

EMUswoop17Great interviews! As a higher ed pro, this is a great podcast to continue to learn and discover new approaches to my unit an beyond. I wish the interviews were a bit longer. But they are with experts so it’s concise but valuable.

Thank U for Future UThank U for Future UI find this podcast to be smart, engaging and informative. I'm learning so much about the business of higher education and innovation in the field.

RinermoGreat content! The content is great and I would have rated this podcast 5 stars, but these two need to talk less about themselves! Do they really have to list every role they play in the intro? How about just the top two? They are a little enamored of themselves. It detracts from the content, which is great and important.

J J WatKeep it coming!Great content with focus on current issues in higher education. Enjoyed the conversation with Northeastern president. Keep it coming!
