During my time as a student at ICL in the early 00’s, I learned so much! I gained and picked up very valuable information and tools that has helped me in my writing. So excited to know that ICL has a podcast! Will definitely be tuning in!

I love that Katie’s podcast is specifically for writing for children. I listen to a LOT of writing podcasts, but this is one of the only ones that is specifically targeted towards children’s authors. In addition to the shorter episodes with practical advice, I’m so thankful previews of the author interviews are offered for free on the podcast. So encouraging!

Listening to Katie‘s podcast I feel encouraged and realistic about my writing journey...and so excited to pursue my dream of becoming a published author. She feels like a personal, honest friend who has been through ups and downs and wants to share the lessons she’s learned. She is a wealth of knowledge and she inspires me to persevere with all of her practical advice. So thankful!

I appreciate the concept but the content is pretty thin in this podcast and the host is constantly trying to up sell the audience on products. One episode she read a list of commonly confused homonyms and then pitched whatever product. I don’t even know because I tuned out. Not the best

The podcast is way too heavy on the promotion of paid content, to the point that it’s almost not worthwhile. The little content provided is great quality and the host is fun to listen to. The intro music is also a bit annoying after a while.

Katie gives so much great information along with having great guests with a lot of insights and tips for writers. Her podcasts are my favorite and keep me so motivated. She is always so kind and upbeat. She also provides downloads of her show notes which I love! So informative and helpful.

I enjoy listening to Katie Davis while I’m driving. The ICL podcasts are informative and the guests are interesting. Highly recommended.

Writing for Children is a fantastic podcast. I have just finished listing to all the episodes. I love the great tips that Katie Davis gives and her easy of explaining what you need to become a better writer. Her podcasts are short and to the point. She has inspired me to write more short stories to improve my writing skills before I write my big novel. Katie Davis has given me the power to take more classes and write more.

I love popping in my earbuds and listening to Katie preach the gospel of writing for children while I’m putting away laundry or making school lunches for my family at night. After my mundane chores, I feel inspired and ready to write. I particularly enjoyed the recent episode about pacing, Get Tense (episode 122). Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Katie!

Been a long time listener and an ICL graduate, but now the podcast has turned into not much more than an attempt to monetize the new subscription format group. While the topics covered seem interesting, unless you pay, you'll only get some of the information, hear some of the conversation with the guest, etc. Do go back and listen to older episodes. There is good information to be found - but know that once you get to present day episodes, you're going to get a sales pitch in every episode and you won't hear all the information offered.

I listen to this podcast on a regular basis, though I have not caught up completely, but it makes for some great information each time I listen. There is great information given concerning the process of writing, how to submit your work, and also about the publishing side. There are great tips and advice presented based on many years of experience from a plethora of writers, publishers, and editors! You will not regret listening to this podcast.

I listened to you pitch the Picture Book Summit and I did enroll in that last year. It was pretty fantastic and I recommend it to anyone who wants to write picture books. I would take part again this year but I can't afford to now. I will miss it, but I have recently listened to summits on writing and publishing books and Ebooks so I am all inspired now.

I learned so much from Katie's previous podcast, and I'm glad she's focusing on craft in this one. It's like taking a class but you can do it while making dinner!

I really enjoy learning on the go with an everyday busy life and travel.

I really enjoyed Katie Davis's previous podcast and was delighted to try this one. I love Katie's enthusiasm, but it's the info that keeps me listening again and again. The transcript at the website is great and so far the listener questions at the end have been really applicable.

I think there is always more to learn and this seems very helpful in getting another perspective into the publishing world. I also like that they are short and sweet so I can listen intently but not feel as though I need to block out a ton of time to it.

I have listened to Katie do webinars and I really like her conversational style and humor. These podcasts are just the right length and give you information that is useful. I have been writing for several years but I think these podcasts would have really been helpful when I started out.

Mowing our lawn (a 2+ hour endeavor) is a rare opportunity for me to listen to the voices in my head - particularly those that dream of stories I’d like to write and publish. While recently tackling the yard, I decided to listen to other voices besides my internal monologue. Stumbling upon the “Writing for Children” podcast by Katie Davis, I found myself growing while mowing, hearing Katie & crew deliver expert advice much needed for this green creator/writer. I am excited to be in on an early subscription to this podcast and a new awareness of the resources/training available through the Institute of Children’s Literature.
