John S in CTNot only one of the best Star Trek podcasts, one of the best podcasts period.Irreverent. Silly. Touching. These are just some of the ways I would describe the greatest generation podcast. I’ve been listening since the third episode and it’s consistently one of my favorite podcasts of all time.
-
emmellynTook me so long to write a reviewI’ve been with this from the start, it’s one of the only pods I listen to, and I’ve attended several live shows. There is no better way to revisit the generational embarrassment of Trek-dom then in the company of Ben & Adam.

sawarmackThe Boy, His Eyes UncoveredAs a lover of all things Trek, this show brings me absolute guilt-free joy. Ben and Adam talk about my favorite chunk of media in totally unpretentious and hilarious ways. One of the rare podcasts that gets better with a second listen -inside jokes galore. Nontoxic, genuinely insightful, FUNNY, uplifting. Warning buoy fired!
-
GlimmertwinsfanNot BadIf you can get through their unrelenting schtick and occasional asinine gift openings (unwrappings) these guys are not bad. But alas I keep listening.

johnhuffstetlerAdam X. PranicaPeople probably say this all the time, but Adam Pranica has some major David X. Cohen from the Futurama commentaries vibes. If one were to invite noted Star Trek fan David X. Cohen as a guest host with Ben, it would likely fool some of us.

mklawunToo Funny for Work (TFFW)This podcast is incredible. Adam and Ben’s commentating style is so funny that I can no longer listen to it at work, even in headphones, because I have on several occasions audibly snorted or had to seriously strain to prevent myself from busting up in the middle of the office floor. Maybe it’s more suitable for road trips, where I can stop from embarrassing myself not from being outed as a Star Trek podcast listener, but just from being the guy who laughs randomly on the office floor. I’m interested to see where the show goes after Enterprise! Hopefully there will be another decade of episodes that I can listen to by myself in the car.

coolloser NPart One of TwoDo you like bits bits and bits? What about jokes more in than Picosby and The Boy? Cinema critique more real than Kevin’s dolls? Plus a Miriam of other great puns! Look no further than this, where Ben and Adam are clearly drunk Shimodae. See more at part two on Greatest Trek.

Tonton103First pod castThis is this first pod cast I’ve ever listened to, and I’m glad it was! I have been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid and it is wonderful to hear other nerds both love and laugh at something I hold so dear. Keep up the good pod!

veganmacAmazing podI started listening to this pod from episode 1 in early January, and have listened to almost 400 episodes as of November. I’m hoping to be caught up to real time releases in a few more months. There are a few things I appreciate about this pod: 1. The running jokes piled on top of each other reward consistent listening and make you feel included. The more you listen, the more enjoyable listening becomes. 2. Ben and Adam manage to make so much fun of Trek in a way that almost never feels mean. They almost never have anything derogatory to say about anyone’s work: they find ways to give genuine compliments to the actors and directors involved even when absolutely roasting an episode. 3. Their technical knowledge of filmmaking has taught me a lot about BTS stuff I’ve never thought about. I love when they explain how difficult a simple scene probably was to film because it had some weird prop or continuity thing to keep track of that would’ve never occurred to me. 4. Their self-deprecation is disarming.

sprootieGreatest Gen is my nubbin bugIt’s taken me listening to over 200 episodes and being called on P1’s twice before leaving this review… this is on me, not Adam and Ben. But now I can say it - Greatest Gen has completely monopolized my podcast list, and will continue to do so for weeks … months … years(?!?) to come. NEVER STOP!

podcast review nickname 123“european-style crying latrine”listening to the back catalogue of greatest gen on a train trip between montpellier and barcelona and, having just wept in a french bathroom, i laughed out loud at “european-style crying latrine” in DS9S5E20. thanks always for the laughs even and especially during the tough times

ricKauffmanAdam doesn’t deserve our fundingI think it’s ridiculous that Adam can’t commit to what he promises his viewers. What’s the point of the game board if you can just decide not to follow through on unfavorable results. I think all Friends of DeSoto should stop sending support until he gives us a Coco Nono/tiki drink episode (and being “maybe sick” while drinking during another episode doesn’t count as a reprieve) and a Naked Now/tub episode. We deserve better! Ben, stop being so passive and admit that you’re as angry at him as we are. We can all hear it in your voice.

Sal5051Greatest Pod of All TimeCan’t say enough good things about this pod. Laugh out loud funny. Hope you move to TOS once you are out of Enterprise! Keep it going forever!!
-
A BransoniteSmart, silly, awesomeThis show is two smart people who aren’t afraid to make dumb, juvenile jokes. They love trek but are willing to admit its faults. The chemistry between the hosts is awesome, and they have great knowledge of all things Trek, but the show isn’t at all self-serious. Well done!
-
KapKarlLoving and scathingThese guys are great. They clearly love the show, but don’t cut the dumb Trek Stuff any slack. They are dumb and clever and a ton of fun. It’s exactly the zone for me.
-
kaizo davidRevisiting TNG in my headIf you binged TNG or other star trek series its an enjoyable way to revisit those episodes in order thru this podcast.
-
Brandon DouglasHe also told me where the woods porno wasI haven’t seen what Ben and Adam look like, but if you’ve seen the clown film It (2017), Adam probably resembles Eddie (young version) while Ben looks my cousin Greg. The one that sold me oregeno and legal fireworks. Keep pod’n the pod boiz.

nikimac70Long time viewer first time reviewerIf you like Star Trek, especially The Next Generation there is no better podcast. All they got is bits. No matter what. From the Shimodas to the FODs it is a great show and a great community.
-
BenAtCornersliceATLBest Star Trek PodOr I assume, because once I found Ben & Adam I stopped looking. Started binging a few months ago and have made it to Voyager, and it just makes watching so much more fun! I'm starting to like Enterprise because of these guys!

Cardman44332211Great reviewersThese two have brought a new level of appreciation to the shows for me with the behind the scenes insight I never would have had. My brother is a photographer and I’m a truck driver. I mentioned split diopter lens and zoom in, dolly out in a conversation. He was very impressed with my knowledge. Thanks for helping me impress my little brother.

nate.look8 Years Late, but Fully EngagedI might be eight years late to the party, but I'm currently deep into season 3 of *The Greatest Generation*, and let me tell you, this podcast is worth every second of warp speed catch-up. Ben and Adam have managed to turn my casual Star Trek fandom into a full-blown obsession. Their mix of razor-sharp wit and genuine love for *TNG* makes each episode a hilarious adventure in its own right. Even though I just discovered this gem a few months ago, it already feels like I've been part of the crew for years. The running jokes and clever segments have me laughing out loud—and possibly getting some odd looks in public. But it's all part of the fun! Whether you're a seasoned Trekkie or just accidentally beamed in, *The Greatest Generation* is the podcast you didn't know you needed. Set phasers to "binge," because this is one mission you won’t want to abandon.

PolarspeechI don’t know how they do itAdam and Ben make watching all the Trek shows a blast. While doing so, they’ve created a family of Friends of DeSoto, a long, long list of inside jokes and the best merch! We love the extras too. Keep it up guys! Wishing you many scarves!!
-
baron_neutronWho has the best Star Trek podcast?Star Trek The Next Conversation is the best podcast ever in the history of all podcasts, up to and including podcasts that may run much smoother than this one with hosts who know exactly what order their show goes in; they're still better than that...FIVE STARS!!!
-
RorySantinoKeep These Guys Employed(Note: Oh my god, I forgot to hit send several years ago and just noticed this review. Sending as is...) Since they've both pretty much quite their jobs to goof of in front of the microphone for our pleasure, I feel it is my duty to give them a good review and occasional scarves. Their podcast has helped me get through work, a mental breakdown from work and the recovery (Note: also Trump, Covid, Long Covid, a divorce, and disability) all with humor and Trek-y goodness. They're on my favorite Trek show right now, Deep Space Nine, but I enjoyed their journey through Star Trek: The Next Generation as well. I only hope they hit a workhole when they reach the end of Star Trek: Enterprise and are flung back to suffer The Original Series and The Animated Series for their displeasure and our pleasure. It's not too much to ask.
-
sutgolfLove these guys!I can’t recommend this show enough! Coming from a place of love, Ben and Adam delight in making each other (and us) laugh, at the expense of star trek’s many quirks! Do yourself a favor - subscribe and spend a couple hours a week laughing along =)
-
Tiernan tLong time listener, first time crab^ don’t worry about that. Sending in a review, purely to applaud that use of HOLY CHOIR MUSIC, played as Adam opens his “long drink” in ENT. S1EP11. So so funny. The way Adam then said, “This is gonna be like an oasis in the desert. Oh long drink, you’re my only friend.” THEE GREATEST GENERATION. Such awesome pod. Good work boys. PS. Maybe … change the morn-hammered power hour into a jazz gummy square/ episode ? For the sake of your berdies!
-
reconbotThe perfect way to get more trek after you watch all of trek for old trekI’ve been listening to Captain Ben and “guy who pilots the ship” Adam for like almost a decade now. Jesus Christ that’s a long time. The went from film nerds to professional podcasters and you get to go on that journey too. They’re funny, insightful and I only rarely get upset at them and yell at my phone. You can’t do better than that! a would order again.
-
KKsquared22Yes. Updated! This show looks as amazing as it sounds. CGI is top notch and the visual effects blow me away with every episode. Loyal viewer forever! - 2017 Update: Now that we actually CAN view the show this review became An Old. Still loving each new phase of Greatest Gen and Trek!! Any thought to raise the stakes in the Game of Buttholes…(POW!)…Will of the Riker by eliminating each square you hot every week? Could reset each season of Enterprise, or not all, or maybe add a RESET veto? Cant wait to review you again many years from now :)

RamonLP4A Trek Podcast You NeedIf you enjoy Trek, this fantastic podcast is a must. Funny, heartfelt, and yes even insightful - it’s a show that loves Trek but isn’t afraid to be a little silly and jovial. If you are tired of the type of fandom that takes itself too seriously or the type can be toxic and off putting, this podcast and the community that has grown around it may be exactly what you are looking for.
-
anonymousmahlerBest trek podcast. It is not without its faults but what isn’t? Most entertaining trek podcast. But you needed to be more critical of Picard. Great cast, completely disappointing end, it deserved to be ripped a little more. Please promise you will not have kid gloves for voyager and enterprise. For a 5 star review my question is, if you are still honoring this. Would bringing back more tng cast in season 2 Picard harm or help the show? I personally want to see them all and the enterprise E.

ThePootieTootAdam and Ben WILL make your water breakI’ve loved this show from the beginning. You find with the best podcasts that they become interwoven with the highs and lows of your life. This show has helped me through love and loss and kept me laughing. Most recently was in fact a part of my labor and delivery story. While waiting at the hospital for our own little ‘bouy’ to join us, my husband and I thought listening to the newest episode would be a great way to pass the time. Almost immediately after finishing the episode, and before any other steps had to be taken to move my labor forwards, my water broke and 2 hours later our own little Nm. 1 was born. Do I think it was the particular episode? No. The host’s soothing tones? Not even. I’m honestly not sure how to prove that they did it, but I can say this. If you are looking for a show that makes you feel so satisfied after listening that you think you take on anything, even giving birth, this is the show for you.

ScottJeffersonFunniest Podcast There Is. Period. Exclamation Point!I have never laughed so hard and so much at a podcast, and I listen to TOSPWSAJ. The final season of Discovery was brilliant. The worse the episode, the better the podcast.

CinnamusCome for the Trek stay for the bonus contentBeen listening to this family of shows for a good six years now - recommended to me by fellow nerds and I’ve never looked back. The hosts are super-nerds but also super creative and thoughtful, bringing fantastic insight on the production side, and a nice, silly sensibility to their podcasts. A lot of it is (obviously) Trek-related, covering both older Trek (in the Greatest Gen) and the newer incarnations (in its sister show). All very much worth checking out, including the sandboxes (sometimes litter boxes) they practice in. The offseasons often bring something new and unusual - their review of 90s sci-fi pilots was amazing. But the real hidden gems are the weird and random-seeming specials they add to the donor-only bonus feed. Their Baywatch, Bar Rescue and Cheesecake Factory review specials are particularly incredible - any one of these would be a podcast I’d subscribe to just on their own and are testament to how creative and crazy these guys are. Their banter is genuine, the community they’ve built is fantastic, and the musical drops they pepper their shows with are ear-worms. Definitely worth the listen.

BlueyedcoyoteBest boss I ever hadI’ve been a listener from day 1, love this show! I am really hoping that This Old Enterprise makes a come back now that we have moved on to enterprise. But when does the bit theme song come to an end…
-
31 year old nerdThe TNG of Star Trek podcastsThis show has become the flagship of my podcast fleet and if you like Star Trek and like to laugh, I highly suggest you check it out. It has an inviting atmosphere, hilarious banter, engaging ongoing segments, a heartfelt AND tongue and cheek appreciation of Trek, and an (honestly) unparalleled commitment to its production. Seriously, this podcast shouldn’t be free—they put way too much work into it. I am absolutely willing to say at this point if you don’t listen to TGG or their sister show Greatest Trek, you haven’t really experienced all of Star Trek. In my mind they have surpassed the Animated Series in canon and are closing in on Enterprise.
-
ce_n'est_pas_un_nomI’ve outgrown itI listed to everything, from the beginning to the first episode of Enterprise. Their new theme song is an extended fart joke. It’s safe to say that I’ve moved on.

Ben JudyWe have no law to fit your crime. As an awkward middle aged dad who is the only Trekkie in his own family, it’s healthy for me to listen to a show where embarrassment is embraced as an art form, and being embarrassed about being a Star Trek fan is celebrated. I regularly rewatch Berman-era Star Trek shows, and after each episode I listen to about half a dozen different Star Trek podcasts—yes, it’s a sickness. This is the hands down the show I get the most enjoyment from. If you, too, are embarrassed about recognizing the made up names “Uxbridge” and “Shimoda”—and if you’d like to hear two guys make a podcast about their embarrassment over recognizing those names—this show is for you. Cheers, Ben and Adam. I wasn’t really ready for an Enterprise rewatch, but now you’re making me do it. We're not qualified to be your judges. We have no law to fit your crime.

Fun pod for movieJump in now for Star Trek: Enterprise. You just need one thing.Friends of DeSoto. Who are they? About the nicest and most entertaining people you’ll ever meet. If you want to find out firsthand yourself, then the thing to do is start listening to: The Greatest Generation podcast (And Greatest Trek too for New Trek shows). Heavy doses of body parts and fart jokes included, the pod is consistently hilarious. Occasional live tours as well and even live-stream performances between tours. Finally starting the Enterprise series with Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager in the stacks. The hosts, Ben
-
Mac-n-OrbLove itCan’t get enough. Started with Voyager - NextGen - DS9. The absolute best/fun podcast. Adam and Ben do such a great job at balancing industry knowledge/ Trek geekery/ Raunchy fun. Their other shows are amazing too.
-
JoelDelanoThe Entrepreneur Rides AgainI didn't know I had been waiting 30 years for this, but this is the best way to revisit a show I saw every episode of as a child and was a little bit embarrased to admit. Wry observations from Six Bay to the Drunk Shimoda Memorial Corner are hilarious. An update some 8 years later… Still great! For assorted reasons I had limited access to and didn’t watch much or any DS9 and Voyager. Thanks to Ben and Adam, I’ve now watched both and it was a delight! I’d only heard bad things about ST: Enterprise, but I’m sure it’ll be fun with Adam and Ben along for the ride.
-
TimmicornProbably the only way to listen to a Star Trek PodcastSome time ago I decided that I might want to give a TNG review podcast a try. I had real reservations about the prospect of taking a Star Trek podcast seriously but thought I’d look any way. Then I stumbled on the title, “The Greatest Generation”. This silly and irreverent title instantly made me laugh out loud and give it a try and the show doesn’t disappoint. If love trek but can’t take it seriously, this podcast is for you…. Unless it’s not. But it should be.

Faith0000000001I’m here because of The Greatest Generation’s VOY S7 E15 1:13:11I felt personally called out as I listen to AT LEAST 6 episodes a week. Hilarious guys, great commentary, very cathartic. Voyager has such a special place in my heart, it’s so nice to listen to other people love it, too (except for Tuvix. We don’t talk about Tuvix).
-
SoaDMTGguyIf you’re going to do a war movie podcast...Do it with the guy you fired because you were too scared some internet nobodies would give you bad reviews! Losers.
