I look forward to listening to the podcast every week. I enjoy the banter between Aaron and Jacob who reveal their humanity and especially our own. My only request is to pace the discussion of the pericopes. I love hearing the background of the OT reading but I really need further discussion, etc., of the Gospel reading.

This podcast has quickly become my favorite for sermon prep. I share it with all my pastor friends. But even if you aren’t a preacher, there are helpful nuggets to find which can help you understand the gospel readings or one of the texts not preached about in your own church that week. My only complaint is that I get a panic attack about once an episode while I’m driving and sirens go off in Jacob Smiths audio. Is there a go-fund me we can contribute to to get Jacob a sound booth? Keep up the stellar work!

I’ve been a lay preacher in the Episcopal church for about a year and my instructor pointed this podcast out to me. On weeks when I’m preaching, I take notes to help me edit and organize my thoughts and when I’m not preaching, I listen to learn more about both scripture and theology. I also enjoy the friendly banter between the hosts. This podcast is a most for anyone wanting to learn!

While I have the joy of hearing Aaron, et al, preach at St. Alban’s on Sundays, I also appreciate this weekly tidbit. Hearing your takes on the lectionary readings (accompanied by your lively banter) brings new life to the passages.Thanks for putting this out there in the world!

Great Gospel conversation can be heard in the midst of creaking chairs and honking horns! During a pandemic and starting new job they have kept me sane. These guys do smell a lot like Jesus.

In an era where it can be hard to find good expositional preaching from an Anglican (Episcopalian) perspective, this podcast is a refreshing oasis of biblical orthodoxy. Beware, you will hear the unashamed profession of the Gospel, and you will love it.

This is a good podcast and the content is spot on. It helps me reflect on the scriptures in helpful ways. The podcast could really use some tweaking, though. First, one of the hosts is a bit too flippant or sarcastic. There are moments that are significant or meaningful that get broken up by his sarcastic remarks. Also, the podcast itself needs some better production. A few vehicle noises are understandable, but constant horns and sirens take away from the listener experience. We can also hear one of the hosts breathing in and out. It just takes us away from the conversation.

Engaging hosts! Great way to summarize and unify the lectionary texts each week. FWIW - I love the ‘shop’ talk at the beginning. Encouraging to here about the joys, happenings, and frustrations of your ministries

I’ve been listening for a few years, and I still have a devil of a time remembering whose voice is whose. 😉 But that’s my only problem with this fine podcast. Like Mockingbird in general, this ‘cast serves as an antidote to the semi-Pelagian, “try harder” sermons that typify preaching in my particular denominational home (UMC). Jake and Aaron remind me: we NEVER OUTGROW the gospel. Thank you, guys!

...but it’s 11 months into a global pandemic and I need all the Gospel I can get. So appreciate this conversation each week. Thank you!

Aaron and Jake always remind us of the Gospel and I always laugh out loud at least twice an episode. A true highlight to my week. And I’m not even a priest.

Listening to SOS while stress cleaning has been the only antidote to my coronavirus-related social media anxiety spiral. Just the grace I need to (briefly) turn my attention to the Savior and find some much needed relief.

This is a great way to get ready for Sunday worship. I’d recommend lay and clergy alike listen to this podcast. HOWEVER, it is probably best to read the lectionary before listening.

Long time devoted listener here. I love tuning in every week to get my preaching juices flowing. Aaron and Jacob are not only super funny, but also very clearly deeply sincere and faithful Christians. It’s all about that Gospel of love and grace. I’d listen every week even if I wasn’t a preacher!

I get bored easily, but this podcast is like the Three Bears for me, just right. Just right amount of time—30 minutes—and just right amount of information. I don’t want a sermon, I only want a few interesting ideas to spur me on as I prepare to preach. I salute you guys!!
