Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend

After 25 years at the Late Night desk, Conan realized that the only people at his holiday party are the men and women who work for him. Over the years and despite thousands of interviews, Conan has never made a real and lasting friendship with any of his celebrity guests. So, he started a podcast to do just that. Deeper, unboundedly playful, and free from FCC regulations, Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend is a weekly opportunity for Conan to hang out with the people he enjoys most and perhaps find some real friendship along the way.Subscribe to SiriusXM Podcasts+ to listen to new episodes of Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend ad-free and a whole week early.Start a free trial now on Apple Podcasts or by visiting siriusxm.com/podcastsplus.

    A hard listen
Fan forever but I have to stop. The interviews are so boiler plate. Everyone praising each other.

    Disappointing end
I can’t justify paying to listen to a podcast, nor do I want to support the decision. Thanks for all the laughs these past few years.

    Please Sell Your Tesla
Conan, like Sheryl Crow, you should sell your Tesla to protest Elon Musk’s devastating influence on our government. No celebrity can stand on the sidelines.

    I’m Done Listening
Dear Conan, Recently I went into my Apple Podcast app to listen to your show. I became a listener over the Panddmic, and have enjoyed your show. To recently discover that you are now charging for your podcast is pretty disgusting. Over the past few years, I’ve noticed that the number of ads increased dramatically. Do you not already have and make enough money? You’re not funny enough to pay a subscription fee. I’m out, and will no longer listen even if I encounter a medium where you do not charge.

    Long time fan
Two years ago I would have given this 5 stars because I’ve admired Conan for 20 years. But over the last 2 years he is increasingly talking over his guests and interrupting them. And now we have to pay?

    Great show
Every episode makes me grin, thank you!

    Tough
Love me some Conan but can’t afford to subscribe, thats a tough one to accept. I’m going to hang on but it’s not gonna be easy.

    Relieved
So scratch that last review- thought I’d lost you all forever

    Too many ads
There are so many ads now that I only listen if there’s a guest I really want to hear. It’s just not worth it otherwise. And no, I’m not paying for the ad-free subscription.

    Meh at best
I can’t listen to this 12 year old. Even if the guest is good he isn’t. I quit listening when it was free. Good luck getting people to pay for your middle school humor.

    Not so much
As free content, a great value, as paid for content…..

    Conan is my favorite person
I grew up watching Conan. From watching the Simpsons to late night, Conan has always been my favorite host.
  • Erik Gross
Kevin Nealon is a weapon of mass comedy destruction
I want to ask that Kevin be a guest at least once a month - but I don’t think I could take it. And honestly, it might drive Conan legit insane :)

    Mark Twain Prize
Will Conan’s Mark Twain Prize be affected by take over of Kennedy Center by trump? It is long overdue and it is a shame if it is tainted by a weak, insecure trump!

    A lot of Conan
I stopped listening a long time ago because he made the podcast was more about him than his guests. And so many ads, but I guess he needs to pay for his huge properties somehow. He also over the top gushed about his guests but I love the guests he has on and I want to hear them. Has he changed in the past two years?

Lost respect for Conan because of paywall
I have been watching and supporting Conan since 1993. I look forward to this podcast every Monday. For him to put up a paywall to listen to a podcast is insane. You have lost a forever fan. Goodbye Conan.
  • Goodrrrrrrrrrrraim
    Used to be good
Why do we have to pay now

    This podcast saved my life
I started listening during lockdown, and the subsequent years have been very challenging for me. But this podcast never fails to make me laugh, and has on many occasions, lifted my spirits enough to help me keep going. The latest episode featuring a trans man made me feel so proud of Team Coco, especially at this moment in time.

    Good but dissapointed
If im just rating the quality of the podcast its 5/5 stars, I love it. But how dare you put ANY of ur podcast content behind a paywall! Smh, im a bit crushed that my hero did this. Just tore down the shrine. Hope ur happy with yourself. You gangly weasel.

    Paywall?
I love this podcast but can’t believe you’re putting episodes behind a paywall now! Ad revenue isn’t enough? How much will ever be enough? Every aspect of human entertainment has been monetized, this is so disappointing
  • Kdogg8956
    Subscription
Now you want me to pay $5.99 a month. No way.
  • Greg Castro
    Booo monetization
I guess Conan really did lose all his money investing in themed restaraunts

    Driving, not relaxation
Listening to Kevin and Conan, not too night.

    Kevin Nealon
Love the show. When Kevin Nealon comes on the show I laugh as hard as I possibly can. Wish you could have him on every week. Even better than Conan and Jordan together
  • Stupidapphater
Why do I have to pay?
Suddenly I have to pay to listen to a free podcast? A podcast is a platform to sell stuff to make money, why would I pay for a long commercial? Don’t we pay extra on every other platform to “not” hear that? Capitalism
  • Ted Sled
    Bobsled
I’m not sure why, but Conan‘s face on the front of a Canadian bobsleigh is the most natural and correct thing I think I’ve ever heard of and must happen.
  • Jacteaux
    Love it; getting boring
I’d love Kevin Nealon, but it’s his third time back Conan can you really think of no one else to bring on there are hundreds of thousands of people that I could think that you could bring onto your show and you haven’t I can’t believe any celebrity would turn down your show that would be so shocking to me so why are we not seeing more people? Why are we seeing the same people over and over?

    Jordan Show
Really love the Jordan and Conan show!!! Sorry Conan but Jordan is right. I listen on my hour commute to work and just talking about stuff is fine by me! My only issue is these episodes of the Jordan show aren’t actually new but released on YouTube a year or so ago, a disclaimer would be good. Hopefully this is a trial release before recording new stuff??👀👀 ALSO I would totally listen to just Jordan talking about whatever interests him so SXM if you’re reading this please consider the Jordan Schlansky music hour!!!

    My favorite podcast about books.
Sona and the gang always coming through with the best books. Reggie Watts so perfect! Robert Caro a little wordy. Josh Brolin fascinating. Sona Movsesian hilarious. Still waiting on Conan O’Brien to put pen to paper. I can’t figure out what he’s done.

    Kevin
Nealon? So they’re just letting anybody do the podcast now.

    A Lasting Bond
While listening to ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend’ in the car my 11 y/o daughter has become a fan. There was a particular episode where Conan was singing the “yay/boo” song which solidified her interest. She asked me to find the song on YouTube later that night. After that, she’s become a fan of Sonya’s foul mouth and talkback, Matt’s geekiness and any moment where Conan spazzes out as a bit. This has given me great joy because I know the closer she gets to being a teenager the less bonding we will do. This is one of the few things we both enjoy! I could go on and on about how wonderful the show and Mr. O’Brien are. You guys are the best. Rock on!

    Love love love
The April 22, 2019 interview with Tig Notaro is one of the best podcasts in all of podcast history. Tig is generally my favorite but this interview in particular is truly a blast, the call-backs, the clown horns. All so good. I have it downloaded to my phone and listen to it on the regular and in these dark times, it’s a salve for my soul.

    Love the pod!
Thanks to the three of you - the pod is so well done. Tip though for you, Sona, play a drinking game, taking a shot every time Conan says the phrase, “it’s funny because…”. You will need a nap mid show. Seriously though, great guests and banter with the 3 of you. Cheers
  • D.P.Gallagher
    Just shut up
Show would be half decent if Conan didn’t bulldoze every conversation and talk over everybody
  • Stijul Nigilewood
    Love you guys!
Really. Love you guys. Been a Conan fan for 30 years. Now a Sona and Matt fan as well. Listening to Sona talk about losing her house in the fires broke my heart. Hope you all stay safe and keep doing the good work that uplifts us all. ❤️❤️

    I’m a fan!!!
This is the pee-your-pants ugly laugh podcast I’ve been dreaming about. I even find the ads funny! I love the rapport with Sona and Gourley. I listen while I’m doing chores around the house and it is my favorite part of the day.

Best Podcast to Listen to During an MRI
I had an MRI recently, and the technician offered to let me listen to music on the provided headphones during the procedure. I immediately asked if the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast was available, and it was! Really helped keep my mind off the loud sounds of the MRI machine (and mild claustrophobia). As I left the appointment, the tech said I did great. Then after a pause, he added “no one’s ever requested Conan.” Well, I say that more people should! Awesome podcast; I love you guys and I’m sending extra love and support to Sona and her family. Hugs!

Support for Sona and her family
I am so sorry Sona lost her home. I also feel very sorry for all the families that lost their homes as well as the people that lost their lives in this devastating fire. I pray for your comfort and strength as you move forward. Take good care.

    Thinking of Sona
When I first heard of the Eaton fire in Altadena, I instantly thought of you and was hoping you were okay. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Prayers to you and your family as you rebuild your home and community. So glad you got the ice bucket.
  • MindfulArtist
    Vulnerable compassion in a nutshell
I’ve listened to all the episodes and look forward fo hearing them at work. Conan and the team invite celebrities and chat with them on a human level like no other podcast and I learn about their lives, dreams and quirks. So wholesome. Also the fan episodes are funny.

    Sending ❤️ to the team
Not a review (love you guys and the show) but sending love to Sona and her family and to Matt and Conan and family who have gone through so much the last couple of months. Thanks for your episode and sharing everything glad you could be together, I hope It was nice for you to get back to a routine so to speak. Sona I know how much you love AltaDena and defend it against Conan’s jokes and I know you and your extended family will rally around you. WE LOVE YOU SONA
Sending you all so much love as your communities recover… but especially Sona.

    More than stuff
Just listened to the LA fires ep and wanted to hug Sona and tell her she is right, it’s not just stuff. It’s the home you created for your family. Your labor and your love is what turns a space into a place that supports your daily routines, your stability, your sense of community and safety. Losing a home is devastating and traumatic and I am so sorry for anyone who becomes unhoused for any reason. Thank goodness you are all safe and have a wonderful support network of friends and family to care for you. Still, it’s ok to grieve. Be well 🩷

    Love to you all ♥️
Hi Conan, Sona, and Matt. Listening to your episode about the fires is bittersweet and heartwarming. On a normal day, I love listening to your podcast because it feels like you are a family. You make jokes at each other’s expense, but you genuinely love each other. This episode showed all of that in a beautiful bloom. Hearing Sona’s devastating news I could tell the genuine concern and love for her and her family in everyone’s voice. As beautiful as that is, hearing her laugh through the pain with her other family was equally as beautiful as it allowed her a small break from her current reality. My love and respect for all of you cannot be understated. Stay safe♥️

    MORE SONA…please…
    sorry, but she’s the star…
  • gbird75
    Thank you for the update
Wow thanks you guys for sharing your experiences of the fires. What a relief to hear your voices and just— yourselves… processing this horrific week and the loss of Sona’s house, and all the complex emotions and much needed humor that go along with trauma like this. Y’all are the best ❤️
