The Adventures of Superman, was adapted from the DC Comics character created in 1938 (see Superman), came to radio as a syndicated show on New York City's WOR on February 12, 1940. On Mutual, it was broadcast from August 31, 1942, to January 28, 1949, as a 15-minute serial, running three or, usually, five times a week. From January 31 to June 17, 1949 it ran as a thrice-weekly half-hour show. The series shifted to ABC Saturday mornings on November 5, 1949, and then to twice-a-week in June 1950, continuing on ABC until March 1, 1951.

    The content hasn't aged well
There's so much modern quality podcast out there for kids and family. It's clear that whoever "creates" this podcast doesn't care much about supporting it -- the episodes disappear, the website is nonexistant, and the content is recycled. If you're looking for something to listen to as a family, there are many far better options out there.

    Whats wrong with episode 28?
I would have given it more but episode 28 has some editing issues. Everything in that episode is out of wack and out of place. Other than that issue its all good.

Kept your children glued to the radio (or iPod)
This went from 5 to 1 stars because it developed problems with downloads and just stopped. I was pleased to see a lot of old radio shows making it into podcast form. It's a real art form that fires up the imagination, everyone listens intently and we even will listen to the end of the episode parked in the car before getting out to go into our destination if we have to. It shows how good these stories were even given the '40's sound effects. Not only do I like listening to these, but my sons do too. It now gives context to the things their Nana talks about listening to when she was little. Further Kudos to Dennis Humphrey for leaving the introduction as "Defender of truth, justice, and the American way" where I've heard Superman episodes in other podcasts edit out "and the American way."

    Problems with the downloads
I would give it five stars but when you have problems getting a number of episodes I have to give it one.

    It's A Bird, It's A Plane, It's A Quiet Car Ride.....
My kids are 6 and 7. They are glued to the radio the entire ride when Superman is on! I've never had such a quiet backseat in my life. Old Time Radio has new life on mp3. It's fantastic....
