I started listening to the episode on the first X-Men movie. The first 15 minutes was spent on the prologue where young Erik Lehnsherr (later to become Magneto) is a prisoner at a Nazi death camp with his parents. In my opinion, it’s one of the best openings in a superhero movie. It is a tragically visceral scene that immediately gives insight, understanding, and sympathy for the eventual villain of the movie. It informs Magneto’s motives, sets up the Martin Luther King v Malcom X like struggle between Professor X and Magneto, and illuminates the irony that Erik, now as Magneto, has become the tyrant, the oppressor, and the butcherer of the innocent, much like the Nazi’s that killed his parents. But the podcasters miss these points almost entirely and instead prattle “politically correct” nonsense about how it was disrespectful to the memory of the Holocaust. How is it disrespectful?! Do these podcasters understand the phrase “never forget”? We should never forget the Holocaust and the capacity of man’s evil toward one another, and having this in a superhero movie reminds even teenagers of this tragic reality. The podcasters then move to the scene of the debate on mutant registration. They say that it didn’t seem very realistic in 2000, but is much more realistic now with the “tea party” movement. Once again, they are clueless. The tea party movement was about LIMITING government and its power. Sadly, the podcasters appear to be mere simpletons regurgitating pc propaganda, a cacophony of cymbal banging in a vacuous wind tunnel. At this point, I stopped the podcast to search for something more intelligent and entertaining.

I’ve been listening to Now Playing since the beginning and the shows just get better and better. Arnie, Jacob and Stewart have great viewpoints and opinions on the movies they revue, even making me see some movies in a new light. They have a good time together discussing the movies and Arnie and Stewart have such a long friendship that it makes the banter all the better. You need to listen to this show if you love movie!!!!

Leaving this review here since your avengers retrospective disappeared. Do a little research on pronunciation! It's pronounced Door-mah-moo! Amon-tee-ya-do! Geez!

This installment in the "Now Playing Marvel Movie Retrospective" is a leap forward in podcasting evolution. Do you know what happens to a film-lover when they listen to this retrospective series?

I started listening to the X-Men First Class episode, and stuck around for the other X-Men eps, Marvel eps, Karate Kid, Green Lantern and more! I agree with most of their view points, but it's great to hear them call out so many different aspects about these films that I may have not know or never thought of! "Now Playing" is now my favorite film review podcast! Keep up the work guys!

This was an interesting review, this is my first time listening to a full movie review and let's just say I was impressed! I wanted to listen to it. You guys do a good job of covering All parts of the movie. this really made me want to watch the movie again and see the things you guys very clearly pointed out that I missed. One little correction, if I may, Caleb Landry Jones isn't Irish, he was born in Texas. In an interview he said that he was told to create the character of Banshee as he wanted to, and he seemed most comfortable with being American. I strangely seem to be the only one who knows anything about him. It annoys me that no one bothers to look these things up. Otherwise, good review

I love the Now Playing series ! Stumbled upon them a couple months ago, and now Im hooked. I look forward to listening to them when I workout, run , or on road trips. It refreshes my memory on movies and pop culture , and re ignites my interest in movies I haven't seen. LOVE the show, keep up the good work !

I love the Now Playing Podcast. It seems like each retrospective series is better than the last. They go very in depth without ever getting dull. I am sure I will be re-listening to this X-Men series many times in the future.

I have discovered the X Men series through Now Playing. I was not a fan of the comic and never watched the films in initial release. I love Now Playing podcast so much and have been an avid listener since 2009 and their hilarious and insightful discussions are both interesting and SO entertaining!! Recommend!!!!

Great podcast series! It's got me to re-visit the X-Men films and wanting to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine, although I will never touch Generation X. 5 out of 5.

I have listened to a lot of movie review podcasts and Now Playing is head and shoulders above them all. The variety of the hosts, the format, the fun discussions, excellent production values (cannot be understated how good this sounds), and the whole tone of the thing is excellent. A MUST LISTEN for any movie fan and especially for fans of genre films. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Hey guys I love the show keep it up. I agree Gen X is an unwanted dump of a movie. But yes I watched it when it came on and even recorded it and almost watched it a second time.

I love your podcasts especially the horror movie ones. I really like how you speak your minds and that I can relate with most of your opinions. You should really do I know what you did last summer and it's sequels I really want to know what you have to say about them.

Out of the many many hidden pods beyond the so called iTunes top 50, lies one of my choice movie pods, Now Playing Presents. A fun lengthy dissection of Film series that almost always have wained by their latest entry. These guys perform much needed autopsies on the endless sequels and reboots and it's good fun listening!

I came into these podcasts as a skeptic. I've heard more than my share of really bad movie podcasts. I have to admit that I was blown away. The quality of the podcasts and the humor are first rate. Even on movies that I hate I have to listen to the podcasts. Not only that but they have awakened my love for many of the movies they have covered. I recommend this podcats for geeks and movie lovers.

These guys know their stuff and listening to their podcasts have made bad movies entertaining and good movies even better.

My title is also my review...this podcast is one of the best I've ever listened to, and their Marvel series is off to a great start with the Marvel Misfits. Like movies? Like commentary about movies? If so, this podcast is for you!!

I love the interaction between the three commentators and I surprisngly find that someone always sees the films the way I did. A blast!

I've been listening to Now Playing since their Star Trek Retrospective a couple of years ago. They are some of the most entertaining movie reviews on the web. It's a great way to look back at and poke fun at some of your favorite movies. And even if the films being reviewed are terrible, it's even more fun to listen.
