It's Ari. I truly think he lives to speak ill of the Buckeyes. Glad Bill is moving on.

    Regret not rating sooner
I chose 4 to 6 with A&B to have the advantage over my sophomore(now junior) Buckeye when chatting football. The podcast is not only informative but also entertaining during my 55 minute Long Island expressway commute. And now I ALWAYS have a Red Barron Pizza in the freezer in case of an emergency. I will definitely be on the lookout for Bill, join us for dinner, our treatā€”your choice in CBUS. Will be there And Ari, Iā€™m definitely a fanā€” After some of my toughest days working in transplant surgery your humor and sass on the ride home is like a glass of Macallan 18, relaxing.

    Recruiting
Why canā€™t Ohio state lock in elite secondary recruits. This is the second year in a row this has happened. Also why is Carnell tate no longer a 5 star. He is currently the 10th ranked receiver in the class.

    Playoff Question
Hey! Love the show and have been listening for a few years now. Was interested to get you take on something. Obviously playoff expansion is inevitable, but I agree with what you guys have said many times that most years it is hard to find 4 deserving teams let alone 12 or 16. And I hate the idea of having a committee select that many teams let alone rank them. Here is my idea: - winner of each power 5 conferences gets in automatically (assuming they still exist) - committee exists to select a 6th team (could be a non-champ, group of 5 or ND) and ranks the teams 1-6 (champs could be the 6th spot) - bottom 4 teams play each other at the home site of the higher seeded team on Army/Navy Saturday so there will be a noon, 3:30, and 7pm game that day - losers go back into the normal bowl pool and get to play another game, winners advance to essentially the same 4 team format we have today I think this take a lot of the power out of the committeeā€™s hands and puts it back on the field. You want in, win your conference. There would be almost no penalty for scheduling tough non-conf games, so hopefully weā€™d see more of those. Thanks! Kyle

Defensive front 4, Larry Johnson and a beast!
3 questions (1) letā€™s say we know nothing about fall practice and itā€™s game 1 vs ND and either of these two options runs onto the field as our starting front 4 on the defensive line. Whatā€™s you guys reaction to both Harrison jr, cage, Vincent, JTT or Sawyer Sawyer, JTT, Hall and Williams (2) Eventually LJ will retire which will be a monumental loss for the program from a teacher and recruiter aspect. After last season I think that Coach Day has learned his lesson when it comes to hiring the right assistant coaches. But I feel like Larry who is a legend has to be replaced with another legend or is that not the case or if not a legend who? (3) a couple defensive recruits seem to be fading away from us recently. over the past 4 cycles what defensive recruit miss still haunts you both til this day? Mines is Bryan Bresse out of clemson, he is a beast!

Thought I did this forever ago
Hey guys, sorry I am just now doing this, I thought I did when you guys dropped the show a few years ago but apparently not. Love the work you guys do, been a fan since 2014. Gonna do the lords work and house a cherry coke on draft in Dolla ABā€™s honor now as penance. Much love

    Best Ohio State football podcast
If there was a WWE Battle Royal style match but all the participants were the reporters on the OSU beat, who would win? Would you two team up to eliminate the other reporters? Or would it be every man for himself? Would there be an alliance made with Doug from Buckeye Talk due to your past history with him? (Elimination occurs being thrown over the top rope, with both feet hitting the floor.) The winner is the undisputed champion of the Ohio State football beat.

    I want an apology
Ari made a premature statement that OSU would not out together a championship level class. He was and still is wrong. He needs to eat crow. Still a five star podcast and still a listener. Ari - do better.

    An Elite Ohio State Podcast
Thank you Bill and Ari for a great podcast. I try to listen to every episode. Bill, you have an incredible podcasting voice, truly one of the best out there. Additionally, you are a great leader in Ohio State news. Ari, your hot takes keep the show running and entertaining every week. The best is when they come true, which despite what people may say, happens way more often than you get credit for. Appreciate the show, and I hope it keeps going for many years to come. My question for both of you, is how does the addition of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten impact the national recruiting landscape? Does it help or hurt the Buckeyes in their search for elite talent nationwide?

Dolla B sighting at Grandview Staufs
Saw Bill in his throwback Phillies hat yesterday and it prompted me to leave a 5 star review How do you expect out of scheduling to change once the playoff expands? Assuming Big 10 gets rid of divisions, can we expect more ND-OSU like matchups each year? Hopefully they get rid of the 15 year wait between scheduling and playing the games.

    5 star!
Great podcast. Enjoy listening every week. Thought it might get worse when Ari left the osu beat but actually like it better with an ā€œoutsiderā€ perspective. Quick question: Bill mentioned Pat Narduzzi at the latest camp. Is that common for other coaches to attend camps of other teams, especially power 5 coaches? Are they invited, friendly with osu staff or is it pretty much accepted that any coach can attend? Thanks and keep up the good work!

    Ariā€™s recruiting concerns
True or false: OSU recruiting will be fine if it signs more than one top-50 out-of-state defensive player.

    Love the Podcast
You guys do a great job covering everything Ohio State football. Very informative and easy listen! Bill, you have a great radio voice. Ari, I find the food talk/grabass to be quite entertaining so keep it up. Coach Frye seems to be having some of the same trouble bringing in the top national tackles that Coach Stud was having, even thought Frye seems much more interested in recruiting than Stud was. Is this just a football program perception issue, rather than a coach issue, that will need to be changed through development & OSU lineman going high in the draft before the big time tackle recruits call Columbus home?
  • New Albany Buckeye
    Best Buckeye Podcast
I am the biggest Ohio State slappy you will ever meet, but listen to this show in large part because Ari is willing to offer a critical or dissenting perspective, even if itā€™s not what I want to hear. I think we should all get a little better at embracing different viewpoints (not just in sports). Question: If during the Ohio State vs Toledo game this season, both Ari and Bill had to play every snap at one position (not on special teams), Ryan Day could choose which positions to place you in but the opposing coaches knew going in with a week to prepare, would Ohio State still win? What positions would Day choose?

    OSU
In my opinion itā€™s Bama and OSU and then everyone else in the sport for this season. Bryce Young is really good and Will Anderson might be the best defensive player Iā€™ve seen but how good does the OSU matchup in a potential title game with Bama?

Perspective and analysis is awesome. Hate when Buckeye podcasts are too in love with team and donā€™t provide objectivity or criticism when itā€™s due. I want to know how the program compares nationally, not how much the host(s) love Buckeye football. Billā€™s voice is like velvet underpants and Ariā€™s ok too!

    5 stars always
Another great pod this week. Ari I mentioned in my Andy Staples review youā€™re on my hero list. Even if I donā€™t agree w you your takes are gold on every topic. Stop overpaying for bottled water if any sort as well. Bill, line question for you. I know you said youā€™re not worried about them pulling a top lineman in this class, shouldnā€™t there be a real urgency for a sure fire tackle though? Thanks fellas and keep up the great work!

    Great Podcast With Great People
I want to say that I love Bill and Ari. I even love what I donā€™t like about them. I am a psychotherapist and I want Ari to know that while people say they are annoyed with you or donā€™t like your takes, they need you to be able to enjoy their discontent. All OSU fans are narcissistic in the sense that if you arenā€™t joining us in inflating the OSU ego you are poking at our inner most fear that we arenā€™t ever going to be good enough. Ari says the things that many dare not say and is punished for it. Bill balances the system by soothing the ego of the fan with calm but honest reflections that allow us to integrate Ariā€™s opinions into the larger context providing a path for us to ease our anxieties without avoiding the truth. The priest & prophet.

    Ariā€¦
Turned the pod off today in the first 5 minutes because Ari made multiple points that were flat out wrong all while he was trying to say people donā€™t understand what he means. Just stop. Bill, do the show yourself. Youā€™re why weā€™re here anyways.

    Hartline next OSU HC?
As Iā€™m typing this, Brian Hartline just landed a third top-50 player for the class of 2023. Whatever little doubt remained that Hartline wasnā€™t the best position recruiter in college football is surely gone by now. My question is: how long is Hartlineā€™s success sustainable for him to remain the WR coach at Ohio State? You guys have discussed this very question before, but it seems like Ohio State is going to have to keep pulling up the Brinks truck to keep Hartline around. Will they keep doing so until Ryan Day moves on? Will Hartline become a perennial assistant and stay as the WRs coach at tOSU for a decade plus? Or will he jump for an offensive coordinator/head coaching job soon? Thanks guys - from subscriber Campbell S.

If you can get past Billā€™s bad podcast voice, this podcast is one of the few focused on the Buckeyes. Theyā€™re pretty knowledgeable and I find Ari entertaining. Be prepared to hear a lot of off-topic stuff though

    Question
Is there any chance the defense gets worse or is the same this year? Everyone seems to be too optimistic just like pre season last year. Color me skeptical. Great show yā€™all!

    Mailbag question: Orlando pace
Bill and Ari : I was having the ā€œbest player in CFB historyā€ debate with a pal recently and my argument for Orlando pace was simple : no player in college football history was individually better at their job on the field than Orlando Pace was at his. Whatā€™s say you?

The best OSU football podcast around
Question for the podcast: are lineman 1 on 1s in no pads the most unbalanced camp drill out there? I donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen a single video from camp season of an offensive lineman winning a rep yet. Love the show and have been an avid listener since subscribing to the athletic two years ago.

    I Canā€™t Take It Anymore
Ari over pronounces every single word he utters. Iā€™m done. And every show ends with a discussion of restaurants most of us will never visit. Too self congratulatory for my taste.

Never take a food Rec or OSU recruiting knowledge from Ari

    Ari is an acquired taste
This is a fine podcast that is theoretically about all things Ohio State football. Ari and Bill do delve into every aspect of the teamā€¦ when they arenā€™t talking about Ariā€™s wedding, pizza joints, frozen pizza, McDonaldā€™s Filetā€™oā€™Fish sandwich, burgers, fries, and Ariā€™s theory that Ohio Stateā€™s recruiting is having a rough season. I never miss an episode. So, questions for Bill and Ari - rank the Big Ten campuses from top to bottom in terms of: 1) food scene and quality of said scene 2) bar scene 3) best destination to visit based on what you see along the way. Second question: If Dwayne Haskins had stayed at Ohio State one more season, what impact would it have had on the qb room from that moment through today?

    NFL Dynasty Draft?
Should I draft Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, or Chris Olave? I have an up coming Fantasy Football Dynasty Draft and will be able to pick between the best WRs in the class, but I canā€™t decide who I prefer as a pro. My heart says Olave, but brain tells me itā€™s between Wilson and Jamo. What do you guys think? Whoā€™s going to be the best pro? And did Hartline mess up letting Jamo go? Thanks šŸ™

Made an account to give you 5*
Bill is undoubtedly the best reporter on the beat. Subbed to the Athletic when he joined. I have an inside baseball question for you both - after listening to the Knowles press conference, I do not understand the hype for Kourt Williams (KW) that is running rampantly through some parts of the OSU beat. It seems like reporters often ask extremely leading questions to confirm their preconceive notions about the team. Super exaggerated example - Reporter 1 Q: Jim, I love KW. Do you love KW? Why do you love KW? Even though he has never started, I think he could win the safety or LB job. Where will he be starting this fall? A: KW is great. Smart, great vision, leader (insert coach speak here). Heā€™ll be playing safety. Reporter 2 Q: Hold on a sec, Ronnie Hickman is pretty good. Would they ever play together? A: Yeah I love RH too. Smart, great vision, leader (insert coach speak here). Iā€™d love to have them playing together if possible. 90% of the OSU beat the following day - Let me tell you why we are kicking RH to free safety, benching Josh Proctor, and clearing a path KW. Why not instead ask - Q: Jim, looks like thereā€™s a lot of potential starters for the three safety positions. Where is everyone starting out? Anyone catching your eye this off-season or on the film from last year? Does this question not provide enough information? Do you not get the quotes you need to write a story? I am genuinely trying to understand more about the press conference strategy here.

You guys are hilarious - consistently the most entertaining podcast I tune into. I love the banter and how much legitimate insight and technical football conversation is had amongst the jokes. The bit about Thomas Edison being alien absolutely killed me.

5 stars if you read my question
Is the 2023 recruiting class the most important class for Ohio State so that they do not slip and fall into a Tier 2 team under Ryan Day? Meaning they fall below the likes of Georgia and Alabama.

    Fall from grace
I really love this show and have been a fan all the way back from the buckeye talk days. That being said this show is sadly only a shell of what it has been and could be. I encourage everyone to listen but youā€™re not getting anything special anymore. No show is distinguishable. Maybe itā€™s just an off season slump but they talk about the same 4 fast food places like theyā€™re gospel and the football talk which is still the best part of the show has devolved into recycled background noise. Not to kick Ari but he is quickly becoming a generic woke passive aggressive angry loud hot take artist who laughs at his own jokes. Bill doesnā€™t lean into what heā€™s passionate about enough. Neither sound like they care or want to talk about the buckeyes. I get being objective but they just sound disinterested with the team. I would love to see Bill do more analytical break downs and use his brain. Ari is a perfect co host and is genuinely funny. The show just needs more effort and creativity. Iā€™ll always listen, I just donā€™t get as excited as I use to. Love you guys.

    Best Duo
Ari and Bill provide the greatest Ohio state podcast there is. Whether theyā€™re talking about Ohio state, fast food, or adverbs, it is 100% guaranteed Iā€™m listening to the entire episode. Whatever they discuss is pure entertainment. Bill, shoutout to you for being the most technically knowledgeable on the beat about all things football. Every breakdown is truly great. Ari, youā€™re an incredible big picture theory thinker that I absolutely love. Thatā€™s a heck of a duo. 4to6 for the win.
