Dave Apple UserToo Many InfomercialsThis show, I suspect for good reason, is no longer produced, but I use the app for weekly HRV readings so I hoped the podcast would be useful. I’ve only listened to 6 or 7 episodes but most have more infomercial than useful, science based info. A good example is the episode with an optometrist, on the vagus nerve. Hmmm…an optometrist? She does have a medical background and had personal motivation so…maybe. She related her horrific health experience that started with a virus and ended up with POTS that seemed not to be POTS, or maybe it was that and more. Somehow her children also got POTS but she didn’t explain how. She talked about issues with acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, and how she temporarily was able to relieve one important, related symptom with nicotine patches, but had to discontinue their use due to side effects. She didn’t explain how she fully recovered from her problems, which apparently was due to caring for the vagus nerve. The host asked but her answer was...vague. Turns out all her efforts resulted in a supplement, for sale on Amazon, intended to strengthen the parasympathetic system (PNS) and specifically the vagus nerve. It even has a catchy name, and costs more than $2/day. I’m not a neurologist or any kind of doctor but a supplement that is somehow directed at specific elements of the nervous system sounds like a sales pitch. So I queried two AI agents about ways to strengthen the PNS and specifically the vagus nerve. Both reported that evidence supports physical methods such as breathing exercises, yoga, meditation, etc. Both said that any evidence regarding supplements is not conclusive but mentioned Omega-3s, other basic supplements. Other episodes I’ve listened to featured a performance coach, who also recovered from personal difficulty but otherwise has unclear credentials, about breathing; a chiropractor and life coach about how to live fully; and a psychologist about resonant breathing. Resonant breathing does have reasonable evidence to support it so I reached out to this psychologist to see what her coaching would cost. The response I got was from some other practitioner who offered 10 sessions of coaching for a mere $7500! These people are taking advantage of two things - one is people's desperate need, or at least strong motivation, to improve their lives. The other is plausibility. Some breathing techniques can help certain issues. Some supplements can provide benefits. HRV is a useful biomarker but are the courses and add ons the app tries to sell useful? So they make a case that you NEED to purchase their solution without saying that the only certain outcome is that they’ll get your money while you will likely get little or no benefit. I'll end with a positive note on the Elite HRV app. It does seem to be useful for monitoring HRV over time. The question is will the upsells, the courses, etc., help? I don’t know.

GymLover2TediousI am very much into HRV, but the episodes usually have nothing to do with HRV. Host is boring and a poor interviewer.

AnnieFocusdLearning a lot—thanks! So appreciate the team for creating this resource! Learning a lot already!

Silian RailWaste of timeThe most recent podcast with Dean Dwyer was pure garbage. The guest was a clown and the podcaster didn't ask a single question. Obvious money grab by Elite HRV who just collected their fee from this clown to advertise on their show.

Nicky135BonesA surprising gemDownloaded the app to measure my HRV (which is also excellent & will write data to training peaks) from there stumbled across the podcast. This is a really solid podcast. Guests are knowledgeable with fantastic grasp of physiology and the impact of various factors on athletic performance and wellness. I’m hard to impress with podcasts but this is a new favorite. Anyone looking to improve performance should give this a listen.

Nyeusi NyatiBiofeedback for the win!I recently listened to the conversation with Dr. Hart and it rings true to everything I have learned over the past decade with yoga as well as teaching recovering addicts how to use yoga asana and pranayama to manage internal response to both thoughts and external situations in a positive way. I believe this 2020’s will be the decade of truly bringing together so many different aspects of performance through powerful biofeedback technologies to cultivate the next generations of highly capable, compassionate humans.

AnnycedayGreatnessFive stars to the podcast and app. Using this app for a couple years now, the more I learn the more I like about HRV. Being an older athlete, understanding when to train and when to train to recover has been key. The information is legit. Tip to new users, consistency and reading how to use HRV is key. Thank you

nrlacancBest overall health related podcastIf you are going to listen to one health related podcast this is the one. Jason is a extremely knowledgable host yet he keeps the focus on his guests not trying to prove what he knows. He summarizes the guests comments which helps a lot when listening. A variety of guests are brought on the show from fitness and nutrition trainers to scientific researchers. I am recovering from a TBI and have become self aware of how my body responds to any changes. Through this podcast I have learned so much about how my system is responding to recovery and how monitoring HRV can provide more in depth information to further my recovery. I am excited to get the CoreSense so I can start more efficiently tracking my HRV.

LauraLaine02Very useful and easy to understandI am just learning about HRV and all of it's applications and implications. To learn more about it, I started listening to this podcast on my way to work. I have learned a ton already, it's really interesting and useful stuff! I like the way it is broken down, so I can actually digest this while driving through traffic. I also like that there is a good deal of info within each episode (many other podcasts spend a lot of time rambling on without giving much information).

Ross7917Invaluable Information at the strap of the Chest!Howdy Elite HRV Team, I would like to take this opportunity to say I'm enjoying the show and your app. In particular, I really appreciate the interview with Alessandro; tons of good stuff there folks! If I may offer a suggestion, see if you can get Ben Greenfield on the show; he's a big advocate of morning HRV testing. Keep up the great work!

BIllyMc2011Great Info on HRVJust listened to your interview with Marco Altini. Very informative. I've only been using HRV monitoring for about 6 months for IM training. Was getting discouraged due to looking at results lower than the average in my age group (59 years young). Thanks for clearing that up for me!
-
PatrikilioniExcellent! Very informativeI'm starting to treat my health more seriously, and this podcast helped touch up on increasingly important topics in the realm of health and wellness. Both the host and speaker were very engaging.
