Caging Schrödinger's Cat - Quantum Nanotechnology

0

Weird new possibilities emerge as we explore the nanoworld, the universe at the length scale of a billionth of a metre. Here the theory of quantum mechanics bewilders our everyday common sense, as Erwin Schrödinger famously expressed when he imagined a cat that was both dead and alive at the same time! Now Dr Simon Benjamin shows us how experts in physics, chemistry and materials science are working together to harness this strange reality. Underlying their research is the promise of building what may be the most exotic and powerful technology ever conceived: the quantum computer.

Caging Schrodinger's Cat - Quantum Nonotechnology
From a laypersons perspective this presentation was like going on a fantastic voyage. Granted I already had an interest in the quantum world and was familiar with Schrodinger and his thought experiment, and so this series took that material and showed how todays researches continue to build on the past. The presentation delivered the Scrodinger Cat thought experiment dressed with todays knowledge and made that whole complex set of knowledge accessible to a layperson such as myself, it was fresh, inspirational in the sense that you wanted to know more, and thus I was searching around for more material on the subject, and last but not least it made you concerned that in the rush to cut budgets that this is one field amongst many the research fields that should survive. If you can find the funds please make more of these presentations.
