Bmax147DisappointedI have followed Natasha for a great number of years, and I follow properties she covers for the mere experience of being able to listen to her podcasts. I was incredibly disappointed, however, when during the last episode covering the song of Susannah, she spends a long time speaking of why widespread murder is the right thing to do. Miles is actually the moderate one in this conversation, attempting to say “well I don’t think it’s very good for the person pulling the trigger” to which she has several arguments of why they should. I never thought, in 2021, it would be necessary to point out why murder, hatred, and violence are not good things. I’m really sad to see her represent some of the same views she once claimed to stand against.

Fancy PantaloSPOILERS AHEAD I wish I was listening to this when it was madeThere are so many things I want to comment on but if I commented now you’d be like that was 3 years ago. I am rereading DT right now and enjoying having a podcast to listen along with (something not available the first time I read them over a decade ago). Two things that no one cares about now probably but I feel the need to shout about for my own satisfaction. Now that you’ve read them you know the preacher woman scene in Tull is entirely unnecessary and the fact he kept that in the revised version is just so cringe and frustrating I could write an essay about it. Your original take on it in the podcast is right on the money. The other thing is more to your cohost. Not everyone thinks Insomnia is a snooze fest! I know tons of people do but I read that book in a day and I loved that the protagonist is an old man. It seemed fresh and cool to me when I read it. I’m still on the episodes discussing the first book so I’m excited to listen through and hear your final takeaways. Long days and pleasant nights to both of you.

RaptorKitchenExactly what I wantedStumbled across this Dark Tower podcast as I have just reached book 7 and I absolutely adore it. Thank you for sharing it with the world.

@cogdrizzle12Not for Dark Tower FansIf you are a fan of The Dark Tower series, this is not the podcast for you. While the authors of this podcast speak well and seem very intelligent, the podcast in its entirety is mostly tangential and the social commentary quickly becomes unbearable. To be fair, the host obviously hadn’t read series ahead of recording and only read the chapters being discussed for each episode. While The Dark Tower series certainly has its problems, they unfortunately serve as the driving force of this particular podcast. The positives I can say for this podcast are that the hosts are very funny without trying too hard to be and have a lot of literary knowledge. Although I did not care for the treatment of this series, I will likely check out some of the other podcasts on Unspoiled. Long days and pleasant nights.

HussMangStarts great, couldn’t tolerate at the endIt’s clear at the end they miss the entire premise of the story. They start out very entertaining. By the 6th book the political commentary is nearly unbearable, and the complaining about the last book I finally just skipped. If you love this series, I suggest not listening past book 5 unless you want to hear them kick dirt all over it.

Skeptical MarioInsightful and CatharticI had a great time listening to this podcast! Miles and unspoiled host Natasha provide a hilarious commentary to each volume of the Dark Tower series, as well as spinning off into tangents on other subjects or stories from their personal lives. I had read through the seventh book many years ago, so it was exquisite waiting for Natasha's reaction to some of the most memorable scenes. You won't be disappointed sticking with this podcast to the end!

GFrench3529Great podcast about a series that, overall, started better than it endedAllowing listeners to experience books, movies and shows through new eyes is so obvously wonderful as an idea and I am glad that Natasha has made it into a consistent and growing network. I'm glad I found Unspoiled. I started with The Dark Tower, then listened to all available Harry Potter episodes, one on The Force Awakens and then found The Constant. I was sad that DT didn't really hold up when viewed more objectively but I still appreciated the journey; I cried during (redacted) when Natasha cried while reading about the death of (redacted); and I teared up all over again, for happier reasons, during the namesake episode of The Constant. Some people complain about hosts being tangnetial or whatever but those personal asides and anecdotes are integral to each pocast and are what makes this more than some dry retread of the material. All of the hosts are funny and engaging and have great chemistry. I am happy that these strong female creators and hosts can help me see the fictional AND real world from their perspectives. And ALL of the ladies have the most infectious laughter.

JmbreauOne of my favorite podcastsNatasha and Miles are both brilliantly engaging and personable. They have keen literary insight as well as providing different points of view from a popular cultural perspective. I find their voices “easy to listen to” which is a hard characteristic to quantify and a hard one to find. Making my way through Midworld to the tower all over and I rather enjoy this ka-tet of commentatorslingers. Long days and pleasant nights sai 👌

akingsley81He didn’t know why he knew he needed to leave a review, he just knew...Nah, just kidding. I know exactly why I need to leave a review: because UNspoiled is the hardest working podcast network in show business! Natasha and Miles are insightful, funny, and unfailingly honest, as they dig through (and sometimes viciously dismantle) one of my all-time favorite book series. Beware if you don’t like people talking smack about your favorite stuff, because this is a show that sees The Dark Tower for what it is: a weird, flawed story with some fantastically high highs and bafflingly low lows. It is a perfect target for the UNspoiled brand of criticism. If you loved Dark Tower, this is a great way to help you enjoy the series in a different way. If you hated Dark Tower, these two have your back on everything you disliked. If you’re new to the series and looking for a reading buddy, Natasha can be right next to you saying, “Wait, what?” Face it, constant reader, the forces of Ka are drawing you inexorably towards UNspoiled! The Dark Tower.

DominiqueHopeA great timeI had a first read through of the dark tower series and I desperately needed someone to talk to and vent my feelings with. This is the exact thing I was looking for. Natasha and Miles are both smart people and their insights and tangents are memorable and hilarious. This is a great podcast for someone who is reading the series for the first time or for someone who has read them and just wants to listen to people bounce the exact questions and ideas you had yourself when you read the series. Can’t wait to get to the end! And thankee-sai

MKR522Fantastic podcastIf you like the Dark Tower series this is the podcast for you. Natasha and Miles are hilarious and it’s fun listening to them discuss the many great things and many flaws in this series

heelturn5-Star when they're actually discussing the storyThis podcast would be must-listen if they would actually discuss the books, but unfortunately most the time they aren't. I love hearing them discuss what is happening chapter by chapter. They do a great job breaking down what is happening and connecting it to things that I wouldn't have thought about that had happened earlier in the books. The problem is the majority of the time they discuss part of the book for about 30 seconds and then go completely off topic for 5 or 10 minutes. Which is fine every once in awhile, but it feels like only 20% of each episode is actually them discussing the Dark Tower and the rest is personal stories and weird tangents on politics and society. What makes it worse is how preachy and pretentious they come off as. I agree with most of their opinions on the things they talk about in those weird tangents, but the way they come off while discussing them is cringey at best. I wish they would make a separate podcast where they could discuss personal stories and opinions on the world unrelated to the Dark Tower so I could recommend and fully enjoy hearing great discussions on a series I love so much. Here's to hoping that as I catch up, this Dark Tower podcast becomes more about the Dark Tower.

ExangellionAwesome stuffThis is one of the most entertaining podcasts I’ve listened to in quite awhile. As a long-time fan of the Dark Tower series, I always find it fun to hear the thoughts of newcomers to the series, and while I can’t agree with everything said on the show (Mile’s passionate dislike of the Lord of the Rings in particular baffles me), I find that Natasha and Miles have succeeded in giving me a new insight into one of my favorite book series. One that I have read roughly seven or eight times. So thanks for that. P.S. Miles, I’d love to get a chance to try to change your mind about the Lord of the Rings.
-
MadOlafGreatThere aren’t enough good shows that go over the Dark Tower. I love Natasha’s constant worry about Oy’s fate and Miles’ annoyance at all the commalla-ing. Book 7 is my favorite of the bunch, and I can’t wait for the both of you to have read it, and I hope you share my love for the books once it’s all over.
-
Adam-GrimlockCould be betterWhile I feel the hosts are knowledgeable in regards to the Dark Tower, and seem to be educated in literature....the off topic “witty banter” is annoying. I don’t care about reveries about Natasha’s youth. Please just tell the story and get into the depths of the Dark Tower; and I will raise my rating. If I can stand to keep listening until then. 2x speed realllllly helps.
-
EljefetacomaHappy to Find It!I started reading the Dark Tower series again after stopping in high school, and went looking for podcasts to help me get deeper into the text. This show is great because they don't spoil anything from later in the book or beyond, which helps me go chapter by chapter and not miss anything important. Natasha is a great host and you should listen!
-
Dragon's Blood CurryAwesome in all the right places!!!Your podcast is a great dose of literature with a dash of shenanigans. I love how you take a topic and put your soul into it. Keep up being awesome and I will continue to listen. Much love.
-
trekgirl88The Best!I found UNspoiled when I searched iTunes for a podcast on the Dresden Files. I love the premise of one person knowing how the story goes, and the other doesn't. Then, I saw that UNspoiled covers so many more of my favorite book series! I was in at Dresden, but The Dark Tower, Harry Potter, AND a monthly book club covering some of my favorite books? I can't even describe how delightful it is to follow Natasha's discovery of Roland, Eddie, Susannah and Jake, while Miles tap-dances around her speculations. :)

Maddieleigh61496A-MAHHHH-ZingI have been listening to your podcast since the start of Wolves of the Calla. I absolutely love listening to your thoughts, y'all sometimes pick up on things that I completely missed! Now that I've passed you in the book, I'm listening from the beginning and a refresher of the old books is super helpful!! Keep it up XOXO Madison

KimDionne81Perfect compliment to the books!I'm so glad I stumbled onto Unspoiled! I started reading the Dark Tower series when the movie was released. It's been great to listen along as I read through the series.
-
danielg_42Great!I first read parts 1-3 in high school, and thought they were so good! Then read each as they came out (so slowly). When the new movie was announced I wanted to find a good book podcast, and so happy I found this one. I listen to 3-4 episodes while I work, and may need to slow down now that I'm getting caught up. Natasha and Miles are really awesome on this.
-
ReverendGodlessGreat podcast!Great podcast! I am reading the series for the first time and it is great to hear what they think of it as I go alone. Also when you guy made fun of Jack Morts name as being lame, Mort means "DEATH" in French! Stephen King is sneaky
-
JendryBarthareonEthosAlmostGood coverage and likable hosts. Only complaint is too many tangents about personal matters, not enough dark tower. Otherwise, pretty good.
-
The EACHumor! Insight! Weirdness!Love the in-depth analysis of the language and themes of the novels. ALSO love the digressions and random musings. Seriously honest and witty. But mostly posting this to request an update on the haunted Pizza Hut.

kamcsEven a Hardcore Unspoiled! Fan Will Be Pleasantly SurprisedYou know when you have one of those days where everything is going wrong and you just want to hang out with your friends and talk about the books you all read? Just click subscribe. Miles and Natasha sound as good discussing the books together as a bubble bath feels. Natasha is unspoiled, and though she's brilliant and makes great guesses, I love her mistakes just as much. Miles does a great job making sure Natasha has her own ideas and is even a bit puckish about letting her fall down the wrong path from time to time. I've been binge-listening, and I don't want to stop! IF MILES WOULD FINISH THE SERIES ALREADY, this podcast would be perfect.
-
ClaypoolsArmyExcellent, as alwaysI've been a big fan of the Unspoiled series of podcasts for awhile now, but this is my first review. This podcast, and the entirety of the Unspoiled series, is such a fun way to relive the excitement of my first experience with one of my favorite book series ever. The Dark Tower is such a fun, unique, and convoluted epic and it is a treat to listen to Natasha and Miles discuss this masterpiece (mess) "chapter by chapter." I can't wait to see how both of the hosts react as the series unfolds. Miles, the end of Wizard and Glass is excellent so get going man! Also, why all the Insomnia hate?? I also wanted to put my two cents in and say that I think you guys should read The Wind Through the Keyhole in canon order as opposed to published order. Anyways, great show! Keep up the good work guys and may we meet again, in the clearing, at the end of the path.
-
OdinHelblazerGuys, really, listen to Unspoiled!Even though I read the Dark Tower Series years ago, listening to Natasha go through it for the first time fills me with glee. "Just wait til she gets to..." And plus, Miles is barely a crotchety old man anymore! Unspoiled is possibly the only thing that could make my commute tolerable. For that, I thankee sai!
-
GJones712Thank you!For all that you have done to help me get through the sludge that was A Feast For Crows. For helping me remember all the characters and storylines on Thrones. For helping me make sense of Black Mirror. And now thank you for finally pushing me to read The Dark Tower. I had been putting it off, until I stumbled upon this podcast. I don't know if I would have got through the first chapter were it not for you and Miles spoon feeding a lot of what I missed to me, there's a ton that flew right over my head. Happy to see you're still putting out content. I missed your coverage.

Matt AkersDo Dew DeauxI just binged the Unspoiled!: Harry Potter podcast whilst doing my own re-read of the books and couldn't have enjoyed it more. So I then decided that I ought tackle the Dark Tower series by Stephen King as Miles and Natasha were already through covering the first two books of the series. And might I say, just like all the shows under the Unspoiled! umbrella, this podcast is PURE GOLD. I was laughing so hard when I was driving that I had to 'palaver' and catch my breath. Natasha's wit and charm match well with Miles' surprising lack of anger in this iteration of Unspoiled! and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who has read these books before or is embarking on this trek for the first time. P.S. I find it really cute when Natasha says "do dew deaux" (for some reason I imagine them as three different words)
-
MoneyTexMiles likes things nowI first heard Natasha and Miles covering Gmae of Thrones season 5, and that was great. But you know what's even better? When they love the material they are covering. Both hosts are pros at what they do and know exactly how to land a punchline on the air, and I'm a little sad neither of them have television contracts yet. Five popkins out of five.
-
Devlin55Re-Experiencing an Old FavoriteI've been a long-time listener and more recent Patreon patron (worth it!) for Unspoiled podcasts, and I hadn't re-read or even thought of The Dark Tower series for years until Natasha announced she would be covering it. Listening to the series again through her eyes has been a fantastic way to breathe life back into the books, especially The Drawing of the Three, which was always my favorite. I had only heard Miles before on the Game of Thrones Season 5 podcasts, so it was somewhat unnerving to hear him actually be happy on these episodes, but he does a great job of shepharding first-time reader Natasha through the always-disturbing-and-often-ridiculous world that King created. They're great fun to listen to, and I would recommend the other Unspoiled casts just as much!
-
DothrakiScreamerNew look at a classic seriesDetailed analysis of one of my favorite book series. It's a lot of fun to listen to Natasha's reactions as she reads this craziness for the first time. She makes some incredibly accurate predictions, and some hilariously off the mark ones too. Miles does a great job keeping a poker face (voice?) and steers the conversation in fun directions. Highly recommended for King fans!
-
Phil LanzGreat! This is such a cool format for a review podcast. I just wish you would read faster. Great job.
-
KatPuenteLove It!I just started this series and this podcast is so great to follow with. I love getting to hear the perspective from someone who has already read the book. Plan to listen to more of these unspoiled podcasts!
-
Candace_BPalaver worth your timeNatasha and Miles are a delight. Give this podcast a listen if you care about thoughtful commentary and insight. They break down this complex series bit by bit like stomach acid. I am bad at comparisons but this podcast is not. It's as good as this review is inept. You won't regret it!
-
Constantreader42Thankee-SaiI've been a long time listener of Unspoiled and also of Stephen King, and now the two have come together. Natasha and Miles read 1 to 2 chapters at a time, depending on length, and then they discuss them in depth and speculate on what's to come. They've only recently started covering book 1 so we have many, many, wonderful podcasts to look forward to over the next year or two. If you're looking for other great book podcasts, I started with the Unspoiled A Song of Ice and Fire and you cannot find a better chapter by chapter analysis. And then there's my favorite podcast ever, which is still on going, Unspoiled Harry Potter - fan-frakin-tastic! Unspoiled also covers His Dark Material, not my favorite book series, but I'm reading it just so I can listen along to the podcast. So go then, and subscribe, because there's other worlds than these.
-
Johnnygun2Very well done.I'm a huge Dark Tower fan and I'm always looking for new podcasts about them. I was very happy to discover this one a few days ago. I've never heard of this podcast network but they do good work. This podcast is very thorough and I love to hear The Dark Tower reviewed from someone who has never read it. Based on this podcast, I also downloaded all of the Harry Potter episodes and hope to get started listening to them very soon. Keep up the good work. John from Buffalo
-
Tony CollienWorthy Addition to Unspoiled LibraryFinally Natasha is the unspoiled reader for The Gunslinger series, and I can't be more excited! Miles is her semi-spoiled co-host in this series. Miles hasn't shown his trademark anger yet, but give him time and I'm sure he'll find some for parts of book 5 and 6 :) The podcasts is not only funny and entertaining, but insightful in the themes of the literature. "Go then. There are other worlds than these"
-
Brenna MaloNatasha is a rockstarListen to all her stuff. Funny. Smart. Looking forward to her take on Dark Tower!
-
AschoenfAnother gem in the unspoiled tiaraI've been listening to Natasha's chapter by chapter by episode by episode podcasts for years and you're a poor unfortunate soul if you haven't heard them yet. The format here, as is the case with the other shows in this stable, is two hosts one familiar with the series and one who is not trying to guess and prognosticate their way through the book. And the reason I'm finally reviewing is because the dark tower is wonderful and infuriating. Get in now, join the unspoiled Ka-tet!
