majkPPSA great talk and a loving perspective on baseball. An interesting and entertaining talk about all sorts of things, plus a caring perspective on what’s going on in baseball, not uncritical.
-
yoga.ahainteresting takesInteresting takes but also kind of a fair weather fan for someone doing a baseball podcast.... But maybe that’s the point. Your take on consuming information is interesting and helpful.

The Real Zen Boy100% NegativityProbably the most negative person I’ve ever heard. Offended by everything, negative about everything, and nothing intelligent to say on any of it.
-
k3nn3lly⚾️⚾️⚾️Such a pleasant perspective on baseball

Chuy ValasquezI Always Get SomethingRhea Butcher is one of the great philosophers of our time. Even though I am not a baseball enthusiast, I always deeply enjoy this podcast for all of the thoughtful discussions and explorations on life that Rhea shares with us.

Green Tea FrappuccinoPlease do vote!I was incredibly disappointed when Rhea Butcher said in a recent episode that it’s okay if you don’t vote. If you don’t vote then you are letting other people make crucial decisions that will affect your life and your loved one’s lives. Please vote in the best interest of those most vulnerable in our society. To not vote is to be so privileged that it doesn’t matter what the outcome is, and subsequently who ends up in power, and this does matter to the majority of Americans, because the outcome of this election will positively or negatively affect our lives. So please vote on November 3, 2020.

Coach Peter JPainfulTried listening to this as it was under baseball category and this was brutal. Totally political and presented nothing but one person’s depressing and pessimistic views of the world. Complains about people only caring about themselves and the whole thing is about themself.

random customer 2018So whiny...All the host does is complain. Do yourself a favor and just skip this podcast.

MuteSuccessMy Fave PodcastThis podcast brings me joy! Listening to Rhea and guests talk about what they’re passionate about is grounding and wonderful. I truly appreciate Rhea’s take from a baseball standpoint, on so many social issues that face us in all arenas of life. Thank you Rhea for what you do, your work is important!

JdibheSelf loathingGet over yourself. I listened for two minutes and decided I didn’t want to listen to a person whine. She sounds like a college student who needs a safe space because her exam is too rough

cierramc🖤🖤🖤🖤the absolute best! always worth the listen

BLS207Baseball and more!Come for the baseball, stay for the honest and true social commentary and discussion of real humanity that comes through from the host. They're a great human that understands baseball, the greater world, and how the two interact

Lsv1346Loved the Live showI just finished listening to the live episode and i have to say its one of my favorite episodes. I started listening at the beginning of this season and i’ve really liked all the eps but i liked the different perspectives and the banter. Would love to hear more like that if possible. I know scheduling can be hard. Just wanted to say that i was so hype to find this podcast with a non-male person talking a out baseball. As a women whos loved baseball for many years it can often be a little hard to find other women or non binary people who are also interested so that makes me really happy as well!

ellenlindnaThis podcast is everythingHonestly I didn't know how good podcasts could be until a friend recommended Three Swings. Rhea Butcher is wonderful partly because they are so informed, thoughtful and open-hearted, but also because I had never heard anyone who I identified with talk about baseball, ever. Thanks to Forever Dog and the sponsors for their part in making Three Swings possible. Three Swings is the best.

tennesseeme83Zen and the Art of Loving BaseballNever thought I’d listen to a baseball podcast because I don’t know diddly-squat about sports. But for me, Three Swings is about life. Rhea brings awareness to detrimental cultural biases that exist both on the field and off, while maintaining their love of the game. Addressing these tough and divisive topics with lovingkindness is the All-American sport I’ve been waiting for.
-
BaconPlusI liked it, so I Liked It.As someone who was never really into sports (still not, truth be told) I've always found it interesting to hear people's actual opinions about sports when they're legitimately excited about or fans of the sport more than just a team. Add to that that it's Rhea Butcher & they get guests sometimes like Paul F Tompkins, Greg Proops, & people within the sports world of baseball (men's & women's baseball), every episode is an interesting meditation on life & its many facets. And Rhea's consternation with Fantasy Baseball stress is an enjoyable part of the process.

shakeyjake138Finally, a sports podcast for me.Baseball, politics, and queer theory? F*** yes, count me in! Go M’s!!
-
A. TrueBuy me some peanuts and Cracker JacksRhea Butcher knows baseball, plays baseball, loves baseball, and adds an important perspective to sports talk. Hey ESPN, MLB Network-this is the voice you’re missing.
-
Carlotta ValdezWelcome back!Glad you're back in session! Please don't ditch the Dodgers -- LA fans need you! Love from Silver Lake.
-
ChazbergYou understandAs someone who loves both sports and comedy, it is very rare to find such a sublime intersection of the two as this. Plus, this show gives a voice to folks you would never hear from on a typical sports podcast—folks like, you know, people other than straight males. Rhea might overuse the word 'bonkers', but otherwise she's a treat.
-
somewingedthingAn antidoteListening to Rhea's take on baseball is like healing from all the terrible sports coverage that dominates. Couple that with their ability to seamlessly incorporate and address social and political issues, and you've got a podcast that you should never miss.
-
GraniteBrantA great podcast about baseball and life!Rhea is wonderful and I’m always looking forward to new episodes.
-
JlynnCO2018More philosophyLove Rhea’s discussion on politics, kindness, meditation.
-
sour1999Great for Thoughts I’m baseball and lifeReally love how Rhea seamlessly weaves thoughts on actual baseball teams and games into thoughts on life and how to be a human being in 21st century America.
-
Never_Not_ListeningMy Favorite Baseball PodcastSmart, funny, and a fresh perspective. Rhea really knows her stuff.
-
goodieroeHip hip Horay for Rhea!I love Rhea's podcast. It's been great to share with my partner, who doesn't care about baseball. Because Rhea doesn't just talk about baseball she talks about all the issues surrounding it. Wheather it's overt racism, domestic abuse and mental health. As much as I enjoy the baseball tonight podcast, my eyes light up when I see a new episode of Three Swings, because I know I'll be challenged and entertained at the same time.

UniversalTravalerI’m a Cubs fan and I still give Rhea five starsIt’s so nice to hear another queer voice talking about a sport I love. I relate to having a complex relationship with the team I grew up with (someday I’ll vocalize my white hot rage at Joe Ricketts). But I feel like Rhea is so loose and so open that even without those very specific similarities, I’d be on board. It’s nice to hear someone knowledgeable about the game who is also learning (and thereby teaching us) in real time. Rhea’s investment in the game helps me to feel competitive, excited, emotional, moved and frustrated with them — sometimes over the course of one episode. You can’t ask for any more than that from a host. I also appreciate that while Rhea is not afraid to call out players/organizations/fan groups for saying or doing garbage person things, they bring up things like forgiveness and the importance of conversations when warranted. Who would have thought I’d fly through all of these episodes so quickly. You probably did, Rhea. You understand.
-
rivers3cpWinnerRhea is knowledgeable, hilarious and kind. Her love of baseball is infectious and heart warming. ~Great podcast regardless of your team affiliation. (Go Giants!) She's dynamite on PYHT as well.
-
MR. MADDSBaseball NewbieI didn’t know anything about baseball before I started listening to this, but thanks to Rhea’s political/social/cultural commentary I’m suddenly wayyy more invested than I ever imagined I’d be. Excellent podcast, excellent host!
-
on3pa55Absolute DelightI could never get into baseball as a fan, but hearing someone talk about it with such enthusiasm and passion is an absolute joy to listen to! Rhea is a charming and socially mindful host who makes someone such as myself get into baseball! They make this podcast informative and fun to listen to even if you're not a big baseball fan
-
Mistletoe79A Decent Baseball PodcastMost of the time I enjoy the podcast and wish I could rate the show higher but Rhea Butcher needs to chill it on demonizing the NY Yankees and their fans. It’s not funny or cute, it’s sour grapes and snobbery.
-
applek8Woke sports talkLove this podcast. I love sports but have turned off because I don't hear/see voices like mine. I haven't found a dialogue about them like this. Rhea's passion is infectious and inspiring. I learned and felt and want to watch baseball again. Thank you!!
-
JulesGVGreat range of topicsRhea covers current weekly happenings in the MLB, shares cool baseball history tidbits, and gets into stats, politics in the sport, and players’ performance on and off the field. Rhea is so clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the sport, which makes it extra enjoyable to listen to them. Feels like chatting with a fellow baseball fan friend. This podcast rocks.
-
Inner CanuckA weekly chat with your adult baseball buddyI love seeing the notification that a new episode of Three Swings is available. Rhea is warm and insightful, and they don’t shy away from aspects of the game that need to be addressed. Less than 6 months in and I’ve been introduced to some amazing people working their butts off in the sport, as well as just enjoyed listening to fans talk about what they (and I) love. You know how you’ll follow a team a little more closely because your friend is a fan? I’m now an Astros fan who always keeps their eye out for what’s happening with LA because my podcast pal Rhea is...pretty invested in them. Thanks for the great work! It’s appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed.
-
eeshellBrilliant baseball and life podcast!Rhea makes my day every time they drop knowledge on all things baseball, the married life, queer life, women’s sports, and everything in between. I drive 150 miles a day for work and listening to this wonderful podcast seriously makes my life better. I sincerely thank Rhea and their team for bringing this kind of joy on the regular. Also, as a queer brown woman married to a white woman, Rhea knows whats up on the social justice tip. Thank you for your podcast and please keep it coming!
-
Goat BobMuch appreciatedIntelligent insights and angles of the game from history to who is pitching tonight .
-
Blake GmailBaseball from a different perspectiveRhea offers a fresh perspective to a game I have loved my whole life. There is some political talk in the show and I’m very okay with it but understand it may not be for everyone. I always move it to the top of my “up next” as soon as it comes into my feed. Just listen to an episode - I recommend the episode with Stacey May Fowles, Greg Proops, and Paul F Tompkins episodes - and if you like it, you like it.
-
MaeamianVery goodRhea talks about the heart of baseball and really hones in on what makes the game special, and this podcast is also the source of my new favorite radio station!
-
okfayetedWhat a Relief!Humor, baseball, life, social commentary, horror ( save 2nd base? ) sigh. I need to have this like vitamin C or vegetables, not that those things are validating but~ you get it.
-
cvl1103Home run!I started listening to this podcast because I’m a big fan of Rhea. My baseball knowledge is pretty basic from when my brother played little league when we were kids but I love sports in general. I’ve learned so much about baseball and think they are the perfect person to make this podcasts for everyone from huge baseball fans to people who just want to learn more about this sport.

Veganarchafeminist3 strikes, yr out and that's a good thing!I was about to title this "Knocks it outta the park!", but I see a virtually similar title was already used. Plus I'm into pitching and extra innings, so let's get all the outs! First heard about Rhea on the Burn It All Down podcast. Heard about Stacey May Fowles on Leveling the Playing Field podcast. Natural next step was to listen to Three Swings. Love it! Now I'm no longer in the closet about being a baseball fan and fear losing punk rock points for supporting such an institution, etc. Though for real I've grown up and its vital to make said institutions more inclusive, amirite? I just need to cope and listening to the Mets is my (almost) daily self-care. Now this podcast will be part of my weekly cleanse!
-
AmyE314Baseball is Better!I really enjoy Rhea’s discussions with others about baseball and other things. Podcast would benefit from less self-chatter at the beginning, I have taken to skipping that part. Get to the good stuff! I don’t personally play fantasy, so some random comments are not relevant.
-
AjlovesbbqA+I love this podcast! Rhea is my favorite kind of baseball fan: here for any and all of it! I love her enthusiasm for the game! LISTEN TO IT IT IS GOOD
-
SB1986zSo Much FunI love Rhea's stand up and their very conversational take in this podcast. I am getting back into baseball and this has been a fun way to hear how diehard baseball fans think. Thanks, Rhea for keeping me entertained!
-
Caitlin718Thank you Rhea! Three swings rules!Long story short, this podcast is incredible and you should listen to it! I’ve been meaning to write a review for a minute but I usually listen on the subway and don’t have service lol I first was introduced to you via the Put Your Hands Together podcast a few years ago and I was like yessssss queer folx doing standup! Every time you mentioned baseball during a set it’d often be followed by a comment like “not too many baseball fans here ey?” (Paraphrasing sorry lol) and I’d be like no no go MEEEE IM A FAN! When you announced Likely mad as hell I flipped out and despite my Mets having a dreadful season (and my forever grudge against Utley for breaking Ruben Tejada’s leg 😜) that World Series became one of my favorites because I got to listen to you talk about it. (And also I mean some great mf baseball!) I can’t tell you how much it means to me as a queer woman to listen to another queer person (who I already really loved from hearing their standup) talk about baseball. Thank you thank you thank you for doing this podcast, even while you’re exhausted af on tour. I’m a member of the 7 Line Army (those crazy Mets fans in orange who sometimes travel to games) and I’ve been telling everyone about Three Swings at our outings! I hope I get to see you on tour next time you’re in Brooklyn/you should come to a 7 Line outing sometime! It’s quite an experience haha Thank you again!!!

myc001Zesty! Brilliant! Bracing! Much more than just baseball! This podcast is great fun! I never miss it. Indispensable for Rhea Butcher Fans. I played sandlot ball as a kid but have never watched more than a few innings per game, whether in the stands for live local teams or broadcasts on radio, TV or the InterNet. Don't know all the hometowns of the teams or any of their players (when I started following baseball, the Dodger & Giants were still in NY, the A's in Kansas City, Roger Maris was the hot new player nudging Mickey Mantle aside & I haven't kept up since then), but Rhea & her guests pull interesting insights out of their discussions of team strategies & personal stories that make the stats & facts salt on the salad.
-
PnottsYes to everything about this pod!Just love Rhea! Great podcast about baseball and so much more❤️⚾️
-
TakeABookAlongPure baseball, no patriarchyThis podcast reminds me of all the reasons I grew up loving the game: the crack of the bat, the beautiful geometry of a ball in flight against the sky, red dirt, green grass, blue sky, good friends, the sun on my legs. Pure baseball, with none of the patriarchy.

ChristianDior1What Every Fan NeedsBaseball is so much more than a game - it's the history of America. You need to listen to this podcast for the best baseball coverage - of its present, past, and future.
