pandadrawsIncredible improv and storytellingThe ending of the Crowe Boys’ story absolutely gutted me and I’m actually putting off listening to Terminus because I’m not ready to be so emotionally attached to these new characters yet lol. I also love how much collaborative storytelling you guys do, it’s not just the GM deciding the world and circumstances around them, the players get to make things fun and interesting too and you get some pretty awesome moments bc of that. Taking notes for my game!

TallsquallStill a “go-to” favorite!Even years after first releasing revisiting the Crowe boys and listing to there story is my favorite way to spend a long drive or trip. Thank you for all the excellent content!

ErcMan013An Amazing Tale of Family and DangerSounds Like Crowes is just what I’ve been looking for. Growing up in the south and being Native American, was be always loved westerns but have a problem finding ones that don’t make me feel gross. This show has given me that long childhood long dream of a western where it’s okay to be Indian. These show follows five rough and tumble brothers as they try and find their ma’s killer for revenge, but it becomes so much more than a revenge story. From duels in the streets to unimaginable horrors crawling along the dark walls of caverns, this show has everything a western fighting back against the dark needs.

VoidWyvernkinAP podcast- best Western podcast/original storyI’m currently on season 3 episode 17 and it’s been a ride and look forward to more content. Game Master Caleb has a whole slew of NPCs, situations a massive grasp on the Savage World rule sets. The staring players all bring unique and interesting characters to the show in the form of the Crowe brothers. Each one flawed in their own way. Found this podcast after wanting to run my own Deadlands games so I figured I’d listen to one to get an idea. Absolutely love Caleb and how he developed his show and sheer amount of time he puts into editing the show. If your looking for an actual play cast with great story, amazing editing and splendid players/ characters than Sounds Like Crowes is the show for you. Definitely a more modern interpretation of the West and what it means to be in the 1870s.

IasonemOne of the bestTop-notch storytelling and RPGing while explaining game mechanics. A truly tough trifecta! Well done.

Nick.RobertsonA western adventure with a spooky twistThe cast and GM for this actual play podcast really click. The editing is top notch, and the music sets the perfect mood every time. I love that the story is a bit on the more serious side, but the players still feel comfortable cracking jokes. A well balanced drama with an awesome setting. Easily one of my very favorite APs. Check it out!

Sam Wich PGHBest podcast I found in yearsAlmost since I started listening to actual plays I’ve been searching for one for Deadlands. That search is unequivocally over now that I found Sounds Like Crowes. They came out of the gate with high quality audio, strong story hooks, and amazing character work. Each character seems like they are fully alive, there’s no pause when a question comes up about their backstory or their personality. If you’re looking for a new actual play podcast, you can’t go wrong here.

NeatMrPeteExactly what I’ve been looking forI’ve listened to a bunch of actual play podcasts, and my biggest gripe has always been that they lean a little too far into the comedy side - which is understandable since they tend to be improv groups. I’m only on episode 2 of this podcast and I can tell that it balances plot/character progression with comedy perfectly!

Abhorsem2012Great showCame here after catching up with critical role, and after several disappointing other AP podcasts I was blown away by this show. The cinematic descriptions by Caleb help me picture each scene and I love each of the boys. The story keeps me wanting more every time. The characters have depth and I love seeing each of the Crowe boys grow. I’m only in the middle of season two right now but I’m truly loving this journey.

AlexandriaGCWhat’s Not to Love? The show starts like an old western, incorporates the perfect amount of horror and laughs, makes for the perfect story to immures yourself in. An easily binged show with lots of twists and turns that are unsuspected- you are not going to be disappointed.

KatowispGreat live play podcast —must listenI have never played Deadlands but love Westerns. This was recommended to me as a series of podcasts I should check out and the concept of a horror weird west interested me. This is an exceptional podcast—the voice acting and sound production are great, the story is super interesting, and all the players clearly have a ton of experience. More importantly, they have great rapport. I love listening to these guys. If you love live play , radio shows, stories, or just a fan of good stories, you have to check this podcast out. It’s a shame this hasn’t gotten more love.

Grumpy Ol DocBest Deadlands PodcastAbsolutely one of the best RPG podcasts out there. Great at hitting all the right notes- horror, comedy, action, tragedy. The players are amazing and Caleb is an amazing GM. Highly highly recommend.

~JeniTalent & LuckI am in complete love with this podcast in every way! A group of talented people who got together & have fun creating a world full of ideas & characters to love & love to hate! I’m new to the Deadlands rpg podcasts & this would be a movie or tv series I could not get enough of either! Anything, any of these boys touch is bound to be pure gold genius! A great adventure fraught with peril, full of heart & plenty of laughter! My kind of experience 🦋

Baron Von BillGreat Show!Listened to the pilot this weekend and was hooked immediately. Ten episodes in I figure it’s time for a review. Normally I have to remind myself that most podcasts start out rough and the crew figures it out a few episodes in, but this is not the case for Sounds like Crows. The show starts off strong and only gets betters. The audio quality is great from episode one. They have that wonderful dice rolling sound in the background and do a painting an image for the listener. I just discovered Deadlands as I discovered this podcast, so I can’t wait to dive into the rules to better understand this setting and system. I highly recommend this podcast and cannot wait to listen to the rest of it.

Spiff difflerThis show is fantastic. The characters are rich and well developedI enjoy this show very much. It has supplanted my normal media consumption. I am terrified for when I catch up to the weekly releases! It really captures deadlands and you can tell this group has been gaming together for a long time. I really enjoy it.

"Savage Bull" LandauerThe gold standard of RPG podcastsIt all really came together with this audio drama. A gripping story and well acted characters (Isaac as the brutally determined Abel Crow, Marshall as the tortured Thaddeus, Alex as the family man Ellis, Camron as the flamboyant Harper, and Cameron as Crowe-by-Choice "Lucky") work well with the randomness of the die roll and the draw of the card. Caleb runs a tight ship and edits this actual play with a solid hand, creating something much more akin to a radio drama of old than what most people cultivate with an "actual play" RPG session, where your brain tells you you're a character in the room with friends playing an RPG. With SLC, your brain tells you you're in a gritty Western film. It's immersive, it's compelling, and it just gets better.

djdownwardOutstanding Podcast! This is one of my main 2 tabletop gaming podcasts that I listen to and the best Deadlands podcast I have found after some exhaustive research. I can not get enough of this podcast and the way these boys put on a show. It’s like watching little clips of a movie every episode and every one leaves me wanting more. I learned much of what I know about Deadlands thanks to this podcast. If you are looking to get into this game or just like hearing how some seasoned veterans handle their gaming experience. This podcast is for you.
-
ThePrimesauceWhy are you not already listening?Seriously, you should have started listening already. This podcast is better than whatever it is you're listening to right now.
-
YouSeeTheHatThe Crowe Boys are at it againThis has quickly become one of my favorite podcasts, the cast of friends as the player characters were so convincing I was genuinely surprised to find out they weren't actually brothers. If you're craving some well produced, cinematic Weird West programming, this is the show for you!
-
Dr. BlackhatOne of the best actual plays out there!Mix awesome long-form story telling, great table chemistry, and top audio quality and you get Sounds Like Crowes! This is one of the best actual plays out there and if you are a fan of Deadlands you definitely can’t afford to miss this one!
-
Zutros3000One of the best Actual Play podcasts out there!!I was in search of a Deadlands AP podcast, and SLC delivers in spades (and hearts, clubs, and diamonds)! Great production, fantastic camraderie between the players, a fantastic mix of serious, gripping storytelling with actual laugh out loud moments. The audio quality is second to none, which is hard to find in most AP podcasts. Even if you're not into Deadlands or the Savage Worlds system, this podcast is a must listen (and if it peaks your interest in playing the setting/system, like it did me, bonus!).
-
GesselthonGreat stories, excellent qualityAs others have noted, the technical aspects are very good - excellent sound quality, well edited, and so forth. The stories are terrific. The main characters are well acted, with good voice work. I started listening to this podcast in a rotation, one episode here and there among several others. By the second half of season 1, it was the only podcast in my queue and I burned all the way through the end of season two. Now it's the reason I look forward to Mondays. If you think you might like westerns, horror, morally grey heroes, and the right amount of humor, give this one a shot.

LordMomo300A Must Listen For All!Sounds Like Crowes is a high quality Let’s Play that immerses you in an alternate world of cowboys, dust, demons, and hot lead. It’s an easy listen for anyone, even those not familiar with Deadlands or Savage worlds. The rules are enforced but not a focal point. The story telling and acting is fantastic. You’ll be gritting your teeth after every die roll in this high stakes, lethal, cowboy adventure!
-
TotalJediHIgh quality storytelling with memorable charactersSounds Like Crowes is the first "gaming" podcast that I have come across to edit their game into a compelling storyline. I cannot wait for the next week to come out so I can find out what happens! Thanks for making such a great product guys. Keep up the wonderful work! And with all that out of the way... welcome back to the Weird West!
-
RvrpodcastAn awesome Deadlands APThey'll make you laugh! They'll make you cry! Sounds like Crowes is an excellent Savage Worlds Actual Play that prioritizes story telling above all else.
-
IfThenAndersonExceptionalA good podcast in that the sound quality and editing are well above average. The theme music is perfection. A great podcast because the PCs and NPCs are all complex, interesting characters. They have unique voices, are well-acted, and feel very genuine. The story is engaging and well-paced, with enough description to stir the imagination but not so much that the details become tedious. A phenomenal podcast because of the relationships built between the characters. The family dynamic is one of the best representations of sibling relationships I’ve ever come across. There is a shared vision of the family as a whole, but then the brothers all have their own unique relationships with each other as well. It is a glorious example of dysfunction made functional through sheer force of will and loyalty. Sometimes hilarious, other times heartbreaking.

Dungeons_n_DumbellsAn incredible Actual PlaySounds Like Crowes is one of the best AP’s on the market. The show is an incredible example of what Character interaction should be like in AP’s. Five estranged brothers who have varying relationships with each other are forced together to work towards a common goal. They grow and change as the show progresses, reacting to the horror and trauma they face season to season. 10/10 would recommend

@rpgjediYou MUST listen, I will make you!I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for an Actual Play I can tell you I don’t have money, but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over listening to a very large amount of content. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you listen to Sounds like Crowe’s now, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you, but if you don’t I will look for you, I will find you and I will make you.

Adam "CriticalEyeRpg" AndersonFinally, an Actual-Play Worth Listening ToI don't listen to actual play podcasts. I don't watch them on You Tube or Twitch. I don't like them. They aren't good. They are bad. All of them. "But wait!" you say, "Perhaps you haven't listened to my favorite AP! It's actually good! I promise." It isn't. Its bad. They're all bad. Yes, even that one with the actors and the 10 million dollar cartoon. Its bad. They're all bad. Maybe that's too harsh - maybe they just aren't for me. Or so I thought. I'm not sure why I tried Sounds Like Crowes. I remember thinking to myself, "Look, another actual play. Bad, probably." I'd stumbled across Game Master Caleb Sundsted's Twitter profile a few times, I'd seen his cool-as-hell Crowe's t-shirt and read his wry tweets. Maybe it was the wry tweets. I grabbed a few episodes before a cross-country flight and gave 'em a listen. What I discovered was that not all APs are bad - and that Sounds Like Crowes is in fact very, very good. The audio is clean with nearly zero background noise, the edits are well done and maintain the flow of the story while still representing that this is a game and the dice are steering many of the outcomes. While Caleb and the boys do voices for their characters, none of them sound cheesy or annoy - a common problem with APs. My mind was blown. Here I was travling 550mph at 30,000 feet and my entire perception of the RPG actual play had been changed by a group of gamers from Colorado. The folks behind Crowes define their characters by consistent role-play. For the listeners, this is similar to how we learn about characters in good books or films. The Crowe boys are fleshed out, characters with histories, experiences, and secrets that not even all of the other players in the game know. The show meters out this character exposition with an uncommon dose of style and skill as the characters reveal details about their histories with each other through role-play and dialog. No one utters the phrase "I am a half-orc fighter who's parents were killed by halflings and I seek vengeance." Instead, we learn about the characters piece by piece - their actions and their interactions with others define these characters in such a way that we, the listeners, can often predict what they might do in a given situation. "Oh, Able isn't going to let that go unchallenged!" "What's Lucky going to say about that?" "Thaddeus is going to make a mess of this when he finds out..." Do yourself a favor and give Sounds Like Crowes a Listen. Its an Actually Good Actual Play (AGAP). The first few episodes are maybe a little slow for some, but I found them delightful. If that is an issue for you, don't despair. The pacing accelerates as the story progresses.

Zach LaBountyNothing Compares to SLCSounds Like Crowes is far and away the best actual play podcast out there. You think Critical Role is good? They've got nothing on the Crowe boys. Episodes are narratively tight and nearly every scene packs some weight. The show has done nothing but improve over time and it's the only podcast I look forward to every week. The story follows the five Crowe brothers seeking vengeance for their ma. It's a gripping tale of familial love and revenge. The top notch editing menas there's rarely a moment wasted, so even though the episodes are a bit on the short side they feel just as long as some of the more lengthy actual plays. Take a chance on the Crowe boys! Their chemistry will sell the rest.

Gazza_171BEST of the BestThese guys are killing it!!! Sounds Like Crowes are a great example of what makes AP's so incredible. This is storytelling at a high level with vivid believable characters who are co-creating a world that is entertaining and inspiring. Thank you for your unflagging dedication to a fun hobby and media format.
-
Desk__Bring back blaze panther!Great Ap podcast with incredible production values. You will enjoy this just for the story even if your not intrested in Savage Worlds or Deadlands.
-
Not Another NathanMakes me want to playGreat podcast from top to bottom. Story, sound and RP are all top notch. If you are into Deadlands or Westerns and aren’t listening you are missing out.
-
NovazeonBest AP podcast out thereAs I write this review, SLC is the best AP podcast out there, bar none. The commitment to quality, the outstanding interactions between the cast members, and the insanely good GMing by Caleb make this my most awaited podcast release weekly. Do yourself a favor and go listen to them. You won’t regret it. There’s a brother to love and one to hate for everyone. Which ones are yours?
-
HistorianOfNukesInspiring and very well edited!I was suggested to listen to SLC by a good friend of mine and barely 2 episodes into the first season I instantly fell in love with all the characters and the story telling. The story of these brothers is so well edited and played out even from the beginning and just gets better and better as time goes on. Also this amazing podcast inspired my friends and I to create our own podcast. I highly reccommend this podcast if you like a good balance of story and out of character goofs.

DarkCrystal34One of the best actual-plays!I found out about Sounds Like Crowes from a collaboration they did with Shadow of the Cabal, an L5R podcast I greatly enjoy. I am so happy to have discovered this podcast; as a total nerd about Actual Play Tabletop podcasts (I listen to around 12 or so) Sounds Like Crowes immediately shot up to being one of my absolute favorites when listening to it, and it just keeps getting better. I'm nearly caught up, and am so impressed at their ability to truly embody the "R" in "roleplay"...they are just fantastic getting into character, their chemistry is effortless, and it sounds like they've been playing together for years. Also impressive is the fact that the in-game scenes are a straight drama and filled with tension, but out-of-character they are one of the funniest groups I've heard when just bantering back and forth. Each character is distinct and different with very clear personalities that at times allow the group to feel bonded like a family, and other times you really feel it when they are in conflict. And all this coming from a guy who didn't even know what Savage Worlds or Deadlands is. I'm usually a high fantasy or sci-fi guy, so Sounds Like Crowes really surprised me with its brilliance. Keep up the great work Crowe boys!

YukikiwiWhat's with all the bugs?I reached out to these lovely podcasters, a few days ago. And I'm shocked to hear I'm the first from Colorado to reach out. Like where is the love for these amazing podcasts. This is an amazing podcast with a wonderful story. The story has a real western feel and a dark horror element to it all. It has high predictions feel. And my mother has gotten hooked on it too, so Caleb your mother is not the only mom listening to all the hard work you guys put into to this. And mom loves Daisy. And wants to know what's with all the bugs?
-
Melting Plot PodcastOne of a KindA lot of people do actual play podcasts. Very few do it like these guys. We owe a debt to Sounds Like Crowes for reminding us that story and narrative should always come first. These guys know how to elevate an audio medium into something much more immersive than it has any right to be. With a little luck, Sounds Like Crowes may end up becoming the best of its kind, period.
-
nightscowlGreat Actual PlayWell produced, high quality actual play podcast. The story is engaging and the characters are really great. The group has a wonderful chemistry that allows them to switch from casual jokes to serious roleplay in an instant. The whole thing is cinematic and I've actually learned a bit about the Deadlands system just from listening, although I've never played. If you like something a little dark and a lot western, this is for you.
-
Relative Dimension Podcast10/10 Would Deadlands again!I've been in love with the Deadlands setting since it was released in '96, and it's been sorely lacking in the podcast department. Until now. Sounds Like Crowes makes you feel like you are traveling along with the Crowe boys, on their quest for vengeance. The Editing is awesome, the character development is satisfying, and the story. . . Well, listen for youself, because this is a story you need to hear.
-
GingerreckoningGeat dramatic APYou can find plenty of comedy actual play podcasts out there but finding a good dramatic one is a challenge. This show nails it. Sounds Like Crowes has everything I look for in an AP show. 1) Great sound quality and editing 2) Fantastic chemistry between players 3) An engaging story that keeps me interested Keep up the great work y'all.
-
KnifestormPolished, engaging, and funI normally can’t stomach actual play podcasts, but this one is great! They edit and polish it, and present only the best parts. The characters are connected to their world and the story is engaging.
-
Beldar1215Great Deadlands API just found this podcast. I love what the guys are doing. The sound quality is very good. You never have trouble hearing all of the players. The story so far is really engaging and it really makes my work day more bearable. Chris “Savage Mommy” Fuchs Host of SavageCast- a Savage Worlds podcast
-
TannerClausenIntense APIf you're going to give any AP the 4-episode test drive, Crowes is one to put at the top of your list. The group is dedicated to the setting, the intense situations, the RP, the atmosphere, and everything in between. All of the players and the GM have an incredible amount of talent and I can't wait to listen to more.
-
KintrixHot time in the Weird WestY’all really know how to get the listener hooked, gentlemen! It’s like I’m listening to the story of my life, if my life had happened in Deadlands. Top notch performances one and all, and even the jokes and slips work to make the characters more believable. Keep ‘em coming y’all, keep ‘em coming!
-
MusicalMelaninCrowes Like Sounds Sounds LikeI love actual play podcasts...but also I'm extremely critical of them. So, the fact that I'm still listening means that it is good in many areas. The sound is great, the story is intriguing, the setting is unique, and the cast interacts well together. I knew nothing about the Deadlands system, but I am enjoying it! It brings in some great surprises that I was simply not expecting. Well done.
-
PurpledragoonA great show if you love, drama, mystery, comedy, Westerns and D@DMe and my wife love listening to the pod cast whenever we have to drive out to visit family! If you’ve ever loved role playing, westerns, D@D games, or even just a good story, then this podcast is for you. The people who make it do an excellent job of having a great time, all the while delivering a great entertainment experience! The cast all have a great chemistry with one another, and I can tell they all really have a good time creating it. I can’t wait for more!
-
Lucielle D.Entertaining, suspenseful, and unique! My husband and I discovered this podcast on a road trip and we're hooked! Its a very unique approach to a poscast that we've never heard before. The structure drives the storyline in such a way that no one knows what will happen next, which makes it extremely entertaining to listen to.
-
ParishraneSomething newThis podcast fills in a dramatic gap in the actual play podcast world. Focused on dead lands reloaded it’s serious, but edited for cohesion, and very listenable.
