Excellent subject that coaches deal with during the course of a game and season. I like what was mentioned about giving players roles on the bench while cheering on the successes of their teammates. It is a numbers game as you want to keep players who are engaged and know their specific role on the team. This subject needs to be addressed more often. Thank you for this episode.

Love this podcast found out about it by just search for coaching tips because I got inspired to one time become a head coach. Right now my third year as a rec ball coach but with my past achievements of being a top athlete in my state growing up but a freak knee injury in college finally after 20yrs and coaching my 9yr old I got something I can use my talent towards with training the youth and coaching

I’m a first time coach starting next week for St Eugene’s 8th grade basketball in Santa Rosa and found this podcast in attempt to prepare for the season. In just two episodes I’ve listened to, I have soaked up a ton of good information. Side note: Calistoga is in Napa County, 25 min east of me. Fyi, French Laundry is overrated.

I’m in my second year of coaching JV/HS basketball and I’m also in my second year of college so listening to this podcast while walking to class or driving to practice has given me lots of great info and tips!

No doubt you know your stuff, Coach. But so do your guests. Let them get on a roll. To be frank, you’re an interruptor. I know you have to get to your questions, and I know you have knowledge to share, but let your guests go longer. The best way I can review this is simple, “I’d get frustrated as a guest on your show.”

Teach Hoops and Coach Unplugged has been beneficial for my growth as coach. I’ve been coaching for 4 years now and as a young coach I’ve learned so much from Coach Collins, teach hoops, 1v1 calls, office hours, and these podcasts! I listen to these daily in order to get better. As a coach, if you want to get better, this is the place to do so. You’ll thank yourself later!

I have been listening for a few months and have gone back and listen to some of the previous episodes as well. I feel that coach Steve does an outstanding job varying the topics and making The shows interesting.I like the fact that he brings in so many different types of coaches from various parts of the country. I am an experienced coach from New Jersey who is currently not coaching a team. I have a daughter in high school who is playing at a pretty high level and I just want to enjoy that experience. With that said, i have found this show to be useful just to keep myself sharp and to hear some different perspectives regarding coaching life and basketball. I would highly recommend the show for anyone that loves basketball and enjoys coaching young people through positive thoughts and energy. After every episode, I look at my ‘Lifelong Learning Hoops’ running notepad and there are at least 3 tidbits that I’ve taken down. As a college coach, I’m always looking for different phrases, terminology, actions that will help our program improve. The amount of quality content Steve has put out is unreal!
