    Good concept, disappointingly executed
I was excited to learn this podcast exists, and decided to check it out after belatedly binging Picard, only to feel pretty disappointed with the discussion. The philosophical and textual discussions are amateurish at best (e.g. one host seeming to believe that the entirety of existentialism is represented by Sartre only, the other host making trite observations weaker than most first-year undergraduates’). A reminder that the most interesting and rigorous theoretical thought rarely emerges from self-described institutions of “philosophy,” which is as true for podcasts as it is for the US university, apparently.

    Really good
Very interesting!!! I really like the discussion. Wondering if you could do a Hegel episode

Two of my favorite things together.

Great show, deep high quality and entertaining
This show is great! I love Trek but to hear the deep questions that arise in REAL life discussed and applied to the Star Trek universe is unique in my experience and really raises the level at which I can appreciate Trek. The guys also deliver the discussion in an engaging way that is fun to listen to and draws you in. Well done!

    Make it existential, Number One!
Just stumbled upon this podcast recently and now I am burning through them like Khan chasing Kirk around perdition's flames! Great insight into the concepts at work behind the many incarnations of ST (I especially appreciate the references to Enterprise...a very often overlooked series that explores some of the most interesting questions raised in the franchise). The hosts have a good on air chemistry and do a great job breaking down chunky philosophical concepts into digestable bites and applying them with insightful wit. Btw, thank you for the heads up on 'Chief O'Brien at Work'...hilarious!

The way it's meant to be!
This is the way Star Trek is meant to be debated! The shows are really a commentary on sociological and philosophical issues of the day! This podcast nails it when talking about those issues in ways the average person understand complex theories! It will truly broaden your understanding and love for Star Trek!

    MetaTreks amazes
Meta Treks with Zachary and Mike is a fascinating show. I've had a range of experiences while listening to Meta Treks ranging from feeling immersed in the Trek universe, feeling as if I'm chatting with friends, and feeling like I'm back in my political philosophy classes at Kansas State University. The guys bring a nice balance to the show with their backgrounds and beliefs and do a wonderful job of framing the topics and discussing the underlying philosophy and history of each topic. A show that links Kant, Nietzsche, John Stuart Mill, and Star Trek is a dream come true for me. My favorite Trek FM show.

    A Must Listen
This podcast has become a weekly cannot miss listening experience for me. Mike and Zach do an incredible job of using all fifty years of Trek to illustrate and illuminate philosophical concepts. One of the great appeals of Star Trek for me has always been that it makes me think. Meta Treks is a fantastic and fun way to take that one step deeper.

    Making philosophy interesting
Where was this show when I was in college taking philosophy. Discussion of philosophical topics using Star Trek as examples. They discuss the messages and meanings behind Star Trek, and specific episodes and films.

    A lot to think about
I'm in my first year teaching Philosophy and this podcast has provided me with all kinds of ways to work Star Trek into my courses. Additionally, the hosts have helped me to both think about some philisophical concepts and Star Trek characters/episodes in ways I hadn't before. Good for anyone that wants a podcasts that combines Geek Culture with some heavy thinking.

    So smart it hurts
During the first half of each episode of Meta Treks I'm thinking, "Wow! These guys are so smart! I can't believe how much I'm learning!" After the halfway mark my thoughts change to, "I have no idea what they're talking about. I'm a huge dolt." Jokes aside, I really apprecaite the intellegent conversation and the friendly humor of Zachary and Michael. They're nice, smart guys that just want to dig deeply into the show that we all love.

    Wow. Just. Wow.
A show that takes all the deep questions in Trek and attempts to answer them with modern philosophy and breaks it down for the average person. Excellent Show!

Great Show for the Thinking Star Trek Fan
Being a Trek fan for a long time I've always known the show had many religious and philosophical implications. This show is an examination of a lot of those implications in a highly insightful way. Topics are discussed rationally, with many references to philosophical schools of thoughts, and individual philosophers. I love this program because it allows you to enjoy Star Trek in an entirely different way, while examining the true significance of the show.

Star Trek has had philosophy incorporated in it almost from the beginning. The hosts of Meta Treks take real world philosophy and combine it with the Star Trek universe.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I LOVE this show. Star Trek is so well known for presenting such interesting and complicated philosophical issues, so I'm so glad to have found a podcast that goes so in depth into them. The hosts are engaging, articulate, and clearly know their stuff. I feel like I've gained a better understanding of the issues they've discussed from a few hours of listening to the show than I ever did in university.

    Pretty Good
Ok, it's just way too long. Good topics and all that but it's a little long winded.

    Nerds abounding
I absolutely love this podcast! As an ardent Trekkie who is also a person of faith, I often have trouble explaining to people how I reconcile the two in my head. Zachary and Michael do an amazing job of framing this fandom in a way that makes it okay for anyone to "worship at the altar of Roddenberry." (Any SG-1 fans out there?)

    Enjoyable and informative
I was excited when I found out about Meta Treks. It's easy for discussions related to franchises to ignore the underlying messages and themes but MT doesn't do that. It does tend to be heavier on the philosophy than on the Trek, so those looking for a lot of Trek talk might be dissatisfied. However, MT successfully uses the universe of Star Trek as a springboard for discussion about different issues of the Star Trek universe and as an introduction to various philosophical terms/concepts. So far the shows have been interesting and enjoyably educational. I especially appreciate both the philosophical and religious backgrounds Mike and Zachary bring to the podcast. The show is informed on the study/theories of various philosophers while also being at least aware of religious beliefs/sensibilities and how they relate to these issues. Star Trek has some great themes worth exploring and makes a great starting place from which to explore these topics. I look forward to future episodes. Thanks for doing the show!

    Great Podcast for Trek Fans
I've been thoroughly enjoying the episodes so far, and can't wait each week for more. I usually get to listen on a morning run, when the stars are still out, and as I look up at them, I get insightful looks into episodes, characters, or ideas in Star Trek. Since I don't often get to talk things through with a friend in this depth, it is great to listen to the podcast to still get some discussion going. I also find the philosophy discussions to be just right. I don't have much of a philosophy background, and surprisingly it comes up a lot in my masters architecture courses, so hearing a bit more about it in relation to something I love like Star Trek is a great way to learn. Keep up the great work.

    Disappointing
I love and listen religiously to everything on the Trek.fm network, but Meta Treks is a huge disappointment. They barely mention Star Trek in most instances, and their philosophical "discussions" amount to nothing more than spouting off philosophical theories and posing questions. Sure, there are no answers in philosophy, but a discussion should attempt to have a direction. Simply saying "determinism" or "Ship of Theseus" doesn't make you philosophical. I hope they improve, but I can't recommend wasting your time on this podcast right now.
