Daisymayhem812The Other TrenchGreat interview. The book just came and I’m starting it when I go to bed tonight👍

Floppy BillThe best podcast on World War IThis podcast is informative and entertaining. Mike researches and plans the show in advance. It is like listening to lecture series, but presented in a interesting manner. This isn’t just some guy rambling off the cuff. If you don’t know much about WWI, and work your way through the past episodes, you’ll have a in-depth understanding of the war. I can’t put this podcast on at night and hope to fall asleep to it because I will stay awake and listen until the end.

If you ain’t Cav…Do itI got too involved binge listening to all the episodes I forgot to write a review. Incredibly easy to digest, action packed, THIS IS THE PODCAST TO LISTEN TO. Can’t say enough, this podcast is exactly the format I want for any military study.

J ClamWowYour description of your recent recent visit to France was so well described it was if I was there with you!

Grayhawk55One of the Best! Must Listen StuffMike Cunha’s podcast is incredibly well done. Solidly researched and so very well written. (Great production values, too!). I used Mike’s podcasts as my ‘go to’ resource to plan my solo trip to the Meuse-Argonne and Verdun earlier this year and it made all the difference in the world. When I asked Meuse-Argonne author Marteen Otte (also the owner of a B&B in Montfaucon with his wife Didi) who produced the best Meuse-Argonne podcast, he quickly answered “Mike Cunha”. ‘Nuf said! If you have an interest in learning more about nearly every aspect of the AEF’s involvement in WWI (along with Verdun and countless other interesting topics), you’ll definitely want Mike’s podcasts in your queue. This is the good stuff!

3*gameSixCongratulations on six years, as of May 30, since you first published an ep. When did you break actual ground on the idea for this pod?

-
Roc wheelGreat infoBeen reading a lot about WW1 and this podcast has helped my studies a ton! Anybody know why steel or iron shields weren’t used when approaching enemy trenches? Seems like it would make sense.
-
Followr-of the - YassaArtillery ambianceCan anyone help me find the intro artillery sounds? There are some on you tube. However they don’t have the same sound other battles noises are distracting

JugglinBobGreat ShowJust started listening about 2 months ago. I love history and have always been interested in WW1. This show gives a great in depth look at the war. It’s detailed but not so much so, that the new enthusiast is “put off.” Mike presents many perspectives and viewpoints of the war both macro and micro in nature. He makes very complicated strategies and battles easier to understand.

Oh-EE-1996A solid podcast by a dedicated podcasterThis is an informative and solid podcast- Mr. Cunha is a down-to-earth person with a genuine interest and approach to his subject. I respect all of the effort he has put into this podcast, and I have really enjoyed this look into history. History, but yet not so unfamiliar- could not some of the images from Ukraine be confused with those from France in 1918? We need to be reminded of the Great War, if only to let us know that even with all of our technology we have not progressed as far as we’d like to believe. I would recommend this to anyone that realizes the past can inform the future.

-
Matt from flaIt’s just so worth itThe things that sucked me to Mike Cunha’s podcasts on WW1 are the same as drew me to Mike Duncan’s podcasts — starting from the beginning, you get to learn about history in an unexpectedly detailed way while also getting to know and trust the podcaster, which only the best at the format can do IMO. Thank you Mike C.!

H MathewsFrench Army in WWI-3 episodesMike, Finally finished listening to all three episodes. Fantastic series. Learned so much from all of your guests. French military politics/ religion. WbheartBattles of the First World War podcastOne of the finest podcasts I have had the pleasure to listen to. Well researched and provides an in depth understanding of the battles. Mike does an outstanding job making these battles come to life. The men, the tactics, the horror of the war comes through. I look forward to each episode as it tells a compelling story and a history that most people no little about. I find the podcasts to be fascinating and I feel brought back to that time in a way that a book or movie can’t fully convey. In short this podcast is truly riveting
-

addyyygLove! Comprehensive & engaging 🙌🏼Usually a WW2 fanatic, but have been dabbling in WW1 more & more. Went back & started this pod from the very beginning (almost 6 years ago!!!) & am on episode 14 already! Very detailed, visualizable (nice touch with using your front-facing fist as a geographic visual aid) & love the personal stories of the men. Occasional modern-day commentary ascribed to the troops/officers is also a nice bit of comic relief to break up the sadness of the WW1 reality. Great job, Mike! You’ve made a BotFWW pod fan out of me all the way from Las Vegas, NV, USA. 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇫🇷🇨🇦🇦🇺🪖🦅✨🎖❤️🤍💙

308castbulletForgot to BreatheI’ll admit to listening with my mouth open; not from being a knuckle-dragger, but because I am at the front, smelling the gas and cordite, ducking my head, knowing it’s too late anyway. The description of battle is of first order. The description of heroes leaves me in awe. I ask myself: could I do what they did? I, for one, will never forget.
-
RoMav9394Comprehensive and well voicedExcellent podcast! Mike’s voice and intonation make this great for all types of listening. Casual listening, background noise, travel, etc. but most of all it is thoroughly researched and presented with minimal bias. If you’re interested in WWI you will not be disappointed!
-
Royinla1PVT John Lewis Barkley,This latest episode is an amazing tail of courage, determination, and as the podcaster states, is a story which is just waiting for Hollywood to pick up and recount. Thanks for another great episode.
-
Pj54654Now THIS is a good oneThis is a great military history podcast. Mike has a good and appropriate mix of “bird’s eye view” all the way down to the platoon and individual level. He brings in journals whenever possible. He blends it all together in a cohesive narrative. Just wanted to update this review. Mike has really exceeded all expectations. I have thoroughly enjoyed the bit on the Lost Battalion especially!
-
Miky J.Love this podcastThis is a great podcast, and I love getting to listen to the forgotten battles of WWI, but it’s been awhile since he has done one. Please do come back soon to make some more WWI battle podcasts!
-

-
The Goode11TransfixedFor Anyone who appreciates story’s of the front, the trenches, and the struggle of the individual soldier as well as the big picture of the entire battle will hang on every word. (transfixed) I listen to a lot of history podcasts very few are done so thoroughly and with such care to detail best thing since Dan Carlin’s blueprint for Armageddon!!!
-
aardvark6155Churchill didn't get it right? HaHaThis guy criticizes a book written by Churchill about WWI without having read the book? Right. That was all I had to hear to realize this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Don't waste your time.

Dave101580Today I learnedHi there my name is David Smith I was recommended your podcast though iTunes. I have not been disappointed. 5 stars. I have a Bachelors of Arts in History with a focus on WWI and I must say that on avg. 75-80% of the information is new and exciting. Even if it’s something I know about the depth you provide on those topics only serves to enhance my own understanding of that area. Thanks so much for all the research and hard work you do to putting these wonderful episodes together extremely professional yet I don’t feel I’m listing to a lecture. I feel like a friend is telling me a story. I especially love the special guests and professors.
-

-
JannaB17The Best of the BestThis is the best World War I podcast out there. There’s no if’s, and’s or buts about it. The passion that Mike has for the subject is contagious and he truly puts his heart and soul into it. One can’t learn enough about the First World War. It’s the forgotten war, but the costliest and bloodiest in memory. It will forever live in the shadow of World War II because of the personalities involved in that war. But the horror it wrought should be shouted from the rooftops. Thank your providing such a brilliant podcast!!
-
