Witty, clever, & full of fun stories

    Great idea but….
I was so excited then I heard the host’s voice. Effeminate high school kid voice, not interested in what he’s reading either. I checked a few other episodes and yea… he’s in the rest of them too

  • this show used to be good
    Capitalism is so disgusting lol
Two idiots talking about things they have no clue about.

    This podcast is a treasure
Episode suggestions: The tomb of Antiochus (Nemrut Dag) in Turkey. This story includes classic archeology, a still unearthed burial chamber and a kickass female archeologist.

A True Diamond in the Rough
I’ve known Maxwell for most of my life, and as such, I can validate that his personality truly shines through the prism of this podcast like a lighthouse in a dark fog. Combining his affinity for cultured writing with his passion for treasure hunting, Relic proves you don’t need to be an NPR radio host to be professional. His pacing and subject matter are quite engaging without seeming overly dry or dense. While not every topic may grab the attention of listeners, there is something here for everybody - from the popular to the esoteric. If you enjoy strange yet wonderful tellings of hidden gems of our collective past, this podcast is for you. Looking forward to exploring the entire catalogue of Relic in the future.

A Treasure in and of itself
I thought I wrote one of these years ago when I first started listening, but oh well, I will write one now. Maxwell and his podcast on Lost Treasure of the world is well researched, well done, and well done with passion for the material. As a lifelong lover of the idea of lost treasure, I could not have found a better source to learn so much more about something that lives mostly in my wildest dreams. It's my favorite podcast and you won't regret listening to this gem.

    Stop Attempting Humor
Why would you ruin a potentially good podcast with numerous (failed) attempts to be funny? It makes it unlistenable.

    Fine in limited amounts
I have only listened to two podcasts and I find I can only listen to about half an ep before the random “jokes” and the speech pattern bothers me. I prefer something a little more like an audio only documentary. Good idea for a pod though.

    A Hidden Gem
Not sure how I came across this podcast. I added it to my long list this past summer & started listening recently. What a pleasant surprise. The host is knowledgeable, charming and adds just the right amount of humor. A hidden gem that I will definitely be chatting up.

Who doesn’t love adventure? Intrigue? Maxwell’s RELIC podcast provides both. Plus, it’s all wrapped up in a very polished, organized bow! Max is a brilliant writer, speaker and engaging host. So pack your bags, your maps, and up your insurance policies. You don’t know where this treasure hunt might take you. 🖤, Brock Cocktail Party Massacre Podcast

I am loving this new find! It was recommended to me a long time ago but with my long list of podcasts, it took me a while to try it. WAITING = BIG MISTAKE! Really glad to have found this.
Rarely do I find single host show that manages to bring good production, new topics, real info AND humor together but this one does. I am genuinely thrilled and excited to binge the old episodes and start complaining that there aren't more!

    Excellent Detail
The host, Maxwell, does a great job with this podcast. For me, as a listener, three things stick out: 1) the extraordinary amount of historical detail, contextualized within and connected to contemporary culture. This makes the amazing(ly random) artifacts he covers even more fascinating. 2) His general personality and humor. This isn't a dry review of antiquities; this is a deep dive into history through material objects, fragments, skeletons, and lore. 3) The music. The music is always topical and relevant. It always adds to, never detracts from, Maxwell's storytelling. Excellence!
