srvdoveSqueaky Chairs and SirensI LOVE the sounds of NY City and Jacobus’ office chair - they add atmosphere and make listening seem more like I’m actually in a living room listening to a couple dudes talk about Jesus- please don’t change- Thanks for all the Good News

Pastured GeezerGive ‘em the GospelI look forward to listening to the podcast every week. I enjoy the banter between Aaron and Jacob who reveal their humanity and especially our own. My only request is to pace the discussion of the pericopes. I love hearing the background of the OT reading but I really need further discussion, etc., of the Gospel reading.

PrJoYoStellar lectionary podcastThis podcast has quickly become my favorite for sermon prep. I share it with all my pastor friends. But even if you aren’t a preacher, there are helpful nuggets to find which can help you understand the gospel readings or one of the texts not preached about in your own church that week. My only complaint is that I get a panic attack about once an episode while I’m driving and sirens go off in Jacob Smiths audio. Is there a go-fund me we can contribute to to get Jacob a sound booth? Keep up the stellar work!

idestellaCONGRATULATIONS on your 300th!Love the banter and insights! Been listening since 2018. Keep it up, gents!

Carrie, from the 'HamI look forward every weekGetting a preview of the scriptures every week really adds to Sunday worship. Thanks so much!
-
Mountain DrewAwesome every timeI listen every week, whether I’m preaching or not! So grateful for these two outstanding priests. One comment: more banter! 😁

drtcaLent 4I never knew until I listened to this week’s podcast about the snakes God sent after his whining people that the old Texas parental idiom, “be quiet or I’ll give you something to cry about” had Biblical origins. Thanks guys.

PaulD31047A Great Resource for a New PreacherI’ve been a lay preacher in the Episcopal church for about a year and my instructor pointed this podcast out to me. On weeks when I’m preaching, I take notes to help me edit and organize my thoughts and when I’m not preaching, I listen to learn more about both scripture and theology. I also enjoy the friendly banter between the hosts. This podcast is a most for anyone wanting to learn!

katkinson79Love the lively banterWhile I have the joy of hearing Aaron, et al, preach at St. Alban’s on Sundays, I also appreciate this weekly tidbit. Hearing your takes on the lectionary readings (accompanied by your lively banter) brings new life to the passages. Thanks for putting this out there in the world!

louworshipThe SowerThis was an amazing episode! Thank you guys so much, and thanks also for the movie recommendation for “Flamin Hot!” Grab a bag of flamin hot Cheetos and enjoy that movie— after you listen to this episode! I can’t wait to preach cheap, no, FREE grace, this Sunday! God bless and thanks again. ~ Louie

CarCampersRefreshingI listen to a different lectionary podcast, which is good. But this one is REAL GOOD! Thanks guys

Weezermo123Best Chapel Prep!I preach Fridays to a room full of students ages 5-14, with a few adults scattered through out the pews. Each week they get two scoops of grace heavily influenced by this podcast. Thank you so much for the help! More importantly thank you for the grace I’ve experienced through each episode.
-
SavaranorolaSame Old SongThis cradle Presbyterian loves SOS. I have listened (most) every week for a couple of years. Thank you for keeping the Good News front and center. Susan Nading

SOS fan boi“Jesus makes you more skunky”Great Gospel conversation can be heard in the midst of creaking chairs and honking horns! During a pandemic and starting new job they have kept me sane. These guys do smell a lot like Jesus.
-
AncabetFantastic!Really enjoy these short, (very) smart insights on the readings each week. Even if I’m not preaching I don’t miss an episode! Not just culturally relevant but also deeply theological. This podcast will improve your walk with Jesus.

Bil10923874Doubt Totally Normal Totally ForgivenListening to the episode ‘ Doubt Totally Normal Totally Forgiven ‘ while walking the treadmill at the Hampton Inn , in Palestine Texas just might be the coolest thing that has ever happened to me . Bravo as always !

JoyfullyRedeemedChrist for youExcellent podcast which continually reminds us that the Gospel is what God does for us, not what we do for God or what we need to do to please Him. We belong to Christ through no effort of our own. Grateful for the reassuring i gospel nuggets each week!

TR3 90Great orthodox Anglican preachingIn an era where it can be hard to find good expositional preaching from an Anglican (Episcopalian) perspective, this podcast is a refreshing oasis of biblical orthodoxy. Beware, you will hear the unashamed profession of the Gospel, and you will love it.
-
SGOS FANSame Great Old SongThis is my favorite Podcast and I look forward to it every week. Thanks!
-
RevDMQHoping to be constructiveThis is a good podcast and the content is spot on. It helps me reflect on the scriptures in helpful ways. The podcast could really use some tweaking, though. First, one of the hosts is a bit too flippant or sarcastic. There are moments that are significant or meaningful that get broken up by his sarcastic remarks. Also, the podcast itself needs some better production. A few vehicle noises are understandable, but constant horns and sirens take away from the listener experience. We can also hear one of the hosts breathing in and out. It just takes us away from the conversation.
-
Nature CoastSame Old Song is Back!Engaging hosts! Great way to summarize and unify the lectionary texts each week. FWIW - I love the ‘shop’ talk at the beginning. Encouraging to here about the joys, happenings, and frustrations of your ministries

GodOrdainedNicknameBread x 3Brilliant. Laugh out loud funny. Insightful.

Brent L. WhiteListen weekly for sermon prepI’ve been listening for a few years, and I still have a devil of a time remembering whose voice is whose. 😉 But that’s my only problem with this fine podcast. Like Mockingbird in general, this ‘cast serves as an antidote to the semi-Pelagian, “try harder” sermons that typify preaching in my particular denominational home (UMC). Jake and Aaron remind me: we NEVER OUTGROW the gospel. Thank you, guys!
-
Holland BanseAlso a layperson......but it’s 11 months into a global pandemic and I need all the Gospel I can get. So appreciate this conversation each week. Thank you!
-
JCAG8Making me think (and laugh)Aaron and Jake always remind us of the Gospel and I always laugh out loud at least twice an episode. A true highlight to my week. And I’m not even a priest.
-
F-A JayFinally figured it outJacob and Aaron are the Statler and Waldorf of TEC.
-
Super irritated and frustratedThank you! What a meaningful weekly listen.
-

-
PastorwannabeAwesome! The humor is great! These two inspire a grace filled sermon—bravo!! Thank you for this work.
-
klyuuuuuuThank you ♥️Listening to SOS while stress cleaning has been the only antidote to my coronavirus-related social media anxiety spiral. Just the grace I need to (briefly) turn my attention to the Savior and find some much needed relief.
-
KSchenkewitzGreat prep for Sunday worshipThis is a great way to get ready for Sunday worship. I’d recommend lay and clergy alike listen to this podcast. HOWEVER, it is probably best to read the lectionary before listening.
-

RevewiwLove love LOVE this podcast!Long time devoted listener here. I love tuning in every week to get my preaching juices flowing. Aaron and Jacob are not only super funny, but also very clearly deeply sincere and faithful Christians. It’s all about that Gospel of love and grace. I’d listen every week even if I wasn’t a preacher!
-
Episcopal GalJust rightI get bored easily, but this podcast is like the Three Bears for me, just right. Just right amount of time—30 minutes—and just right amount of information. I don’t want a sermon, I only want a few interesting ideas to spur me on as I prepare to preach. I salute you guys!!
-
ufivgood newslove this podcast, coming from orange county it’s hard to find a church that preaches the gospel so this podcast has helped me tremendously in hearing some good news !
-
coramdeo1997A delightful and refreshing Podcast.Found the link to “same old song” through reading Modern Reformation Magazine. I really enjoyed the podcast and found my soul refreshed in the truth of God’s Word. Keep up with the faithful and good work!

Priest of PoetsRestAll the Mockingbird podcasts have literally saved me from existential despair. I’m not being sarcastic or joking at all. If you are someone hounded be a relentless accusing voice. Suffering from a heavy shame. Are absolutely exhausted by fighting sin with now sign of escape. Listen to this podcast along with the Mockingcast, the Mockingpulpit and Talkingbird. And hear the good news that God forgives you always, no matter what.
-
MrrobgCHEEESE!!!Dudes! You spend 2 minutes on the Colossians passage?? Methinks you purposely avoided the proviso in v. 23. 🙄 Love you guys anyway so... still 5 stars.

KelWatts0830Thanks, guys! This podcast is a great way to open thought and reflection on the liturgical readings and always has me excited for the upcoming service! I appreciate your wisdom and humor, and am really grateful for this podcast. 😊
-
Dad GibneyGreat showI appreciate the content, humor and love for Gods word in this podcast.
-
ElisabethShue2Delightfully Good News! These guys do a great job succinctly working through the lectionary scriptures for easy listening but not lacking insight.
-
callingbatonrougeHelp for Preacher's BlockThis is fast becoming my most faithfully listened to podcast week in and week out. For any preacher staring down another rapidly approaching Sunday, this podcast always will help you to put the Good News back into your tired ole appeal for your congregation to shape up. Aaron and Jake explore the lectionary texts through the Law/Gospel lens with humor and insight. Never miss an episode!
-
TomlovestheducksThe smoothest lectionary podcast out there! Thanks, Jacob and Aaron, for the smoothest lectionary study available. I listen even when not preparing to preach that Sunday. That smooth Jesus jazz and culturally savvy banter maintain the levity of the Gospel while the exegesis delivers incisive law/gospel with no additives.
